NFL Appeal oral arguments thread

I know that you can explain it with science. I think you are arguing with yourself here. The point is that there is not enough precision in measurement to say that with any certainty what the beginning PSI reading was, what conditions were at the moment those measurements were taken, what the conditions were that each ball were subjected to (some were in play, some were in a bag for most of the half) and the conditions that existed at the moment each half-time measurement was taken, not to mention at what point after being taken back into the locker room each reading was taken. I don't think anyone is arguing that it doesn't appear that science can explain the deflation, they are saying that you can't argue otherwise because of all the uncertainties involved.

Right! There is no proof of any wrong doings whatsoever...case should never have made it to commissioner's office. Pretty sure we on the same side here.

That does not change the fact that Wells knowingly presented a false report. I do not understand the logic that since we believe the NFL asked him to find guilt that he did nothing wrong by manufacturing it.
If you hire me to go convince your neighbor that some guy is banging his wife, and I make up evidence to make him think its true and he beats the crap out of the guy and his wife, I am not blameless because I did the job you hired me to do.

Sounds like you are saying the Wells Report contains false statements of fact and/or makes up evidence that doesn't exist. I can't say I have vetted the 240-plus pages, but this would shock me. Since you have accused him of something very serious and something that a laywer of his caliber would avoid at all costs, I think you should provide us with at least one example.

Huh? No doubt Goodell requested proof of guilt. Wells chose to put together a factual inaccurate, scientifically incorrect, and intellectually dubious report.
Are you really saying that since Goodell asked him to write a dishonest report, and paid him to do so, that this make Wells hands clean? Really?

I'm saying he did the job he was asked to do. Are you arguing with somebody else through me? I think everyone involved in this is scum, but the lying reporters and lawyers did not initiate this, they are hired help.

If the character Kathy Bates played in Waterboy posted here, I think her posts would resemble this one in many respects. Although I doubt that she would use the word "patina".

So they taught you that ad hominem is a sound strategy at Suffolk University Law School? Yeah, score one for the lawyers. lol

Oh, the irony.

Not an ad hominem attack at all, btw. You have a much richer vocabulary than the Waterboy script writer. That is a good thing, methinks.

You are kidding right? The entire exponent report is bogus.
But some examples?
Ok. Anderson said he used the logo Gauge and had no doubt yet wells reported that when pressed he said it was a possibility he used the other. Wells found Andersons memory not credible.
The photo of the gauges in the report was manipulated to make the differences look much less than they are.
There were 11 footballs measured at halftime but 2 were missing (dqwell Jackson ball and declined tv). The only mention of this is that Anderson said it was a possibility that he put 13 balls in the bag.
Patriot security recounted that McNally often took the balks to the field alone. This was ignored.
McNally described the "stressed" text as being about tickets and a friend. The friend corroborated. Wells found that not credible without any evidence to the contrary.
wells set up Brady with the phone issue.
That's just off the top of my head.
It goes on and on.

Go read the wells report context.
You won't be such a big Ted wells fan after you do.
