Game over for rest of the league: Brissett is back

Per your logic we must lock up Jimmy long term now and say goodbye to Brady after next year. You may be right but I don't see that happening. If Brady thinks he has 5 more years then he probably has at least 3 more good years.

We'll see. If Jimmy is still on this team past the trade deadline next year we will be in for a shocker. If I ran the Patriots what I would do is try to do is try to convince Jimmy to agree to an extension with the promise that he will be Bradys heir apparent.

Shmessy, I couldn't disagree more. I watched him closely in training camp, preseason and his limited game action and he's very inconsistent with where he releases the ball in addition to having a wind-up that needs to tighten considerably. I don't know how much of his problem with mechanics has to do with processing information in the heat of battle, but Brissett is very raw as a passer. He has a strong arm but lacks touch. He's pretty much a work in progress with key selling points being arm strength and coachability. I'm surprised to see him activated; maybe they have plans to give him reps in relief if the Jets and Miami games are blowouts.

Good points all, Tune, but I mentioned he is very raw. I don't want to see him anywhere near the field in a meaningful game until at least 2019 or later.

Parcel's said the kid is the rare type who takes coaching and can actually IMPLEMENT it. Reiss reported the coaches saying in TC something on the same vain.

Demeanor-wise Brissett holds himself with remarkable poise and maturity. Is he a sure thing? Heck no. But I have not been so impressed with a raw rookie qb in a long time that I have been impressed with Jacoby Brissett.

Whatever he needs to work on, the book on him from Parcells and the coaching staff and BB (the road trip thing) points to him being able to implement in time.

Interesting take. I've kinda seen the opposite with his throwing motion. Seems like he has an elongated release and is more of a gunslinger. Don't get me wrong, I really like the kid and think he has a solid future in the NFL; I just don't see the Brady throwing motion. I actually see Jimmy's throwing motion being closer to Brady's

Jimmy doesn't come over the top. More Brees like - might be because of height. They list him at 6'2" but I'd be surprised if he was much over 6.

JAG did not impress in his 1st camp. Inaccurate. Slow to release, he was saved by the no-touch rule in camp enabling his plays. But good coaching + hard work brought forth his talent. Brady's 1st camp was decent but unimpressive to the casual fan, but not to BB. In sharp contrast was his 2nd 2001 camp where to the non-professional eye he outperformed The Statue.

So, what we're seeing here is that like in 2000 where 1st camp Brady was pretty much a stealth rookie, Bisquick has shown attributes in his 1st camp admired by BB and the staff.

Jacoby will never be better than Jimmy, trading Jimmy is trading our future away, Jacoby is all hopes and wishes, Jimmy is the real deal

I think you need to come to grips that if a team comes along and offers Bill a 1st rd pick for Jimmy, he is gone. If a team does not do that, he most likely will stay.

Because that is a possibility, BB wants Brissett practicing and preparing to be the #2 QB in 2017.

If Jimmy stays in 2017, then Brissett remains #3 QB.

This is the New England Patriots.

They haven't made a "promise" to any player this century. And they won't until BB is gone.

The fact is Brady is going to play at least 2 more years (or he intends to). There is no way we can keep JG cooling his heels on the bench any longer. His value is high - especially with the dearth of good QB play in the league. Sell high - and Jimmy is high right now. Even if we thought he could be the replacement we hoped, Brady continuing to play makes that moot. And honestly it is iffy at best that he is the QB of the future.

I'm voting along with those who say this is more writing on the wall that Aladdin is on the trading block. They're devoting a roster spot to making sure that the rookie is ready to take over backup duties next season.

IMO that's encouraging all around -- that they like what they see from Brissett, and that they expect a robust trade market for Garappolo.

Not a done deal, of course, but I can see the Bears giving us a very high second and maybe a 3rd for Jimmy and BB grabbing it.

Then the Bears become my favorite NFC team.

I agree, and I suspect they know what the market for Jimmy will be like as they are already fielding inquiries on his availability and have a good feel what sort of compensation they can expect to receive.

You know, because of his strength and size, perhaps they are considering using Jacoby as a Tight End for awhile, see how he does as a WR, or something else out of the box.

Yah, I would follow & root for Da Bayiz were JAG their QB. Sadly, if so I would also expect Josh to be their HC.

His 21 days are up.

IMO, at this point there's no question JG gets traded this offseason. They've seen it worth their while not only to keep Brissett around when he was on IR, but to also waste a roster spot.

My guess is either Richards or Coleman get the ax. Maybe Coleman as Richards contributes on ST, but who knows how his knee is now.
It does seem like a waste of a roster spot. There is zero chance he will play and he could have just been IRd

Like others have said in the past, send Jimmy to the Browns and we'll never have to know regret.

Or incase Brady goes down in the playoffs and Jimmy winds up getting hurt as well, I would want all 3 QBs active for safe measure rather than just Jimmy if Brady were to go down and being screwed if something happened to Jimmy as well and being left with Edelman as the backup QB, obviously unlikely to to happen but its the NFL, smarter to have Jacoby on the roster as well instead of running with just one backup

Let's put it this way - BB had to explain why he brought Floyd on the trip - for educational purposes. Brisket has made every trip while he was on IR - even the SF one.

It's unusual that someone who is not on the active roster travels with the team. I can remember exceptions like Wilfork or Mayo. It's kinda a big deal, no?

No, he's going to be damn good. NFC please.

Early into the Christmas "egg nog" I see?

Hey, Just thinking outside the box. Wouldn't have to be permanent, but it could be a way for him to be useful the rest of the year, then go back to being the #3 QB when TC rolls around next spring.
