Adam Schefter: Patriots want minimum of 1st and 4th round picks for QB Jimmy Garoppolo

Thomas and Davies would be great. Feel bad about letting Jimmy the G go, but I'm starting to come to terms with reality and the way Brady is playing Jimmy is probably gone.

Steep asking price for someone who's a product of the system. Just lol @ the team who pulls the trigger. Wouldn't be surprised if the Browns did just because.... well their the Browns.

Ian Rapapport claims the Patriots are already getting inquiries from potential trade partnets

Two obstacles remain at this point (1) The asking cost of a 1st rounder and (2) Whether Jacoby Brissett would be prepared enough, in his second year, to be the Patriots' backup if Brady gets injured

These team's are crazy. Pats are gonna ask for a first round pick. Plain and simple

Belichick isn't anxious to move him, if someone really wants him they will have to pay the price, otherwise he will simply keep him for another year and take the compensatory pick. A second simply isn't worth going without him next season. If I were Cleveland I would give the #12 overall for him and use the #1 overall for Garrett or Allen. They have plenty of picks and some decent young talent there and need a young QB with some experience more than another rookie. They will have a tough time convincing Cousins or other free agents to come there.

I think they would Franchise & Trade him instead. Partly because they could get somewhat more than the comp pick (but certainly less than this offseason) but mainly to control where he goes. Don't want him going to Buffalo or the Jets.

I'm not sure they could get much more with a 20 million plus tag on him. They might go with a lesser tag.

The conclusion reached by the CBS writer discussing the Ian Rapoport report defies common sense.

"The Browns have two first-round picks -- the first overall and No. 12, thanks to the Eagles -- but it's hard to imagine that they'd be willing to part with either of them for Garoppolo, mostly because Cleveland has so many needs up and down the roster."

In this writer's mind, filling other needs is more pressing than fielding a competent QB. Who needs QBs any ways?

Patriots reportedly open to trading Jimmy Garoppolo for a first-round pick

Cleveland is in a perfect spot that only Cleveland could **** up.

Run to the podium and take M.G. No one else is close.

Trade 12, trade back w/ 12 to extra picks then trade w/e pick in the 1st to the Pats for Jimmy.

W/e they do just get it done. Not often you can walk away with what happened to Oakland a few years back. Top 10 player in Mack and QB capable of success w/ pieces around him.

Getting more (or less) isn't a big deal when comparing to, at best, a late #3. Controlling where he goes is much more significant.

Does anyone really think Mitch Trabiski is a better choice for your first round pick than JG. At best he's a 2 year project and THEN it's anyone's guess. Any team that thinks they can start Trabiski in the NFL next season, and not scar him forever are idiots. IIRC he's only started one year in college. That would be as big a jump for him as JG coming from EIllinois and starting his first year here. It would have been a disaster

The only lesser tag is the transition tag that carries right of first refusal but no draft picks.

The tender levels only apply to RFAs.

Could Jimmy Garoppolo choose to stay with the Patriots?

Have you guys seen this my god if it happened. Basically saying if Jimmy loves it here and decided to wait for Brady to retire (3 years from now). Would he accept 10mill per year to back up Brady. I'd definitely pay him over getting a 1st and a 2nd.

I love the idea, but it's a business. An NFL career is short and he'd be able to get more from another team and start right away. Denver is a solid team and badly needs a QB. Pitt may be in the same boat. Arizona has potential.... There's a lot of places he can get paid and start for a winning team. If it's one year, maybe he stays. I can't see three.

Did they pick Brissett in the 3rd round just to be a long term #3 on our depth chart, behind a $10 million 2nd string QB?

Nope. Somebody is leaving the island.

It would be a gamble on JGs part that Brady hits the wall sooner rather than later. I think the kid is the real deal and I'd like to see it happen.

what happens if by that time Brisset looks just as good as a backup? w/ neither having a whole lot of starting experience itd be a crapshoot deciding who to keep...

i think you do whats best for brady's remaining years while body is still going...and you ride out the GOAT and deal w/ finding a backup in the meantime

you can let other great QBs go, but not the GOAT
