Rob Gronkowski injury

It's not a "bruise" it's a "bone bruise" which is different from having discolored skin. He also has a sprained knee, the extent of which we don't know.

Thank you. I'm aware.

It hurts. The average player would miss this upcoming week.

We're not going to see Gronkowski for a long time. January would be my guess.

Yeah, why don't we just make up stuff and pretend we know something. That's always fun.

Why would he waste his time? It was nonsense from beginning to end.
LOL. Yeah its nonsense. It's news everywhere, and the media is asking Belichick about it. There is no question whatsoever that Gronk and Belichick not on same page. No nonsense here buddy.

I bet you also thought the players hated Bill in 2003 after he traded Lawyer Milloy, because "it was news everywhere."

More nonsense. You're making this "story" up in your head.

If doctors and coach says he is ready to play and he goes play then all is good. Hightower was at practice today, we are fortunate to have him back. I have faith in Gronk, if the playoffs started this weekend And all he had to overcome was pain then I'm sure he would be playing. He's a good guy on and off the field.

The big deal is:
(a) the team issued a joint statement with the player on the player's injury -- when has that ever happened before? Totally at odds with the team's standard operating procedure. So that's a big deal.
(b) the player put out a video where he stressed several times that he's not playing until he's 100%. No matter how you spin that, it's putting himself ahead of the team. Especially since no-one's 100% at this point and plenty of the team's stars have played at less than 100% many times. You can believe that's justified or you can believe otherwise, but it's still putting himself ahead of the team. And he did so publicly, which is also rare and hence a big deal.
(c) the team only has a 0.5 game lead for HFA. And (say) 80% of the player is still a huge help to the team.

That said, I'm on board with staying out until playing won't mean a meaningfully higher risk of reinjuring it than the "normal" playing football injury risk, but after that I do have a problem, especially with the team in a dogfight for HFA and a bye.

You're right that it's not standard procedure, but Gronk didn't see even a single preseason rep. He's not a standard player. It was a very scary moment in one of the most hyped prime time games of the year.

As far as what was said: who cares? Gronk said he'll be out there as soon as "he feels better and the team and doctors clear him." The Patriots said that the injury is week to week and that he will be evaluated throughout the process, while reminding us that predicting any timeline is speculative.

Why is that so controversial?

I wouldn't be shocked to see him practice (limited) this week, questionable for the Eagles, and active for Houston.

Well, that's not happening since he was immediately ruled out for the Philly game on Monday. I'd also find it difficult to believe that he could suddenly practice for the Houston game on Wednesday, only 72 hours later, but we'll see. I highly doubt he plays in the Texans game.

Just because it wasn't a serious injury doesn't mean that he's not injured, and that's what some seem to be suggesting. With Tennessee at home as the next game after next Sunday's, why not just let him heal up and properly rest? His importance to any kind of postseason run is obvious. Let's revisit the situation in a couple of weeks and see what's going on then.

sage steele?

You must *love* Boston sports radio. Those dimwits live for inventing narrative.

You are just in denial. You must love Shaughnessy only one of his guys could use "dimwits" in a sentence. It implies weakness that would not use stronger curse word...

It is clear that Gronk is on his own plantation.
