RUMOR: Revis "to hit the market?"

If you were to use QB Win-Loss records for Revis, he would be 7-2 in the postseason with wins against Carson Palmer, Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Joe Flacco, Andrew Luck, and Russell Wilson. Most of those wins were with Mark Sanchez at QB, which flipped would be like a QB winning those games with the league's 32nd ranked defense.

He might be 7-2 overall but he's undefeated with Brady.

How sweet would it be for Brady to end his career with another 10-0 playoff run? Let us help make it happen Revis!

You have 3-5 years of working life left.

If we acknowledge that he is a clever business man then I think it is only fair to assume that he will maximize his value/brand even after he ends his career. Whether it will be a very nice contract on TV or something else I doubt that he will stop earning money when he hangs it up.

What attachment does he even have to the Jets? Rex is gone, all his teammates are gone, and the team sucks now. It's not exactly the prodigal son returning.

His attachment is not to the Jets but to the city of NY. If you believe what can be heard on podcasts and read in articles he really likes the city and even spent some time there last year (BYE, playoff BYE).

My opinion is that he might be a bit soft and not the same type of competitor as a Brady or Dion or hell even a Sherman who took a deal that isn't as guaranteed as it looks to stay with a winning team. He got owned by Steve Smith against the Ravens and didn't even bother competing after the ref picked him for a half second in the Super Bowl.

Striving for true greatness and back to back rings might not be what drives him, he might just have wanted a single ring to validate his career and go back to NY where he can be the star and get to vacation in January. Although, I think this past year may have changed him.

Are you trolling ? Or did you forget a '/s' somewhere ?

I just have a hard time thinking that Revis would rather spend the rest of his career toiling away on a 5-win team for 1-2million extra a year. vs. competing for super bowls.

LT on NFLN speculates that Revis wants a Lebron-type career and finish his career with the team that drafted him.

I speculate that LT has no idea what he is talking about.

Yea LT has no idea what he is talking about. The NBA and NFL are such different entities.

The cavs already had a solid team together with irving and having just got the #1 pick they could move for love. In the nba singular players have such an affect on the game that adding lebron to love and irving allows them to compete for a championship

The jets are such a mess of a team that adding revis Is NOT going to up their win total or put them closer to a superbowl...let alone the playoffs. Even with revis they would be the 4th team in the afc east behind the pats bills and dolphins.

Like I said to get to the top of the mountain after 8 long years and then to leave to a horrible team for an extra couple million? Doesnt make sense to me. It comes down to legacy vs. Money. Does revis want to be known next to sanders etc. Or just known as a very gopd cb who just chased $$

Lebron grew up in Ohio, and was truly hurt when they trashed him when he left.

Revis grew up in western PA, and the Jets are the ones that traded him.

Big difference! Resigning Revis is a must! It has to happen

Yep. Only scenario I see Revis going to the NYJ is if the Pats are much lower in guaranteed dollars or things turn sour during negotiations.

If the money is close and both sides are civil, professional, follow "ethical" negotiating protocol and trust each other, he should be back.

After thinking about this overnight, if he's stupid enough to choose the Jets after having a taste of what it's like to be in a class NFL organization, then good riddance.
The Patriots have won without him and will win without him again.

I wonder how classy he'd think the Pats fan base is if he glanced through these threads about him, with rank speculation leading to psychoanalysis?

"Mevis" "he's just about the $$$" "if he's stupid enough."

Yeah, that'd make me feel like I was home. How about just letting the guy sort it out? It's his life, his career, his retirement in a few years...the decision will impact him a million times more than it will impact anyone here.

If he goes elsewhere, so be it. Next man up. I wish him nothing but the best, except when he plays us - he helped bring us some great memories this year.

I'm fairly certain he's seen a lot worse, probably from New York fans as well. I'll go ahead and say it: If he's deciding where to play based on reading anonymous fan forums to gauge how grateful the fans are, he's an idiot.

Depends on how it goes down. If the Jets significantly beat the NE offer, that's one thing. If he picks NYJ over NE because NE was $2-$4mil less on a $40+ mil contract, that's something else.

Mike Golic today insisting that Revis is gone because the Pats wont give him the guaranteed money he wants, he doesn't know anything but he wants to act like he does

I've grown tired of Golic.

I'm probably the only one who doesn't give a crap about tampering on this board. If it means players get paid more (or at least have more leeway to set the terms of their next contract, if they value something more than money), more power to them.

It's the principal.. the Patriots were crucified for some PSI missing out of some footballs in a cold rainy day in January.. never in 100 years has anyone ever suggested such ridiculous non sense about the psi of a football affecting a game.. anyone in the past who would have suggested such a thing would have been ridiculed and embarassed.. but the Patriots were dragged through the mud for nearly a month over it..

meanwhile the Jets owner can get up on a podium at a public press conference and blatantly break the rules at the Patriots expense and no one bats an eye or cares.. and since then have basically gone out of their way to tamper and make it obvious for the last several weeks like a giant middle finger to the Pats because they know they can get away with it.

as if Goodell could look anymore disgraceful than he already has, if Revis is wearing a Jets uniform in 2015 and playing against the Patriots with no punishment whatsoever to the Jets it would be an absolute travesty and basically prove that the NFL front office is run like the NY mafia

The Patriots will forever have this reputation for not wanting to pay because they refuse to pay top tier money for 2nd tier players, even if it leaves them with a hole to fill for a season. People ignore how many of their own guys they've signed to competitive or even top of the market contracts (at the time), like Mankins, Brady, Wilfork, and now McCourty. It's just easier to have the "Pats are cheap" take.

He immediately threw his hands up and started whining to the ref, he could keep running its the Super Bowl team down 3. But yeah I actually didn't even watch the super bowl and am clueless
Just went back to re watch this play to see if I missed something. He clearly was picked by the ref and threw his hands up a moment before Baldwin catches the ball. He was lobbying for some sort of interference call immediately instead of diving at a player who had the ball roughly 7 to 8 yards away from him.

The fact that ESPN pays Mike Golic for his rather ridiculous opinions is absurd.
