I think SEA can take the title if they allow fewer than -20 points (sic) today.

You just gave me a great idea, When the defense scores, take pointd off the board for the other team, I just revolutionized scoring in football

And the Pats have now officially finished the regular season with the #1 scoring defense in the NFL, allowing 15.6 points per game.
If someone told me that in August I would have been beyond giddy.

The #1 scoring defense in the NFL and fewest points allowed in 3 years..

Your New England Patriots.

I think a lot of people pre season thought the Pats were going to be a top 5 defense. But if you asked me 8 weeks ago I would have never thought the Pats would be the #1 scoring defense.

I figured top 10 but top 5 was attainable.

The great thing is they are playing like it. Good offense or crappy offense. Doesn't matter

The defense had some hiccups today against the hurry up and crossing routes. I hope they learned something from it. The interesting thing is they are unlikely to face a team that has the personnel at WR the Dolphins do.

Other teams have better WRs but no team has a #3 as scary as Stills/Parker (whoever you consider the #3) as a true WR. That guy for most other teams is a TE or RB so i doubt they will face it again unless they see the dolphins in the post season.

GB potentially has it in Nelson/Adams/Cobb but they will be hard pressed to make it. Pitt's #3 WR is a RB. KC is Kelce/Maclin and whatever else.

They had a big lead and allowed some underneath passes. Not a big issue. Aside from those 2 drives in 8 drives Miami had 7 first downs. Including 5 3 and outs out of 8. They gained 125 yards on those 8 drives, and scored no points.

If you play that well on 8 of 10 drives you had a great defensive day regardless of what happened on the other 2.

Oh I agree no matter what it was a good defensive day even with those drives. Very good actually but i don't believe the Pats just took their foot off the gas. I think Miami found something there to exploit on us. I think it had to do with the fact Butler is very good but Ryan/Rowe though pretty decent aren't special and they had better #2/#3 WRs than we did #2/#3 CBs and where able to exploit it with crossing routes.

We did adjust but it took time. but it illustrates to me at least that teams that have 3 legit WRs we need to put 3 CBs on can win against our 2nd and 3rd CB if they are able to isolate it without help. Eventually they tightened up so the CB could play closer without risk of the WR getting behind them and it shut it down but it is something to look at.

However like i said very few teams have the personnel to pull it off. Also it was something the Pats have not seen much all year (Seattle was the only other team cause i consider Graham a WR) but the Pats showed the can adjust to it and now that they have seen it more recently will be ready for it if they seen it again in the playoffs which i don't think they will.

Who would say that? I heard a sports expert named Michael Felger say the Patriots defense stinks and has only been playing better recently so all of this other talk about them being good is dumb.

Thsts why he should stick to hockey and sarcasm.

mia almost had a 3rd scoring drive until mccourty stopped that

This defense had a better year than the 2014 Seahawks.

That's super impressive considering how good that team was and how stingy that D was.

Awesome stuff.
