Vrabel. By all accounts the Patriots were the worst team in football in 24', and just as bad in 23'. No one wanted to play here and the consensus was that it would take years to contend again. Belichick's Patriots had Bledsoe, Law, McGinest, Faulk etc..., they weren't completely devoid of talent.
This, plus, much of the core of the ‘01 team had a year in Belichick’s culture and system.

I'm not sure what the odds were for the Patriots to win the SB were back in 2000 - but I'd say that Vrabel has slightly over-achieved as far as the +8000 pre-season odds.

They made history and just have one more chapter.

There was no where to go but up this year. I still think Mayo was telling the truth when he said he was hired to be "a black coach" instead of just saying he was hired to be the head coach. I truly believe Mayo was telling the truth and Kraft hired Mayo as a DEI coach Basically a coaching hire without merit. And I suspect this DEI hire was made by Kraft to improve his image coming off the massage parlor scandal. Mayo by rumors was a possible backstabber to the previous staff as well. Many of us called the red flags as soon as that disaster of a decision was made and announced at the infamous press conference. Any hire after Mayo was fired was going to probably be an improvement. But Vrabel has massively exceeded expectations.

No offense, but why does one have to be “better” than the other? Can’t we just appreciate the hell out of BOTH of them?

Rant over. I’m too happy to rant longer.

Mayo was being hyped up by the local media for a few years and Bob Kraft believe it. This was why Mayo quickly rejected the Panthers interview and re-signed with the Pats during the 2022 offseason. Bob gave him the successor clause which BB did not approve of. Mayo started his back stabbing the moment he know the season was going south knowing BB was going to get fired.

If Vrabel wins 3 out of the next 4 then this discussion has a real place here.

Last I checked 3 owns 1.

Too early. Belichick closed the deal against a Rams team thought to be invincible. Vrabel hasn’t had his shot yet.
