OT: Revis says the Jets should treat him with class

Bound to end at some point. Was never the same after the injury. Did well in NE, but never hit that truly elite (GOAT) form he had for like 3 to 4 years.

Takes a rare combination of drive, work ethic, athleticism and brains to do what he did. Inevitably the athleticism, and most likely drive too, fell off.

If you're creating a best of all time for one game team, Revis in his prime is one of the CBs. Now, after this season, he wouldn't even be the #1 on most teams.

Revis as a GOAT CB for 1 game is a discussion.

In my lifetime, Deion, Champ, Darrell Green, Charles & Rod Woodson, Mike Haynes, Lester Hayes and Mel Blount are in the discussion.

Pick any 2 and you are in like flynn.

I like Revis. He helped the Patriots win a Super Bowl and he screwed the Jets over twice. We should give him a red jacket in 5 years.

Yup. I could very easily be biased being a Jet fan, but what Revis did for those few years is up there with what any athlete has done in any sport. May not have been the most exciting (like catching/throwing TDs, scoring goals, 40yd dash times, strike outs, homeruns...), but continually going 1-on-1 vs some of the top athletes in the world and shutting them down was damn impressive. And he could tackle too.

So Revis definitely has one spot on my GOAT team.

The other CB? If it's purely about coverage, give me Deion. But if tackling is a concern, no clue who I'd pick.

Revis is in that company which is HoF caliber. Like the rest of those guys, I'd have no issue with Revis on a GOAT team.

Still baffles me why Lester Hayes is not in the HoF. After 1980 QBs stopped throwing to his side for 5 years. Period. He was just as good as Mike Haynes. Better pure cover CB IMO.

jeezus krist...when does the green noxious idiocy stop? Deion, Rod Woodson, Ronnie Lott...then Mel Blount, Willie Brown,Darrell Green,Lem Barney,Lester Hayes and Mike Haynes....Mevis is hyped because of the mongo hysteria of the NY market. It's always "we're the best!!!" even if you're a sad sack, shyt stink 46 straight year LOSER. STFU.

This could be a response to most of your posts, but the stupidity here was especially deserving.

Cheers bud!

Had Revis put in a few more seasons of quality play I'd rank him right up there with the best. But he only played at a top level for half of his 10 year career.

Little before my time there. Born '79. I'll have to watch some highlights sometime if they exist.

That's one of the reasons I'm not making a case for greatest career CB. He has failed there miserably. What I'm mainly saying is in his prime, he was the best CB ever.

Google Lester Hayes. Hes all over the place.

Same build and style of play as Revis. Real physical. Striking actually. He'd still kick ass in todays league.

and I'm telling you you're plain NUTS.Obviously you never saw Deion or Lott in their primes and the others I listed either hit far harder, had far more INT's or both. Shut up you stupid ,idiotic green puke of a moron pom pom waver.

Revis for some reason talked a lot of smack during his career. What goes around comes around I guess.

Treating Revis with class at this point would be to say "Please don't like the doorknob hit you on the way out the door."

I hear what you're saying.

But I just imagine it looking something like this...

(I'm suggesting you're talking out of your @ss and you basically have no idea what you're saying.)

Even for someone born in 79, ever is a long time. My ever goes back to the year 40BB, so I've seen a few more CBs who could cover a WR one on one. I can't call Revis the best.

Also, I can't stand the guy on a personal level. The way he handled his first contract with the Jets was despicable and soured me on him very early. I enjoyed it because it hurt the Jets but I couldn't stomach the guy after that. I'm glad that he's gone.

Good points, but also keep in mind the rules of the game at the time the CBs played. Things were much easier for WRs, QBs and the passing game in general in Revis' era. Even vs Deion's time.

I'll bet you're thrilled your off-season is about to start. Five months is a long wait!

He's a typical greentard Rat fan, Tunes....
