Gus Bradley For DC

His D certainly wasn't responsible for that SB. Yes Butler made the key play, however it doesn't come to that unless Brady pulls his magic. Brady got us that SB win. Nobody can dispute that.

Who put Butler in? Matt Patricia. Who called the formation? Matt Patricia. Who was it that had the defense practice against that particular play call several times on the Friday before the SB? Matt Patricia.

He would not be stupid to take the opportunity especially if you're thinking in terms of the financial gain. I just don't know if he's ready.
I also think while most coordinator jobs are one step below head coach, defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots is not one of them. BB is very hands-on with the defense. Arguably, Matt Patricia while he may be very good at his job, may not have the same level of autonomy that other coordinators have.
Tha makes no sense.
You think being a DC and NOT being tutored by bill belichick on how to be a HC is better?
You are grasping at straws now.
Patricia performs every function that any DC performs. The fact that his supervisor is a genius doesn't make his experience worse it makes it better.

We'll let's look back at that postseason shall we. Who allowed the Ravens to get up two tds on two separate occasions? If it wasn't for Goat, we would've lost. They were bad. Brady carved up the Colts. D could've been mediocre that day and they still win. Nonetheless good job. Now onto Seattle. I'll give you they shut down Seattle after having a ten point lead. I will also point out his D was a Seahawks brain fart ( Still great int) away from letting yet another Brady magical performance go to waste. But oh well. We won.

I don't think every coach under BB is a genius. There is a reason they fail elsewhere. Could it be the only actual "genius" is Bill himself?

No I'm not suggesting he will fail elsewhere. Look at McDaniels, Pioli, etc..

Clearly you don't remember nearly as well as you would like everyone to believe you do.

You're acting like Brady didn't have a hand in the team going down by 14 either time, when, in fact, he's the one who makes the offense tick. Brady's interception was the catalyst for them going down by 14 the 2nd time.

And let's forget that the offense failed to do anything with the ball coming out of Half-Time.

After that early TD in the 3rd quarter, the defense shut down the Ravens.

Brady didn't "carve" up the Colts D. The Colts D was horrible and the running game and Defense was responsible for that win.. (hint: 226 yards passing is not "carving up a defense".)

Patricia might not want a head coaching job or just might not be suited for one. Not all competent coordinators are cut out to be head coaches.

heh heh....like Fatso Fogarty up there in Barfalo...

This thread is bad and you should feel bad

I don't disagree with you - except I was not aware you (or anyone) was accurately aware of the specific functions of any of our coordinators or coaches.
I think Matt Patricia seems like a guy who is coming into his own as a coach/coordinator, but I don't know how any owner/GM can say he is ready to be a Coach.
I think the NFL is full of terrible coaches with a few bright spots, so maybe I am the wrong person to assert who is ready to become a head coach.

Ironic because I don't as responding to your claim that he doesn't do what other coordinators do.

Yes you are.

"Arguably, Matt Patricia while he may be very good at his job, may not have the same level of autonomy that other coordinators have."
I said "may not"...because I don't know.

You saying, "Patricia performs every function that any DC performs," sounds like you know exactly what he does...So I will take the backseat to you on this.

Because his defenses sucks just look at the yardage stats.. and the lack of big highlight plays.. and we are always in zone.. and he let two superstars in Jones and Collins go.. and the team clearly hates him..

Did I miss any other stupidity that floats around ?

I hope he sticks around for 1-2 more years.. also there is no way we will hire from the outside..

They're 10th in yards allowed. Your argument doesn't hold water.

Good decision

Call me weird but I kind of want Patricia to succeed BB rather than McDaniels. I feel like he's more mature and has more of a BB "feel" to him. Hard to explain. Just a hunch

a hunch? ...like The Hunchgoose of Notre Dame? BTW, shouldn't you be on the run or undercover...after all, it's Christmas and you know who they cook for dinner, right?
