OT: Why is the league head over heels to hire Fish's DC Vance Joseph?

If it was the Rooney rule we would merely be hearing about interviews. The reports are that teams love him.

You're right. Joseph has clearly distinguished himself as an outstanding coach in this league. The interviews and reported "interest" definitely have nothing to do whatsoever with the Rooney Rule.

Did you intentionally misread my post? I think he'll be a terrible coach.

If there was anything in your post indicating that you believed that, it would have been me misreading it. You seemed to think the Rooney Rule had nothing to do with it. If that's the case, then teams would believe that he's distinguished himself as a coach if those reports are true. I don't think he has. Most of the Dolphin fans I know agree with me.

Based on "league buzz" from "insiders" (very dubious sources, of course), teams aren't interviewing him because they have to, but because they want to. He's one of the "hottest" candidates on the market. Teams clearly love the guy, or his agent is leaking tons of false info.

Why do they (allegedly) love him? I have no idea. Even Dolphins fans want him gone, as you've said.

Probably because Matt Patricia and JM are staying put this year. So the head coaching choices are slim.

It's kind of easy to see why and it isn't because he's highly thought of around the league

He was the DB coach in Houston from '11-'13

Guess who coached in Houston '11-'13

Kubiak. But also the current OC Rick Dennison and DC Wade Phillips.

Them hiring Joseph would likely mean very little change as far as systems and coaches go.

Maybe you can somehow be punished for making a mockery of the Rooney rule now. Could see one team arbitrarily getting nailed hard. Seems like legit interest though and I would hope it's real and not just a Rooney rule thing ...I can't believe Vrabel has serious interest without being a coordinator let alone one unimpressive season as a DC.

I don't get it either. He doesn't have great experience even as a position coach and in one year as a DC coaches a defense that set a franchise record for yardage against.

I guess we should be happy. This means wade Phillips is out I suppose and the defense will slide.
I expected Kyle shanahan and Phillips staying. Denver may now be out of contention for 3-4 years.

Not sure about that... they let him leave, and he's headed to SD today and SF on Friday.

Report: Broncos to let Joseph leave without a deal
Sf I could see because he was there a long time so if he is one of those guys who is the kind of leader tha does better as a HC ownership should know.
Aside from that I don't know why he is being interviewed. The Rooney rule might be a possibility. Are there other minority candidates being interviewed? I mean I know Anthony Lynn but come on he shouldn't be a legitimate candidate.

I'm chill. I just don't see any evidence that "teams seem to like him" as I haven't seen him get hired yet. Further, if there is truth to it, I'm wondering why they like him if it doesn't have anything to do with the Rooney Rule. Perhaps you could help me out on that one? Give me a reason why if it's not that.

Only if the teams they interviewed with choose someone else.
They didn't interview to tell the teams thanks but don't consider me.
They will have jobs if they are considered the best hire.

I googled Anthony Lynn for the same reason. This was in one of the articles.

Lynn also has the distinction of having lived through being hit by a car and sent 50 feet in the air, so you know the guy has a shamrock over his head as far as luck. He will undoubtedly bring that luck and success wherever he lands in the NFL.

So I guess no one knows why he is getting interest either.

Teams are incredibly desperate, interviewing people from teams with any bit of success. This means playoff teams like the Dolphins who have suddenly had good seasons....

We are so damned lucky...

Schefter is saying Wade Phillips is most likely out. He will probably go to LA.

Wade Phillips leaving
