Agreed.

Locker room fights and flights out to NYC to tape a show is the exact opposite of the Patriot Way.

But, was interesting to see Simms put it out there in the open.
Brandon Marshall has played 11 seasons in the NFL with 4 different teams and never made the playoffs.

I can't see Hightower sitting out a season and saying no thanks keep the 15 mill

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I didn't mean to imply that HT will sit out the season but that we will most probably tag him first but a longterm deal will be worked out before camp. I honestly think that mostly this negotiation will be about offsets/incentives because of his injuries and not anything else. I can see them meeting somewhere in the middle on that.. eventually.

Gotcha. I took wont play under the tag to me if they tag him he will hold out if he doesn't get a long term deal.

Duron Harmon is a stud and he's going to get paid like one. I think a third safety, as important as Harmon has been, is a bit of a luxury for the Patriots right now, so I don't expect him to stay around.

I'm all for hating on the guy, but that right there isn't a good enough reason.

Martellus Bennett played 9 years for 3 teams and didn't make the playoffs before this year either.

Yes he did.

Marshall is a big reason why his teams didn't make the playoffs. He is a bad teammate and as a focal point of his teams has often choked.

I respectfully disagree. A 3rd safety is a very important part to this defense.

It certainly can be argued how much the team should spend on such a player.

I heard some chatter somewhere about the concern of turning into another Mayo type scenario.........which I never saw to be a cap killer

Either way, the Pats need to add a quality body to the draft as depth for that position

one can never have too many linebackers

Something to fuel more speculation... HT apparently sat out the parade..

Reiss didn't go into why..

The problem with franchising Hightower is that there is that they don't make any distinction between OLB's and ILB's. OLB's like Von Miller have increased the LB franchise tag to over 14MM currently. Next year it will will likely be over 15MM. The peak of the ILB market is Luke Keckely (sp?) at 12MM. Hightower's fair market price should be just below that.

So I don't think franchising Hightower is a smart move UNLESS you use it just to give you more time to complete the LT deal. I don't see Hightower playing the year under a franchise tag.

We've seen BB do this before, though. He did it with Welker.

Harmon may get overpaid......he's had good visibility at the right time and teams will look to add 'winners' to their organization where they see him fit in the scheme

yeah......if the pats want him, I believe he will be here...they do things their way and I have been burned enough times being critical to naysay.......I'm comfortable with seeing where this goes

he's an Alabama guy........he may have the 'hired gun' mentality with 2 rings .... winning doesn't get old but neither does getting overpaid

My impression of HT is that he "gets it" and is a prototypical longterm Patriots player in the mold of Mayo. I would be shocked if he is not on the team with a longterm contract next camp. But then again how much do we really know..

not every guy who 'gets it' leaves money on the table.......don't hold it against those who don't.....it's a rough sport and every play could end it

I hear you. While we are all outsiders looking in and really don't know anything, if you asked me to pick one player on defense that was the prototype for a Patriot, it's probably Hightower, closely followed by Butler and DMC.

But, just because he's the prototypical Patriot doesn't mean he's gonna stay if someone wants to pay him more than Collins or something. He's got two rings already... the money may lure him away.

I sure hope it was for any other reason besides making a statement about his contract or the current state of negotiations

I sure hope it was for any other reason besides making a statement about his contract.

Some rumblings say it is because of injury rehab (he was wearing a harness on his injured left shoulder during the SB) others are speculating about the contract angle.. to be honest both are somewhat weird reasons to sit out a SB parade.. how many of those do you realistically get ?

Yes yes, I'm aware. I mean as a player for the Broncos. I haven't heard any complaints from the team. I could be wrong, but I've got the impression they've been pretty pleased with him as a player.

I'm sure they were pumped when he shot himself, and then sent the Dallas PD on a wild goose chase, looking for the "real shooter."

If Talib played in a major market, that would have been 24/7 on ESPN.

I don't buy it. If that happen's than i rather keep him. I ain't giving him up for a second or 3rd round pick.

Seriously, he'll fetch a comp 3rd rounder if he walks anyway.
