I don't really get the garbage time thing. Browns were still out there trying to make plays and Roberts was given playing time and he played well. Obviously no-one wants him out there over Hightower or Collins but go watch Freeney in garbage time situations, never seen him come close to having a performance like Roberts had and that's what this comes down to. Roberts or Freeney and right now based off of his performance I would rather have Roberts out there as the MLB when Pats go 3 LB.

This is probably why he got in ahead of Grugier-Hill and why I am sat at home content managing and not working in Foxboro

it was garbage time because by the end of their 3rd offensive possession, the Pats had 23 points.....they averaged MORE than a TD per possession...while the opponent lost their 3rd starting QB....this is when Roberts first stepped onto the field.......you could say he was put to the test a little more stringently than in a preseason game.

don't get me wrong, he did his job, but the situation was already settled....the browns weren't going to do anything......you know it, I know it, everyone knows it

i usually define garbage time as when both teams know the game is out of hand and send in their backups to play out the rest of the clock.

while the patriots did have a big lead and the browns were on their 4th QB, i don't think the browns pulled any of their starters and i think they were still trying to win. so in that sense, i don't think it was garbage time.

but in every other sense, it was garbage time.......you knew as well as I knew the game was already decided

it was garbage time against a garbage offense with zero at stake.......there's no need to get all defensive

color me unconvinced

I don't dispute any of that and I'm not defensive. I'm just coloring you WRONG for saying that it was "******ed" to claim that he faced Joe Thomas. He clearly did, on one of his best plays. He had an impressive game, and it was one game. Nobody is fitting him for a Hall of Fame jacket or even making him into a starter. That level of hype is just an imaginary boogeyman that you created.

one play.........I'd love to see what thomas would do to him if the opportunity presents itself

Film Review: Elandon Roberts could be the next great Patriots linebacker

EDIT: like I said ..... it is ******ed.....and your imaginary boogeyman comment? STUPID

Your beef is which Rich Hill, or really with whatever intern stuck the stupid title on his article with the words "the next great Patriots linebacker". Writers don't generally make the titles for their copy, and the article in no way argues that Roberts is or could be the "the next great Patriots linebacker" on the basis of one game.

Nobody here agrees with the title of that article, and I don't think Rich Hill does either.

By the way, to the millions of people who have dealt with the very serious issues of autism, delayed development, and other serious mental health issues, throwing around the word "******ed" at every comment is really just about as offensive as using the N-word. It's not appropriate, ever.

I don't care what you think

you have trouble with FACTS.

If Elandon keeps playing like this, i think it's conceivable we lose either Hightower OR Collins and still remain at least decent with the LB corps. He is playing like a starter.

(Disclosure - I don't want that to happen, but now i think Butler is top priority, and we can play the leverage game with HT and Collins)

Thought he had a great game today!!!! Made a real difference for our D!!!!

He made some very good plays again today. What a nice gift, just like finding money! .

Kid looks very natural and instinctive out there. That's exciting.

Completely disagree.
