The Seahawks have released DE Chris Clemons,

Another potential older, rotational #3 DE.

High amount of love of the game right there.

Well, then life after football may well be calling. Without knowing firsthand the physical toll that year after year of NFL football takes on a body, I really can't judge anyone for not wanting to subject themselves to it unless the money is right.

Lots of DEs out there...but Jared Allen seems to want to retire if he can't get paid

I wouldn't be upset if the Pats got two Chris Clemmons this offseason. As I said before, maybe they will do a buy one Chris Clemmons, get the second one free type of deal.

He wants fair market value. The question is what does he consider fair market value?

if the Bengals match the Andrew Hawkins offer sheet, it's going to be super duper bad news for us.

Considering the physical toll an NFL player takes, I can understand that thinking. Over the course of his career he has made $76 million (plus whatever endorsements he may made), so he doesn't need the money. Why risk your body for a vet minimum contract in that scenario, so somebody else can make a bunch of money off of you?

Tag line on NFLN said they were expected to. Edelman is probably on the Browns speed-dial right now.

Pats hosting OG Shelley Smith.

Doug Kyed @DougKyedNESN

The New England Patriots have shown interest in free agent WR Jason Avant, according to a source. No visit scheduled yet.

#4 at best

I'm not sure if this was mentioned in the first 83 pages but the 49ers traded for Jonathan Martin for a conditional 7th round pick if he's on the opening day roster. Brilliant trade by the 49ers. You reunite him with Harbaugh with absolutely zero risk and if JH can get the kid to play at his talent level a 7th is a steal for him. I will give the Fins credit for two things. One the timing. Nobody is talking about the trade which is good for them. Second the 49ers aren't on the Fins schedule so by the time they would play assuming he's on the team it will be a footnote story.

13 sacks last year...so a good amount

His age is a factor in his market price. That offsets his market production. Does he consider that in his market value.

Also, is he threatening to retire if he doesn't get his price to get someone to cave in to his demands. Not sure he will do what Seymour did and walk away. Seymour had his rings when he walked away. Allen doesn't have one.

I wonder if they'll have Scott Chandler over for a visit-aroo?:rocker:

I don't understand this mentality at all. But it certainly doesn't seem promising for his prospects as a Patriot.

Ken Harris, Jared Allen's agent, issues a statement saying his client has agreed to no visits and is not speaking about any teams in contact

Jason La Canfora ?@JasonLaCanfora 16m
Harris said there is a lot of missinformation out there about Jared Allen, and "none of the rumors are coming from our camp."

Sounds like people are speaking for Allen without them knowing. I don't buy him retiring.

decker+geno smith will be hilarious to see :rocker:

I do not like that at all, we could lose our top two UFAs to the last two AFC Champions.

Frank Pimentel ?@FrankTank96 1h
Julian Edelman visiting with the #Ravens. Hearing he wants more than Amendola per year. #NFLFreeAgency

Talib was simply not worth anywhere near what was paid for him. I didn't want to spend yet another year wondering about how many games our shutdown corner would play.

Replacing Talib's 2013 production does not require a top free agent, although I am fine in signing one AS A MAJOR UPGRADE from Talib's contributions.

I would much rather spend the $10M on 2-3 DE and LB additions and help the pass rush. Secondaries have a way of improving significantly with a better pass rush.

I would spend the next $10M on a CB and a SS. So, this is 5 good men instead of 2. Either strategy can work.

You can't have it both ways. You're either fine with paying out the big bucks for a FA, or you're not. If you are, you've got no call to complain about people being pissed that Talib got away. If you aren't, you're probably going to be in for a long period of disappointment once Brady retires, one way or the other.

I think you're quoting another Incarcerated Bob wannabe.
