Every team has dealt with some injuries this year just like every season....but this seems to be one of the ....if not THE ....WORST year we have had for injuries on both sides of the ball...

So what is the deal this year?! Poor strength and conditioning?! Just plain bad luck!? Going to be a tough game tomorrow instead of a cakewalk......All I care about is getting EVERYONE back for the playoffs....

Amazing what this team has been able to achieve with all the injuries they have sustained!! GO PATS!

Short memory, stc?

2001: You remember when we disastrously lost our franchise starting quarterback in 2001, and filled his spot with this unproven "system" quarterback/game manager? Then when "the kid" becomes the star... ankle injury in AFCCG - and back comes Bledsoe. Oh yeah, and best receiver on the team deactivated, because Belichick didn't jack around with "motivating" a guy by using feminine pronouns.

Most important position on the field, twice. Super Bowl. But you're looking for quantity.

2003: Non-injury news - Lawyer "This Team Hates Its Coach" Milloy shuffles off to Buffalo.

Pats go on to start 42 different players, the NFL record for a division winner until the 2005 Pats start 45.

And don't even get me started on how long Brady's been toughing out that shoulder injury

However, if you want to go on the suicide watch...

So yeah we're banged up. Some of that goes away by two weeks from this weekend, when we have to play an important game. Some of it doesn't. Next man up.

Take away losing Dion Lewis and Solder and we're actually looking like we can potentially have our first playoff game with a reasonably healthy bunch.

That 2003-2004 stretch was all that more remarkable because of the record amount of injuries the Pats sustained and still went on to break NFL records for wins. Until the rules were Polianed the Pats DEFENSE was unstoppable, and now the same has been true for the OFFENSE. All while having the NYJFL trying to knock us off our perch. No wonder they hate us.

89 kinda sucked.

08 was brutal too.

Last year we only had Nink and Chandler and they made it through. This year we only have Butler and Ryan and fingers crossed they will make it through. There is always a silver lining. I hope Donta stayed home too.

Yeah 1960... the JEST and the Lolphins spy and "That's Football." The Pats play the same game and "OMG THE GAME IS AT RISK!!!!!"

Meanwhile, Cheaton Manning is "innocent until proven guilty." Brady, on the other hands, appears to face a Hobson's choice between the Rules and the Law... and I mean the Ideal Gas Law.

Can't wait for the next big headline.... "Pat's punter's ball drops accelerating earthward at 9.8 meters per second per second!!!!!! League Confiscates 1st rounder!"

Back to the main point...

We could lose an important (for seedings) game. But we can't miss the playoffs.

We could also win the game. We might even see some good play from backups... not an unheard-of situation in New England.

We get to see some intriguing performances when fate deals us a crap hand. And that Jackson guy? Maybe he's got enough in the tank to get us through a game or two

Yeah, except for Easley.
And Vollmer.
And Blount.
And Chung and McCourty.
Not to mention Edelman and Amendola.
Oh yeah, and Hightower and Jones.
Wendall too.
And Devlin.
But other than we're as healthy as an Ox.

I've said this from the beginning but it bear's repeating.

I look at all of this crybaby cheating stuff the same way as I would having someone accuse me of cheating on my wife. I couldn't care less because I know I didn't do it.

If anything, the Pats get an edge having all of these dopes searching for bugs in the locker room and all the other crap. Hell, PEDton Manning and Preacher Dungy used to have conversations outside their locker room at Gilette. Money can't buy that space in another team's head.

Blount I can handle. Devlin makes me sad.

Chung, McCourty, Vollmer, Edelman, Amendola, Nink, Hightower and Jones are all looking likely to be ready to play at full or near full speed by our first playoff game. Which is what I was getting at. We've had a ton of injuries but if things pan out right we could be as health as we've been since like, game 4 when we host the first game in Foxboro.

I have never seen anything like this year when it comes to injuries. I think the job the coaching staff has done this year is beyond comparison.

It is so hard to live the "next man up" mantra when the next man up should be working as a bouncer at a third rate night club.

Can't speak for the number of injuries but I believe it was 1989 in the second game of the season we lost Tippet, Lippett and was it......Fryar to season ending IR???
Anyway that is equivalent of losing Collins, Butler and Jules for the season in the same damn game in September......and that isn't counting any other of the 15 games that had injuries.

((forgive my inaccuracies -- long time ago -- think it's pretty close to accurate though))

Injuries are a huge part of football however when this season is over, every training method needs to be evaluated.

Completely agree with the caveat that reevaluation is a normal part of BB's (and other teams) process. It is starkly unlikely the injuries this year are due to anything more than normal NFL business and bad luck.

No suicide watch ...just noting the extraordinary amount of KEY players we have lost this year....to your point I know you are mentioning the loss of 1-2 key starters in a season (see Gronk in 2011 SB..,.believe that was year he was out). But this year the sheer MULTITUDE of players at key positions including many of our offensive weapons....is alarming. Next man up for sure....but tough to truly REPLACE a lot of these Key players.....Hope they can get it done Sunday .....NEED the home field t/o....

This is how i have been looking at it. The patriots were fortunate the injuries feel into a time frame when, they could get almost all of them, back in pretty good shape, and on time for the playoffs. Off this happens I'll take them against anyone anywhere.

They have done a masterful job of managing the team and games to reach the record they have and the shot at HFA. I think they'll be reach to go and will get to San Jose and win another Lombardi. At which point the football media will have no choice but to finally acknowledge that Tom Brady is actually better than Daunte Culpeper.

2003 and 2004 there were a ridiculous amount of injuries, I think more in 2003. 2005 our only running back was running sideways pogo sticking on one leg into the line. Lost Bruschi, Harrison and Law, injury related. [Law foot injury vs contract, Bruschi stroke victim, not effective].

2005, I thought there were double digit IRs just from the secondary, but i can't verify.

Garin Veris, who was hot then at DE [I think]. Made you sick, though. I thought it was the last preseason game.
