Even if we lose Sunday, we can't complain

You get a 24 hour pissed off period, no more
LOL!

For big losses (AFCCG, SBs, the 2005 Div loss vs DEN and 2010 Jets) I go through the 5 stages of grief. (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance) That all happens over a day or two after the loss.

I mean, just because I am thankful and appreciative of the team's success (especially after enduring that hell in the late 80s and early 90s) doesn't mean it's OK to just shut off emotions after a big loss and create my own happy place. Life doesn't work that way- nor should it.

We all invest time in following the team and watching the game because we care and it's fun.

If they win Sunday, its jubilation.

If they lose, it sucks but life goes on and you look forward to next year.

Thats what being a sports fan is all about.

I will be drunk and stoned by the end of the game

I will wake up the next day and go to work late

regardless of outcome

About 10:00 PM Sunday night there will be no more speculation.. and after we win there will still be a decent amount of concern, led by the cast of characters on Sportstalk Radio, Borges, Shaugnessy et al....

Then we can start the "BB does not know how to draft season"... then national "experts" will announce the winners of the draft and free agent signing period, the Jets will revel in their early "pre pre season victories" in mid May.. it goes on and on, quite predictable.
Kind of reminds me of growing up in the 60's. Every year, the media would proclaim the Los Angels Lakers as the next world champion. Need I say more?

Eyes on the prize. The win is the only thing that matters.
I want the win. However, if ALL that matters with being a Pats fan.. a Brady fan.. is that they win the Super Bowl, then what about all these wins and great years.. and GOAT talk, etc. So basically that just means the Pats only had 4 good years? The Pats are on a stunning 17 year run. Hell 2007 is one of the greatest years any NFL team has ever had. There is more to it than just the win.

But yes if we don't get number 5 this week I will melt down in one form or another.

A day or 2 is reasonable. The first time we lost to the team just south of us, I spent 2 days in a padded room wearing a rubber suit

Y'know I can watch youtube highlights of the tough losses. SB46, 06 AFCCG, etc.

Not THAT game....just can't do it.

I don't necessarily agree, but you all are being too hard on the OP.

OP definitely sounds ready to purchase a Ryan jersey should we lose on Sunday.

Lose should be a banned word this week. What's wrong with you people?

Falcons have a great team and might be able to pull out the W on Sunday. If that happens, I don't think we as pats fans can even complain. We're lucky to have seen our team have so much success over the last 16 years. 4 titles and 7 super bowl appearances. There are lifelong browns fans who haven't seen there team even make 1 super bowl.

I probably didn't need to say this but I was just thinking about it today. When I saw the pats lose to favres packers in the super bowl, I never thought I would see the pats get back again. And they've been back 7 times. It's pretty crazy.

Hope our pats win on Sunday but if they dont, it's still been an incredible run.

Gottta enjoy the rare Falcon fan who looks up a Massachusetts zip code, joins a Pat fan website during Super Bowl week against his team, poses as a Pats fan and then tells us all its ok if they lose to the Falcons.

Go back to your taxpayer blood sucking dome team, their 15 minutes is about up.

Oh I assure you. I can and will complain. All the way through a bottle of Evan Williams.

I see your pout. Considering the first game I saw was when I was 6, the snow bowl against the raiders, I'd say I'm spoiled. But I know some other fans went through some other really tough times. If it's a really well played game by both teams and we lose, it's disappointing. But I have a really hard time seeing us lose against a defense this bad, the falcons defense is not good in close games.
If we have a the all with two minutes left down 4x. I will be placing a large wager on the pats.

Two things:

  1. They should already have won more, so adding this one is not enough. It will never be enough. They'll always be chasing the ones they lost, and even a couple they never got to the SB to fight for. It will never be enough in the moment. Only when it's over, as we look back, will it ever possibly be enough. And I'm sure BB and TB12 feel the same way.
  2. We're Patriots fans and (mostly) New England residents. We'll be complaining about things if they win, nevermind if they lose.

But you have a great day, and may your Falcons lose this Super Bowl but win one the first year after Brady's retirement.

I'm not a falcons fan
richie what you need to know about this board is it's filled with pom pom waving pinkhats who get highly offended if you say anything that is not perceived as 100% loyal to Tommy, BB and the Patriots. It's amusing. Ignore them. They're weenies.
You are right that we Patriot fans have been spoiled beyond our wildest dreams with this team over the past 17 years. If we lose tomorrow it will suck and we will critique and criticize about the game itself but you are right in saying that we as a fanbase have nothing to complain about with this team. Been a wild ride!!!!

Hello, my name is scout. I am a die-hard Patriots fan. I subscribe to Direct-TV just to have access to the Patriot games. One day, I had an over the fence conversation with a Steeler fan. I asked him if it was worth it. He said, if his team lost, he would lose a night's sleep and that loss would linger for a few days. I nodded in agreement. One time, my inlaws were in town and I was called to dinner............during a Patriot's game! Hmmmm, maybe that is why I'm divorced. To each his own, but I know, I'll get some nods of approval from other fans. To the rest, the win will not be as satisfying as to the people who nodded.

Funny how we both got two different meanings from his post.

I basically took it as a generic "This team has been historically great for a long time so keep that in mind regardless of what happens on Sunday" type post. We've seen that sentiment from a few posters over the last month or so and I didn't see this one as anything different.

I did not think he was ordering anyone to keep their mouth shut if they lose. hahahaha

This how I see it. I want the win badly for Brady, Belichick, and this team. As a fan though I feel spoiled and I can accept whatever happens. This is their second shot at making history and I feel like they are going to get it done but I'm not going to ***** if they don't. This is the greatest run of success in football history, I feel fortunate to be a fan of this franchise.
