I never said he is on his way out NOW.

He will be in the future.

Nothing is permanent.

This restructure of the agreement is like a pre-nuptial agreement (if one could take place DURING a marriage). "In the unlikely event........"

Are you saying he won't play forever?

If so, you suck............

Now I am going to pull the comforter over my head and pretend this thread never happened..

See what you have done?

No problem shmessy, these things happen.

I'm out. Have a good night.

Sorry about calling you deus.

It's all good, Ivan!

Beyonce is coming over in a few minutes for a booty call so I really need to shower.

Here's why I think both of them are wrong.

Tom Brady is widely considered to be the 2nd best quarterback in the league behind Rodgers.

Plenty of NFL fans who aren't necessarily Patriot first fans, who value intangibles and the eye test over stats and the eye test, still believe that he is #1 (Skip Bayless and others fall into this category.)

Regardless of which of these camps is correct, when you consider how much money per year the Patriots are going to be paying him now, cutting him or trading him seems completely asinine and would make no sense. Tom Brady has already received the bulk of his career money from the Patriots. He's basically on a discount price for the rest of his days here. NFL teams do not get the #1 or #2 QB in the league for -what?- 8 million a year?

Isn't Andy Dalton getting paid more money than that?

Flacco is getting 20 million a year. Rodgers is getting 20 million a year. Peyton is getting 20 million a year.

To cut a top 2 QB in the NFL when you're paying him less than half of what hs market value is makes absolutely zero sense.

I know why people are saying it. They have completely INVENTED a fantasy in their head where JAG is an elite QB on a 1st year rookie contract. That dream world is the only thing that could possibly lead to anyone thinking Brady (at his well-below-market cost) is wasted cap in the eyes of our FO.

Sheer dream world.

A reporter asked Belichick if he was going to be evaluating the QB position after the Chiefs game, and Belichick laughed in his face because of how stupid it was.

What else do you need to know?

The conjecture for the sake of filling empty air waves is bogus and wrong and lazy.

Once again, you are transposing the year 2014 onto the years 2016 or 2017.

And once again, I am saying there is a MINORITY PERCENTAGE chance of it being an issue. Nobody wants to believe in the power of avocado ice cream more than me.

But, just like a pre-nuptual agreement, Brady is protecting HIMSELF.

Yeah, but once we get into 2017 we're approaching potential retirement years, so my issue with this whole discussion, whenever it rears its ugly head, is why are we replacing the word "retirement" with "released" or "traded." To me that's disrespectful. Retirement and released aren't the same thing.

I once saw Jerry Seinfeld get annoyed when someone asked him when his show was cancelled. It wasn't cancelled. He ended it with 40 million viewers.

Huge difference.

I see it as a catch 22 situation. IMO Brady's standard is as high or higher than that which the Patriots would have for him, so while people are suggesting he will go elsewhere because the Patriots won't want him I think if he is ever bad enough so NE wouldn't want him he would also be so bad that he wouldn't be playing to his standards and would retire, much the same way Bruschi did. He's only going to keep playing if he is among the top QBs football, he's not going to be the drecks, and I can't see the Patriots parting with him n while he is still a top QB.

he also drafted a QB in the 2nd round.......and referenced bradys age and contract

im not saying hes done

im not saying hes not still one of the best QBs in the game

but at his age......he is declining......and BB doesnt know when that decline is gonna pick up and become more precipitous.......maybe next year.......maybe 2017........maybe 2019

just my opinion

You think this is a clue that we're parting ways with Brady. People who aren't trolling know it was because we were parting ways with Mallett.

thats pretty early to draft a QB when you have other needs and you drafted an injury prone guy in the 1st

people that are objective know that BB has aspirations that JAG can be the next starter

if he was drafting just a backup......he would have waited......hoyer is a perfect backup, and he was undrafted

You've grown on me, James.

I like ya'

By declining you !mean he's only a top 3 candidate for MVP, and not the top candidate.

Damn

That's some decline

i appreciate that

makes me feel like at least someone likes me around here

give me a hug

We've already covered this pretty thoroughly. No sense in spinning our wheels.

I agree with you, James. In 2019, Tom Brady might not be our starter.

He drafted two QBs in the third as well, none were ever going to become Brady's successor. Jimmy Garrapolo is going to have to become an n insanely good QB for Belichick to ever even consider replacing the GOAT with him. I will believe it when I see it.

mallett was obviously a value pick.....he had an exta 3rd......thought he might end up getting more in return

i cant explain KOC

He looks more poised in the pocket than any of our previous back ups IMO, which is impressive just coming into the league. That said, if he was our quarterback this year, we lose the AFC East to the Dolphins and lose the wildcard spot the Buffalo or someone else.

Tom Brady makes winning football games look WAY easier than it actually is, and it's left some people thinking anyone who shows anything can step right in.

Tannehill is a better quarterback than Garrapolo right now by miles. He'll continue to be a better quarterback than Garrapolo by miles next season.

There's a reason a team with a quarterback as good as Tannehill is sick to death of having Tom Brady in their division.

It's 12:12 a.m, January 9th 2015, and for lots of people, it's the off season.

The boring, long, off season.

I can

Belichick obviously wanted him to take over for the aging Brady

He's been trying to get rid of him for years, ever since his decline began, in fact. He's no longer the best player in football, just second best, time to cut him loose, team friendly deal or not.

Who knows, wth this defense they might be able to get a wild card spot with Garrapolo?
