Perhaps you didn't notice that I was making the case that the team will more than likely trade him if they get even one first rounder. I'm just not sure if there is a team out there that will give up a first rounder and another pick for him. But, then again, you didn't specify what you think the team will want.
They'll probably be more than likely to go that route if Brady falls off a cliff. Short of that? I think it takes merely a first rounder to ship him out of New England.
The second part here contradicts the first--the second part is correct.I honestly don't think Bill knows what he's going to do otherwise he would have already done it. The smartest thing would be to wait until the off season
If someone's willing to give you a first based on six quarters of play, you take the pick and run.
Not necessarily, I would wait until after the 2017 season and make the decision as to what your gonna do. If Bill is being sincere when he says there is a seamless transition from Brady to Garrapolo.. its not a cut and dry decision. Going into the 2018 season Brady will be 41 at the start of the season and Garrapolo will be 27.
Realistically your going to get 10-11+ years from Garrapolo to most likely 2 years with Brady from 2018 and on...
he's worth more than a 1st rounder........you can't get that QB in the draft with a first rounder, therefore he is worth more than a 1st rounder....they have deshon kizer going top 5......are you kidding me? garoppolo should be worth 3 1st rounders if that's the case
OTOH, Brady is the MVP frontrunner right now, has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down, and again, Garoppolo has played 6 quarters of meaningful football. If both paths have anywhere even close to equivalent merit, and one gets you a first round pick for good measure, that's the one you take 10 times out of 10.
He also only has a 6 quarter sample size and slowed down considerably when the Dolphins adjusted to what the Pats were doing on offense before getting knocked out of the game. Sure, he looked great, but it's still only a 6 quarter sample size. There might be a team dumb enough to give more than a first for Garoppolo but I'm thinking that if Brady continues to play like the MVP and even one first rounder gets offered, Belichick is going to take it.
I agree with your premise but the first round pick carries with it value beyond the talent of a he player because it locks him in for 5 years on a relatively cheap contract. One also has to remember any trade for Jimmy G at this point really only guarantees one full year of service with the team holding an option to franchise him for the following year. Then you have the whole question about whether Jimmy G can pick up the new system in a year and perform the way he did in the patriots system that he's been in for three years. And lastly, if I'm a GM looking at trading for him in the off season, I'm Im thinking really hard about whether he knows how to stay healthy after seeing him get knocked out of his second game as a starter.he's worth more than a 1st rounder........you can't get that QB in the draft with a first rounder, therefore he is worth more than a 1st rounder....they have deshon kizer going top 5......are you kidding me? garoppolo should be worth 3 1st rounders if that's the case
I don't know why this notion keeps popping up, because it's not true.He also only has a 6 quarter sample size and slowed down considerably when the Dolphins adjusted to what the Pats were doing on offense before getting knocked out of the game.

His first three drives went for TDs and he had 3 incompletions total on them, as Miami went 3 & out three times. The Pats would have won about a 100 to nothing if that kept up, so it's obviously not sustainable.
On the next Pats' drive he had a couple of incompletions and the Pats punted. Happenstance. The next two drives, he drove the Pats to the Miami 42, first down, and Amendola fumbled; and on the drive he got hurt, Brissett took over on the Miami 21, first down. JG had a couple of incompletions on each drive, but was still leading the team down the field so I don't really think you can say he "slowed down considerably."
It's a false narrative, that's all. Amendola fumbling isn't Miami slowing JG down.He did. Sure the pace they were going at was unsustainable but when the Dolphins adjusted and started playing press, the pressure started to get in his face. That said, it's not hard to come to the conclusion that he slowed down considerably since he was playing like the GOAT in the previous three drives before that.

On the drive Amendola fumbled, it was at the end of a 15 yard gain for a first down on the Miami 42.On the drive Amendola fumbled, the Pats were no longer picking up chunk yardage either as they had in the first three.
jimmy isn't going anywhere.
