If I was Mcdaniels I would plan on running the football all day.

We need to hope for all of Solder, Cannon, and Svitek to return to health asap, or at least some combination of 2/3.

Running the ball should be easier with Ridley returning to a hopeful starter's role, and MIA seems to be tougher vs the pass than they do the run this season. That said, I can also envision a rise from their defense at home this weekend. They should be pretty pumped up and are still heavily involved in the wild card scenario at 7-6.

These next 2 weeks at Miami and at Baltimore are going to be challenges in my opinion, and I have a hard time seeing us come away successful in both games, although obviously I hope I am very wrong. The thought of 2 teams on the road in consecutive weeks who are battling for the last WC spot, as we go back to the drawing board w/o Gronk concerns me.

Excuse me. I shouldn't have put "left" in there. Solder's played 3 NFL seasons at tackle. You trying to use the "right tackle/left tackle" distinction now is a bit silly, though. This is Solder's third year as a starting tackle, and the clear majority of his time has been at left tackle.

He made a comment about Solders experience at LT. You told him he was wrong, which he wasn't, so now he is silly to make the comment he made because you want to talk about something different?

I didn't just add it. My original comment was that Solder is only in his second season of playing LEFT TACKLE.

I don't think many players master the left tackle position in two seasons.

In any case, I hope Solder is cleared to play soon. Woeful though he may be in the eyes of PatsFan commentators, I suspect he's a lot better than the next guy up at left tackle for the Pats.

And my response included left tackle because I was just repeating your words, which was a mistake on my part, which is why I noted I shouldn't have done that after your correction.

Top level OTs are often top level OTs from day one. The one the Patriots just played against, Thomas, has been an A.P. All Pro, first or second team, for 5 of his 6 seasons.

Solder's not playing at the level he should be. Maybe it's because he's injured, maybe it's not. Either way, he's basically gotten a pass for it.

Nate Solder is in his second year of playing left tackle. I doubt my left tackles play error-free football in their second year. Sometimes I think we tend to hold the Patriots to an impossibly high standard. The realistic goal is to make fewer mistakes than the other team, not play perfect error-free football.

Nobody is asking him to play error free football. What most of us with a good eye for OL play want is for him to play somewhere near the level of his predecessor, or near the level of a competent LT. Thus far, he has absolutely not been that. He's one of the main reasons (along with interior pass protection) that the OL play has been so poor this season.

Still no Dobson. I think we can put an "out" next to his name for this game.

Solder was back at practice, though.

It Is What It Is » Nate Solder back at practice, while Aaron Dobson still absent

Tackle Nate Solder was back on the field for practice Thursday morning, while wide receiver Aaron Dobson was the only one absent as the Patriots continue preparation for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins in Miami.

Solder, who was listed on the Patriots practice report Wednesday with a concussion, is part of a relatively thin group of players New England have at the tackle position — with starting right tackle Sebastian Vollmer on IR, the team has pressed Marcus Cannon into a starting role, but Cannon has been hobbled as of late because of an ankle issue. In addition, veteran tackle Will Svitek has seen lots of time at tackle with the recent run of injury.

Nate Solder returns to practice, Aaron Dobson remains out | Boston Herald

Left tackle Nate Solder returned to practice today after missing the first regular-season workout of his career. Solder has been diagnosed with a concussion for the third time in three years. He'll have to pass one more test to be cleared for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Wide receiver Aaron Dobson was the only player missing from today's practice. There is no specific timetable for his return with the sprained left foot, but he was still wearing a walking boot as recently as Sunday.

The Patriots practiced in shells inside the Dana-Farber Field House for the second straight day since there isn't much use in practicing outside in 20-something degree weather with snow on the ground when Sunday's game-time temp is forecasted to be 85 degrees.

It's a good sign for Solder, although if he is not able to play this Sunday, the team may be forced to move veteran Will Svitek into his place on the left side of the line. Svitek has been starting in place of Marcus Cannon at right tackle of late, though Cannon has practiced both days this week (ankle).

If Cannon is unable to play again this Sunday, the team may promote one of their practice squad offensive linemen to the active roster for insurance purposes.

Linebacker Brandon Spikes, who has been dealing with a knee injury, rode the stationary bike during individual position group drills.

I love solder!

then buy yourself a soldering iron...

I get them for free.

Aaron Dobson returned to practice for the first time in three weeks today. The Patriots also had a full house at today's practice.

Not sure it means anything for his availability, but it's good news.

So if you don't count the 15 guys on IR, the Pats are at their healthiest all year.

I would think it's unlikely he'll suit up this week, but it is encouraging for his availability against Baltimore.

On a related note, have we heard anything about Thompkins? I know he's been at practice all week, but have there been any reports of he's looked?

I was thinking he'd be back at practice today. It sets him up to return next week @BAL.

I'd agree, he'll be ready next week, surprised if he plays Sunday.

We need this kid healthy for the postseason. Edelman, Dobson, Vereen, Amendola, Thompkins. Even though we just lost the 2nd best player (and by a slim margin) on our team, we really might still have the weapons to put up a title bid.

I think they do have the weapons. This Patriots team can beat anyone in the league. It's just going to take a solid, complete game for them to do it in the playoffs, as always.

Friday morning info:

New England Patriots injury update: Aaron Dobson returns to practice | masslive.com

Aaron Dobson returned to practice Friday after missing the last two weeks with a foot sprain.

With Dobson back, every available player was in attendance Friday. It is unknown if the wide receiver will play this weekend against Miami.

Dobson was seen as recently as Sunday wearing a walking boot. He appeared to move well during practice.

Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson returned to practice Friday for the first time since injuring a foot in Week 12.

While it remains unclear if he will play in Week 15, it's a positive sign in his recovery.

Left tackle Nate Solder (concussion) practiced for the second consecutive day, though his official status for Sunday is not yet known.

The Patriots once again practiced indoors in an effort to acclimate to warmer temperatures, as it is expected to be in the 80s this Sunday in Miami.

The team practiced in shells and helmets for the third straight day.

Wide receiver Josh Boyce, quarterback Ryan Mallett, defensive tackle Marcus Forston and defensive back Kanorris Davis wore black uniforms as the practice players of the week for Week 14.

An official practice report with game statuses for the injured players will be released later this afternoon.

From earlier this week for Miami:

Season over for Miami Dolphins cornerback Dimitri Patterson - Miami Dolphins - MiamiHerald.com

Cornerback Brent Grimes, strong safety Chris Clemons and free safety Reshad Jones could have been chiseled onto stone tablets as Dolphins starters this season. That fourth position? Drawn into beach sand.

On Tuesday, the Dolphins put starting cornerback Dimitri Patterson on injured reserve because of a season-long groin problem along with backup cornerback R.J. Stanford, who broke a leg Sunday in Pittsburgh.

To fill their roster spots, the Dolphins signed safety Michael Thomas off San Francisco’s practice squad and free agent cornerback Justin Rogers, who started the first five games for Buffalo, then got benched after a 37-24 loss to Cleveland. The Bills waived him Nov.19 and Houston claimed him the next day. The Texans cut him after one game.

Looking at position, Rogers’ experience and the fact that Jones sat out Tuesday’s practice, it’s clear the Dolphins didn’t just sign any available NFL-ready bodies to fill out the roster. Especially not with Sunday bringing 60 minutes against high-powered New England.

And from Friday:

Dolphins practice report: Mike Pouncey is back, Reshad Jones (groin) practicing - Sun Sentinel

Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was back at practice Friday, two days after being in Massachusetts to give grand jury testimony in the case against former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Dolphins punter Brandon Fields, one of the team’s few legitimate Pro Bowl candidates, wasn’t at the portion of Friday’s practice media is allowed to watch. Fields is third in the NFL in punting average at 48.7 yards per punt.

Safety Reshad Jones, who has been sidelined this week with a groin injury, was participating in individual drills Friday.

Pouncey, who has played the last two games after missing the previous due to illness, missed practice Wednesday but presumably returned home Thursday. The Dolphins are off on Thursdays but they issue an injury report. The fact that Pouncey wasn’t on the injury report means, according to league rules, he would have been available to practice.

Pouncey's return means the Dolphins would likely field what's come to be their usual starting offensive line -- Pouncey at center, Nate Garner at left guard, Bryant McKinnie at left tackle, John Jerry at right guard and Tyson Clabo at right tackle.

Brady not practicing? Is this true?

I follow Skip Bayless on Twitter (don't care, say what you want about him lol I mainly follow him for his Patriots love)

...but he just said said:

"Scares me TBrady couldn't practice last 2 days w/ sore throwing shoulder. Now game off betting board. Still think Pats pull it out in Miami"

It kinda worried me but I thought if it were true, it would've been on here by now. Plus I thought I just read an article that the Patriots had a perfect practice attendance (at least in terms of who they have left)
