Thank goodness BB didn't actually touch Sarah Thomas

Nice false analogy.

Maybe men are better suited to be refs because . . . men play football? The reason that there aren't any women NFL football players isn't because of sexism; it's because of very real physical differences between the genders.

That's also the reason why nobody over the age of 45 plays in the NFL, yet we have a whole lot of old refs.

As far as I'm concerned, the best people for the job should get the job. If they're all men, then so be it. If a woman is the best candidate, then of course she should be hired. Officiating in the NFL is ****ing garbage right now, not like we can afford to be choosy at the expense of quality.

Forgive me if I don't click on that Raw Sewage.

Piss on you, Wyatt.

There are a lot of coaches in the league that has never played the game at any high level. Very few coaches actually played in the NFL, and yet they seem to be able to coach just fine. She doesn't have to tackle anyone, so I think she will do just fine on the physical part.

There are real physical differences that affect things like strength, and speed. But I don't see how they affect a job like being a ref. Not when we have a bunch of old guys doing just fine on the physical part. I'm not talking about women playing in the NFL, i'm talking about being a ref.

There's a logical reason to have separate leagues for women in men in sports where the phyiscal differences makes them perform on different levels. But it's not logical to do that separation in other jobs where that large separation doesn't exist. Like being a ref. Or coaching, or whatever. She seems to do as well as any other NFL ref.

I agree, frankly all you need to have to be a good ref is a good set of eyes and thorough knowledge of the rules. I can't think of any reason why a woman can't do that. It now makes me wonder about this crew. Is it a coincidence that this is the only crew with a female that is getting bashed? Now articles like this start coming out? I guess the first at anything always has to pave the way for the rest.

He's a better man than I am. I would have squeezed her tits together and made an obscene gesture by flicking my tongue out of my mouth as fast as possible whilst making intense eye contact with her.

I start a new gig in New Smyrna Beach. I know it's like 1.5 hours from Jacksonville but was going to ask if you know the area. After seeing this post, I'll just ask which are the best strip joints.

And there's so much bullsh*t in the NFL as it is, why pile on more?

The female ref hiring was never about "most qualified for the job," it was about pandering to the SJW's and feminizing the sport even further (as if the stupid "pink ribbon" thing wasn't bad enough).

And you know that how? Is it really that much of a stretch to consider that there might be a woman out there who can be a better ref than the clowns like Jerome Boger that are currently running out there in stripes every Sunday?

If women are being hired based on even more lax/arbitrary/dumb standards than men, then I agree that that's stupid. But you seem to just be assuming that with no actual evidence that it's what's really happening. If the problem is that the league isn't doing everything that it reasonably can to ensure that the best refs are being put on the field, then there's a whole lot of bones to pick that are far more important than this one issue you've chosen to make a big deal out of.

If being in peak physical condition was a prerequisite of being an NFL ref, I would be a lot more sympathetic to this whole argument. But the average age of an NFL ref is 51, according to this article: A tougher NFL job to get than becoming a player. If we're going to be okay with a bunch of guys way past their physical primes doing the job, I don't see why a woman can't.

Kline was getting held all game, I don't think BB's complaining did much

Just gotta say, this is America in 2015. It's simultaneously:

"We have a female official!!! Hooray, equality!!!!"

and

"Look at what Belichick did!! It's weird because she's a woman!!!"

There are two possibilities behind your salient point: (A) This is about equality (let the best person win the job) but it is a windy road to achieve that philosophy, or (B) it is much more about social engineering to sate a very specific slice of american ideology, one that will actually never be sated, an attempt that will always fall short, an ideology that will always find something wrong/nefarious with the attempt to sate.

Boston Renegades. I'm betting many of them would kick your ass. And mine...

Let's not feed into it, now. I'm not aware of any screw ups or issues by Sarah/involving Sarah. That should really be all that matters. I don't really care how qualified you are for a job if you're doing the job well.

Women need to stay off of the field and out of the locker room. I know it's not a popular view, but what is wrong with a male-exclusive sport?

When I saw this, I knew a nontroversy would ensue. Not only is he clearly not touching her, but he is also trying to demonstrate something he saw on the field which was going on. It isn't like he was trying to get her attention or get up in her face.

And I have absolutely zero doubt whatsoever he would have done the same thing to a male ref.

My understanding is that she has a 15, 11 and 2 year old.

Maybe BB was coaching her on where the hand-positioning should be for those dreaded middle-school dances?
Yeah, high school dances were the first thing I thought of too. I remember saying "uh oh Coach.... make sure you leave room for the holy ghost..."

The fact that this "story" has been trumpeted with the key word "female" in front of ref presents yet another PC overkill issue to add to the millions of other trumped up special interest idiocies foisted on us since the 70's.

The story SHOULD have been "did BB touch the REF"...NOT the "female ref". For obvious reasons, this "story" was set in motion to add to the already ridiculous outside media vendetta against the Patriots, Bill Belechick and US,the solid, law abiding, reasonable and equitable citizens of New England. Now the goddamned mid-west moron majority will pound the airwaves and the media outlets with "Patriots are sexual assault cheaters too!!!". meanwhile, the Texan genius party in Dallas and Houston will continue to party with strippers and league officials yukking up their ten gallon hats at "them thar cheaters and women touchers!". Skulls need cracking, starting with that POS sitting in his posh snake den on Park Ave.

OK, if you want to believe some former hooker for big pharm is the Jackie Robinson of feminism, that's your business. I'll keep hoping and praying against all odds that some day the men of this country will get their collective balls back.

There's that good old double standard at work.

Maybe we should treat this issue like Hollyweird does. Have a 5'3" 100 lb female kick the crap out of two 6"2" 220 lb males.

She's a token female brought in to sell more merchandise to and increase viewership among women, in spite of the NFL's pathetic record on women's issues. It's the same way the Kennedy crime family has operated for generations.

Why should there be anything exclusively for men in this day and age? If she can do the job, and it seems she can, what's the problem?

She was on the sideline, in what seemed to be a spot to call false starts....one guy threw up gifs of about 10 blatant ones on here. 1 close, but 3 more close ones uncalled. If she was responcible for that call she is not qualifies in any way shape or form. Whoever was, needs to be removed immediately from any officiating duties, male or female.
