Great find, B6, thank you!

I never knew they were close friends. And I didn't know Edelman lives with Slater.

I could just read articles like these all day.

And LOL at Gronk, "And then I come in and sweep 'em."

eta: Also, Edelmendola could not be peaking at a better time.

I knew they were friends but I had thought it was something that formed since Amendola came here, I did not realize it dated back to 2010. I was not aware that he was Slater’s roomie too. Edelman is the cool kid in school I guess – Brady, Gronk, Amendola, Slater..

I am doing a bit of a 180 on Amendola, I still do not love him as a player although he has played well recently, but the dude is legit as a person, he is competitive and works hard.

I am not sure if anyone posted this I was traveling for work and did not read the board a lot this week but this was hilarious – http://www.funnyordie.com/articles/...lman-texts-tom-brady-about-his-touchdown-pass

“Oh yeah. They’re unbelievable,” Gronkowski said. “They go full battle in the Ping-Pong tournament and then I come in and sweep ’em.” (That statement is a matter of some dispute.)

From your link: "Amendola, 25 at the time, was coming off a breakout season in which he led the NFL with 2,364 all-purpose yards."

So I disagree with your first statement - I really believe it has been a combination of bad luck (groin injury, then surgery) and the emergence of a redundant talent in JE, and that Amendola really can become a major cog in this offense.

I agree with you that he really hasn't been worth the $$$$, however.

So here's hoping that he proves me right and you wrong on this - bet you're hoping for it, too.

And yeah, he's a good dude, by all reports. I hope he renegotiates and sticks around.

Amendola earned his entire contract with his play last week. He stepped up huge during crunch time.

Good to see Amendola stepping up big in the most important of times. Our best small fry combo since Brown and Branch. As long as they keep making plays this WR core will be formidable with LaFell and Gronkowski blocking and making the big plays they have.

Edelman really does seem like the guy that everyone on the team wants to be friends with.

I can imagine Gronk rubs a guy the wrong way sometimes, Brady might be too competitive, Slater too quiet, but for whatever reason Edelman is apparently best friends with every guy on the team.

I've been in the anti-Amendola camp for a little bit now too (hell, even as early as the 1st q of the BAL game before he cut off his sleeves!), but that will all be erased if he continues helping us win playoff games. I don't care what we're paying him.

This.

I've kind of viewed him as expensive insurance this year but last week he earned his salary with the game he played. I get the feel that he's starting to come on and going to make some big plays tomorrow. He's certainly got to be fresh!!
I'm predicting a huge KO return manana.

GO PATS!!!!

Edelman and slater must earn $5mm a year between them. I'm surprised they would need to split a rental.

But then if they work long hours and move somewhere sunny to train come February, setting up households might not be a priority.

Convenience and they're probably very close friends. The house they're splitting probably isn't a double-wide trailer either. I'd imagine it's pretty huge.

Doubt its much of a "need". I don't believe either has family of their own yet.

I'd say they have real homes wherever they grew up, and have a rental up here because currently they play for the Patriots.

And as the saying goes, nothing lasts forever in the NFL.

But that was a good article- thanks for the link, OP.

Wonder if Edelman was instrumental in bringing Amendola here, as far as giving BB his opinions or otherwise advocating for Amendola.

Awesome article. I think Amendola probably renegotiates his contract down a bit; I don't think he can really justify his pay, but I also don't think there's any way he leaves. I don't think he wants to. He has a pretty nice role right now as KR and the third WR, and he can do a lot of the stuff Edelman does if/when Edelman gets dinged (which is somewhat often since Edelman plays balls to the wall 24/7). I want to keep Danny around for sure.

I agree, like I said, been down on him almost all year but much of that is because his contract is unjustafiably high for his current role, we all understand that his lack of production stems from being redundant and both Edelman and LaFell are just better, it has nothing to do with Danny being an awful player.

I DO want him to stay on this team, but the contract needs fixing.

Yeah, I'm hoping they can lower his contract and Mayo's and keep both around a while longer. That would be nice.
