That has been one of my main hopes as well. I am surprised we have not used him more on those Gronk-esque seam routes.

Surprised as well. I'm not sure if his health situation is affecting that or not, but it's something that we all expected.

He potentially could be part of the solution but it doesn't appear as though Brady is terribly comfortable with him, and rightfully so.

I still think this was a move aimed at next season but all it takes is one big play, particularly this time of year.

I rarely even play fantasy football, but when there's a pre-determined formula that takes yardage, TDs, and interceptions thrown into account (with and without Rob Gronkowski, which was the point), I see nothing wrong in using some numbers to show the difference in production.

You can go to any other statistical site if you wish and see the same exact numbers with/without Gronkowski put into different wording, but since I was reading the article that I cited (38 interesting facts about the conference championships) I figured that I'd share the info. Use it. Don't use it. Keep scrolling. Don't. What the hell do I care?

I'm confused, is there someone arguing Brady is the same without Gronk? Or is the argument disparaging the use of FF numbers to prove the virtually axiomatic point that Brady is lesser with Gronk?

It's due to my choice to include a FF statistic, so I can appreciate the skepticism, but I still think it offers some value to the point being made.

Since you brought it up though, there was someone disputing how much the offense has changed, if at all, but they have some incorrect calculations.

We lost a very difficult to cover, solid blocking, requires extra attention and must game plan against Tight End. So the stat sheet that says there is no difference in Brady's potency with or without this TE better be etched on a stone tablet retrieved next to a burning bush. Otherwise whether FF numbers or not, color me skeptical Brady hasn't been notably impacted by Gronk's loss.
Fortunately one of the Patriots' strength is BB and staff's ability to adjust the roadmap to victory based on changing personnel/environment (though sometimes the right changes don't exactly happen overnight )

Just spitballing really.

Last week, the Patriots used Floyd rather than Amendola in their primary three-receiver set. Amendola played only three snaps in the first half compared to Floyd's eight. Floyd also moved into the primary two-receiver package when Hogan left the game with a thigh injury in the second half. By game's end, Floyd had played 44 snaps to Amendola's 21.

Based on that, Amendola could be edged out for a roster spot in the AFC Championship Game.

But Floyd and Brady had a few noticeable plays in which they weren't quite on the same page (an interception and then another near interception), so will that affect the team's decision-making if it ultimately comes down to Amendola or Floyd?

Also, Amendola has more playoff experience and adds value as a punt returner, which are other factors to consider.

That would be a tough call.

I'd lean toward Amendola in that situation, but does Bill Belichick see it the same way?
