Is Danny Amendola the next domino to fall?

TB12 could be suspended four games and Jimmy would probably grab a 4-0 head start for him.

Gronk
Edelman
Gordon
Bennett
Hogan
Lewis

Resign Blount or draft someone for the backfield. Oh my God...could be the best offense ever assembled. Unlikely but you never know.

At least until Goodell suspends Gordon for taking some aspirin

im pretty sure he was with kay for awhile..they could be done though.
they were on the parade boat together

Thats right....forgot about that.

The Two TE formation with Bennett who is the real deal just made Danny Amendola expendable...not to mention Mr. Hogan. Pats could double dip[ early on at WR finding guys who can do exactly what they are looking for ie...an Outside the numbers guy also one that could work the slot.
Agree that the acquisition of Bennett does impact Amendola's role on offense, if everyone is healthy. His salary, yes, remains out of whack for what it looks like his role would be, but it doesn't necessarily follow that they team would be better if they got rid of him. Now if they had to spin him to CLE for Gordon or move/cut him to accommodate some other salaries then I'd understand. But they're looking at $17.6m in space right now according to Miguel (minus Ebner, Long, McClellin, and Brown hits), so maybe still as much as $13m? And they'd be eating $2.7m of that remaining space to cut Amendola and add, say, Nate Washington? Sorry if that's not exciting.

I get the general affection the board has for the guy, but there's just no way he's worth the number he's at now.

A red X will never be neutral. Symbolism is far more influential in human communications than logic ever will be. That's why 80% of what's communicated in FTF verbal interactions is body language, tone, and facial expressions, regardless of the content of what is said. The red X is the same thing, particularly if it isn't explained immediately after by the disagreeable party.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Good for him. Girl has a very nice turd cutter.
You're truly gifted when it comes to descriptive terms involving poop and things associated with it, man.

when it comes to punt and kick returns, Amendola is still needed.......
Not at 5 mil. He needs to accept a pay cut to stay on and I'd be surprised if the team hasn't informed him of that already and offered a lesser deal.

Wasn't that right at the same time when Martellus Bennett was being traded here? Is he saying he is praying he's next to be traded here?

I believe it was approximately around the time Bowe and Dansby were released from Cleveland.

You're right, Bennett trade news wasn't til around 7:00, and his tweet was around 3:45, I just looked. Your explanation makes more sense.

Are people already dismissing Martin, Harper and Dobson? You've got to figure one or two of those three will be around, although I think people here are too quick to underestimate Amendola's value and I'd like to see him stay (don't forget his kick/punt return skills). Adding a rookie speedster to the group would seem plausible going into camp but I don't see the need to do much more.

I'd be happy with this bunch:

Edelman
Amendola
Hogan
Martin
Dobson or Harper or rookie

I'm absolutely dismissing Dobson and Harper. Neither of them has shown anything in the last 2 years to indicate that they belong in the NFL. Martin, though, is a good WR4 / potentially adequate WR3. If they show up and become assets then that's great, and it certainly could happen, but expecting anything from them is not prudent at all from a team-building perspective.

Amendola zero returns for TD.. Martin has two, both punt returns.

Martin has the better KR avg, but Amendola has the better P/R avg.

Amendola 30 yrs old, Martin 26 yrs old

Martin was 26 two days ago, Amendola turns 31 in November. #context

Currently Amendola 6.8m or Martin 1.2m cap hit.

The $6.8M number is irrelevant to the choice of whether to keep/cut Amendola. What matters is $4M, which is the amount saved by cutting him. And $1.4M, which is the amount saved on next year's cap if you cut him this year and avoid taking a dead cap hit then.

true regarding the money, but if they let him go, the need will have to be addressed unless you want to watch harper screw the pooch

I knew my dad was on to something when he used to call me "**** for brains".
