21 reps for Dorian Johnson? Very disappointing.

On the flip side, I don't put any stock in the bench press, unless guys can't even do double digit reps. That's a problem for a lineman. Otherwise, there's very little connection between functional playing strength and the bench press reps. There's also extremely low correlation between good bench numbers, and NFL success. Based on the reports I've seen, it's actually the metric with the least accurate prediction of success at most positions. So as long as there's not an outrageous lack of reps (one year a guy did 7, haha), then it's probably not a big deal.

Njoku big wingspan good, are Shaheen hands to small?

Nah. It's helpful to hold your fingers up 3/8 of an inch apart, and ask if that's going to make the difference between success and failure over his career. Numbers are just one tool; they're not all that important on their own, unless they're massive outliers.

Potentially bad news for Jonathan Allen.

Sad. I hope he doesn't have long term health problems because of football. He relies on such a power element to his game, too. He's like a boxer on the field. How long can his shoulders hold up?

. . . and if he drops far enough, do the Patriots pick him up? I like him a million times better than Easley, and I think he could play a similar role.

I think it would be a concern if you wanted him for a second contract but BB seems happy to only look ahead to their rookie contracts. I don't like Allen high in the draft because he's not explosive enough for me, but at 32? Bring it on.

If Allen some how drops to the teens, some team will get a steal.

The thing about a guy like Allen is he will give you a starter from day 1. So few guys are ready to step on the field early in their career, but that will be the last concern with Allen.

So, in short, you might not get a second contract with Allen, but you will get an extra year of production on the front end. I think BB hops up in the draft if he's within striking distance.

Here's a thought. Lot of talk about BB not trading JG but there's also been talk about the Saints loving Garropolo and today there's a story about the Saints trading Brandin Cooks for a first round pick. Might they be freeing up a first rounder to try and trade for Jimmy G? Just speculation connecting up some, probably imaginary, dots from a couple of stories today.

Not great.

These are good numbers for Hansen

Cant believe McCaffery only did 10 reps. I weigh 170lbs, workout 3-4 days a week, and miss a bunch of days here and there, and can bench 225 about 5-8 times. it just doesnt make sense to me. lol

This is why the Combine can be overrated. Pumphrey with only 5 reps, but he's a tough runner for his size. You're not drafting him to be a weightlifter; you're looking for a spark in the return game and as a pass-catching back.

I don't think bench press is all that relevant to RB. It's primarily about blocking but technique would be far more important to being a good blocker than how much you press. Still, when you're undersized, being a weakling doesn't help teams put that lack of size to one side.
