It's official: Roger Goodell's suspension of Brady failed

It effectively started today:

N.E., KC and OAK should have all had the same 4:25 PM game start, to insure that those three teams vying for the top seed, all had the same real-time information.

For once I'll cut the NFL some slack here. KC couldn't get the 1 seed. And even with the NE win, both had the 2 seed to play for.

Any normal franchise probably starts 2-2 at best. We started 3-1 and then ended 14-2. If Goodell was trying to craft the toughest mentally team in NE in a long time then he did well. Our Patriots are out for blood and seem to be so mentally and physically into this. They want that trophy and every playoff team better fear the Brady.
What's to dislike here? Roger, is that you?

i dont know if it backfired. You guys really think goodell cares about pats winning the whole thing inspite of this ? He could care less.Other owners might be pissed. He makes millions of dollars to do nothing. He tarnished the image of the greatest QB of all time, took away our draft picks, reaffirmed his power via the courts . I dont think it matters to him what pats do .We might feel this way like he is pissed the pats are doing well but i doubt he gives damn.
Nah, at the very least it a) is embarassing, and b) really does present him with an issue at the SB should they win. I mean, if I were him, I'd be afraid that BB would stick a knife in him on the podium. Or worse.

Agree which is why I focused on the appeal of Brady's suspension. Goodell could have just given up after Berman, and have just walked away with the draft picks. Instead he keeps the story in the news for 12 more months which caused the majority of fans and media to scrutinize further and realize Goodell was in the wrong here (even if they're thrilled about the result and feel it's "payback" for what they "should have" gotten during SpyGate....). And he caused no immediate extra damage to the Patriots, while giving their insurance policy some actual live game experience, and gave the possibility of him turning into assets to help lessen the draft pick penalty they had.

As for 2008, just do what I do to numb the pain: assume the Pats traded pick 31 into 2009, and then used the 2009 pick on Percy Harvin who then has injury and attitude issues and doesn't live up to his potential....

Yep. I never had an issue with Tom taking Goody to the mattresses.

My issue is with Bob.

Acquiescing to those scumbags still pisses me off.

I wouldn't underestimate the petty vindictiveness of Goodell and minions to try something at the last minute to try and derail the Pats....it,s not like they have an owner who has their back.....

This. Fixing a Pats game is not beyond the NFL's capabilities. Still, all the Pats can do is prepare to play and play the best they can - one game at a time.

How awesome would it be to see Brady unload on goodell and call him out for being the f'ing piece of s*** that he is in front of hundreds of millions of viewers as goodell is handing the Pats The Lombardi after the Super Bowl?

My only complaint with TB12 is that he's too classy of a guy to do that.

My hope is that someone like Edelman will step up and get it done.

Brady would needle him with humor: "I would like to thank the Commissioner for giving me time off for that Italian vacation I enjoyed with my family."

If we win the superbowl, I'd like us to send John Jastremski to receive it.

With a Doritos shirt

Cant the draft picks we get from jg end up being an upgrade from what they took away? I really dont think jg without legit gametime exp, let alone performing so well, gets us much in a trade.

And like i said in another thread, this whole thng probably adds years to bradys career knowing how much more motivated and pissed he is.

Hopefully there is another pathetic 'scandal' this year or next. This team has responded perfectly.

Imagine this scenario:
- Pats win the #1 seed (done)
- Pats go to the Super Bowl
- Pats win the Super Bowl
- Brady wins the MVP
- The Pats trade Garoppolo for a top ten pick and another high draft pick or more (something they would never get if Brady wasn't suspended)
- Ryan Grigson gets fired

If all this happens, the Pats will have officially won Deflategate especially with both the Colts and Ravens missing the playoffs.

This would be a good start. But where's the public apology from ESPN, and a complete exposee of all the back office shenanigans that went into a frame job. And then the part where Goddell is publicly shamed and fired? That's the true Hollywood ending that I'm holding out for.

The suspension also gives Brady a better schedule next year. We are probably talking playing an extra season with all the playoffs Brady's played. Thus, Four less games this year will help a 39 year old, for sure. Hey, thanks Rog...you duche bag.

We don't know the hit of the #1 pick.

That's the one that really hurts.

That's why I always wonder if the one from Spygate was a stud defensive player or impact offensive player does the team win in 2011, 2012 or 2013.

Jerk

Just to think. We could have had Myles Jack. He would've been unbelievable in this Defense.

IF he actually has the balls to show up at the AFC championship game (should the Patriots be fortunate enough to make it there, felt i had to add this for non jinxing purposes, lol). I hope the hate is still strong enough that every Patriots fan there is loud and makes sure he's aware how unwelcome he is, so much so that hes forced to leave!

We haven't seen or heard much from goodell lately. He's crawled back under his rock after the embbarresment of the pats having the best record in football, and brady being the odds on favorite to win the MVP. Goody tried his best to de-rail the pats, but TB,BB, and the team used goodells punishment as motivation to get to where they are.

I think the Steelers balls measuring 11.8 and 11.4, with the NFL* not investigating further, along the the Giants' cheating being given such a laughable penalty, Goodell may not want to be anywhere near someone who may ask questions about these rulings.
