I'm sorry, I don't see it. Could you explain it to me?

If you can't figure out the time aspect, here, even with an easy example fully laid out before you, I don't know how anyone could explain things to you.

Ok. Because the example doesn't seem relevant to me. But I could've been missing something.

The Giants didn't go up by 2 scores with that TD

Time..... Time.... Time...

I'm not sure what's so difficult to grasp here. You kill the time to make the comeback more difficult. This is Football 101. That's why even people *****ing about the "don't score" notion seem to understand why you don't pass on 3rd down there, unless your QB understands that he's better off eating the ball then throwing the ball away.

It's a different scenario because a TD in last night's game didn't leave the Giants as vulnerable as the Bradshaw TD did. Everyone understands the concept of running clock with a lead.

The scenario is slightly different. The concepts are the same. The same concepts are why kicking the FG on 4th instead of going for it should not be considered a no brainer. Time and context matter.

I've seen the Pats in this same scenario a few times, usually Brady does a modified sneak where he just stays behind the center and tries not to gain or lose any yardage for a play or two and then they run the ball in for a TD on 3rd down.

This is exactly what the Giants should have done. Have Eli sneak twice get closer to the goal line. Then run the ball on third down. If you score great, if not run as much time off the clock as possible and then kick the field goal (I'm Assuming here that everyone agrees it is better to be up by 6 kicking off, than to try to score on 4th down and risk only being up by 3). As it stands, I think the Cowboys scored the game winner with 7 seconds left and the Giants gifted them 40 seconds by thowing on third down.

That's it, right there.

Could you cite one of the examples when the patriots did this?
