I've now gone through the ruling quickly once (would a real lawyer PLEASE tell us what it really means, other than that we kicked ass? what does it mean for the NFL's chances on appeal) and am impressed that he was able to pull something this thorough together so quickly. somebody was burning midnight oil all week.

This. I've also read through the ruling quickly, and it seems to completely eviscerate how the NFL has handled this, but I'm not a lawyer, I want to get an interpretation from some of the lawyers on Patsfans.con (I know there are some good ones).

Reading through the judgement, it seems to completely slap down the entire NFL procedure, including the loss of draft picks (although that was not part of the judgement). I know that Kraft agreed to the draft pick loss, but now that this judgement has slapped down the NFL so completely does anybody think there is any chance Kraft (or more importantly his son) decides to sue for the draft picks back? I know many think that is unlikely, but perhaps Kraft is beginning to realize just how much he has alienated his fans and just how transparently unfair this entire "Deflategate" fiasco has been.

One disturbing note from Berman according to Judy Batista, Berman noted that Roger Goodell was deemed to be an impartial arbiter. First that kind of blows my mind, and I worry about what impact that tidbit might have in appeal.

Then off course since I haven't read the decision myself (and I doubt Judy did either), I love if someone more proactive will confirm or deny this surprising remark.

BTW- Judy did say this was the only positive for the NFL. The rest was totally in favor of the NFLPA

It seems to only be because commenting on that would make the ruling easier to appeal. Yeah, people will hang their hat on this point to attack the Pats, but reading the rest of the ruling makes it apparent that Berman thinks the Wells report was ridiculous. Despite saying he has to accept the league's facts at the beginning he continues to use 'alleged deflation', quotes around 'independent', etc. throughout.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there is one bad thing in the ruling - Berman did not agree that Goodell was evidently partial.

Otherwise, Brady won on pretty much every count.

True but I think that makes the ruling bullet-proof - there was no opinion just facts in the ruling. And, if you read Berman's words and choices of what he included, you could come to no other conclusion that RG was biased.

I'm reading the decision, just great stuff all the way through. I love that Berman is making it crystal clear that even if Brady had been caught red-handed deflating a ball, the only legal response by the NFL would have been a fine of $5,512! Brady should send him a damn check!

Berman didn't say Goodell was fully impartial, he simply didn't find Goodell was "evidently partial".

If I was Goody I would say that I ruled based on the information at my disposal.
