I have a question for you guys...if the pats play on CBS...can fox play a game at the same time? and if so how often does it happen?

Both networks get doubleheaders Week 17. But some markets, like Boston will not air a game if the Pats are playing a game. For example this past week Boston FOX opted to show Giants/Rams at 4pm, just like when the Pats were on FOX playing the Lions at 1pm and CBS had the national doubleheader Boston CBS don't air a 1PM game.

But not sure if that applies to Week 17

No. When the home team is on, no other games can be on. At least as far as I know. They want to protect the ratings for the home team.
