OT: The TV show I work on...DOUBT

***SHERLOCK SPOILERS***

Have you guys tried SHERLOCK or LUTHER? Both on Netflix. So good.

Sherlock was great, but lost its way for a while starting with the third series and the bizarre Mary storyline...thankfully, they literally shot it to death. Luther has been outstanding all the way through.

You know, I get it. As I've said, I haven't watched a network show in literally over a decade. I suspect nobody in most writers rooms have either. I asked because I've been part of this community for way longer than a decade. The fact that you insist on relentlessly ragging on the mere consideration some posters are asking for - and just not seeing the bigger picture - is unfortunate. There's a way to be a human being about it, even in saying no thanks.
im honest and straight to the point. would you rather i be condescending? I'm ragging on network tv. stop whining. the big picture is you want me to watch your tv show and ask others to do so. i don't want to and I've given you my reasons. if that makes me less human in your eyes so be it .

I think it's probably not as cut and dry as that - more of a balance or a just-right recipe - but I do agree that writing is paramount. It's easier for so so actors to pull off a great script than it is for great actors to bring life to mediocre writing. Sooooooo much has to do with technical aspects, too. Editors are storytellers. Cinematographers are storytellers. The special shows - for me, MASH, Soparanos, west wing, the wire, breaking bad, sports night and others - are the whole package, and they positively SING. That's art.

So everyone's a piece of the puzzle but the writing is very important. I see that. I just think that actors are over-rated and mostly interchangeable. I can think of a few actors who would be able to play Walter and Skyler White and not have it affect the quality of Breaking Bad.

Spoiler alert for anyone who's still in the dark ages and hasn't seen Breaking Bad: One of the things that I noticed about Breaking Bad was all of the times they would concentrate the camera on one small item or incident and how that would come into play later, sometimes even in later episodes.

-The doll's eye floating in the pool.
-The way Jane described the dangers of lying on your back after getting high.
-The green box-cutter that Gayle used to open the new cooking equipment that later became the one Gus used.
-Ted tripping over the rug harmlessly and then later for real.
-Walt looking at the WW book as he moved back into the house only to have Hank see it and blow the whole thing up.

There are others but you know what I mean. There was some great stuff there if you really paid attention to the details.

LOL, not at all. It's not a matter of honest and straight to the point. It's deciding to be a **** about it. If you want to dress it up as candor, go ahead. We live in a society.

WestWorld is currently the best show on TV, IMO. I really don't think there's a close second, either.

That's a very good and entertaining show, and it's definitely top 5, but it doesn't even surpass HBO's other epic fantasy drama - Game of Thrones. Not yet at least.

Better Call Saul has better writing and better character development than any other show currently on TV, and is arguably better than, or at least equal to, Breaking Bad.

I've had a long standing debate going on with my wife and children. Maybe as a person in that business you can help.

It's my contention that the true strength in television and movies is the writing. There are some actors who stand out, but for the most part you could swap many of the actors in most successful, well written films and it would likely be just as popular.

I saw it said in a post somewhere around here that described how I feel ... actors read lines that are written by a writer and are told how to say them by a director. Is it wrong to think that's true?

This sounds like a BB vs Brady debate.

They all consider it a privilege to work for Isaiah Roth, a revered legal lion and “lefty” legend, whose approval is their holy grail.

I don't understand why a TV show would out of the gate tell 50% of the country they don't want them, or want to lecture them.

I was selected as an extra in the Patriots Day movie. I saw myself during the bombing sequence. I'm the guy the blue hoodie circled in the uploaded picture. I know, I know, it's dark, but I'm officially one degree of KEVIN BACON!!!

See, I don't agree there. It could be because I never really got into GOT but, based on what I've seen, WW has superior writing, acting, and directing behind it. It's the best show on TV already. But, again, that's just IMO. That said, I don't see how it has anything more than two to three seasons left, unfortunately.

stop being so sensitive lol. I wasn't a **** about anything. I gave my reasons and you don't like it. whaaa. mom dad sis bro. dvr this tv show. why? because some guy on a message board asked me to ask you to. lmao ridiculous.

I'll take Brady and the writers in a double action reverse, if there's still such a thing in betting.

Best Shows Ever in my book
1) 24
2) Dexter

I also had a weird fascination with The Man in the High Tower, but its the first show I ever binge watched, so that might be why.

The only show I've watched recently was the Once Upon A Time series. I watch football with my son and OUAT with my daughter. It actually is a fun series to watch. The earlier seasons were the best and were well written. Now I think they are running out of material.

In the past, for me, I would watch House and maybe the occasional CIS episode.

I unfortunately got stuck on the Secrets of Oak Island crap. So I guess I watch that too.

There's still an area where WestWorld falls well short of Game of Thrones - character development. I don't think either show has any decided advantage in any other area.

But it doesn't even come down to those two. Better Call Saul is better than both. It may not get a lot of love from the audience (neither did The Wire when it first aired, and that was the best show of all time) but critics have been on point with their acclaim. Looking forward to Gus making an appearance in season 3.

Yeah, I have to catch up on BCS but that show is great as well. Breaking Bad was a masterpiece.

Why chime in at all though? The guy is asking for a favor, if you didn't want to do it just ignore the thread. The fact you don't seem to get that is the issue.

You seem like a fun guy to hang around with.

OP, I'll spread the word. Cool stuff, I'll stop bickering with others so your thread doesn't get locked. Can't seem to have a normal conversation on the internet anymore.
