NFL out of control (acting like SS) Forces ESPN to Pull sports science video

Is that website run by a Patriots fan? Seems odd that 3-5 pictures were about the Patriots. As if they are the only ones who get ****ed in the ass by the refs.

Who are you a fan of anyways? I may have missed it in the other thread.

That order didn't reach other countries, espn is showing the sports science here right know on the show before the Thursday night football.

The Patriots, like the Seahawks, have arguably lost AFCCGs and Super Bowls because of bad calls. That puts them up higher on the list, IMO.

Re: NFL out of control (acting like they are the SS)

Outstanding. Makes up for a little of ESPNs former BS.

A little, yes - but, they still really suck and that hatchet job over taping signals as every other team had been doing was unforgivable. To this day, as a direct result of their sensationalism and thirst for ratings, regardless of truth or fact, the average fan has no clue what really happened and they never will.

F them.

The nfl is like the mafia. Or in a more contemporary sense, the government!

Didn't the NFL force ESPN to pull the NFL based TV show Playmakers some years ago? That was a shame. I liked where that was headed.

At least it spared us the Aaron Hernandez cameo appearance.

The NFL plucked the youtube showing O'Hara choking Seymour from behind...the frontal shot of Seymour with O'Hara's arm around his neck as O'Hara is BEHIND him...they did this just recently after a mini firestorm erupted that led to e-mails of the clip to certain sports departments in the metro NYC area.

The lone clip left shows O'Hara on Seymour's side with his hand under Seymour's chin...but from that angle, you can clearly see another Pats D lineman clearly being blocked in the back.

This is more proof of Goodell's megalomaniacal attempts to control fan opinion and media information. It is despicable and HAS TO BE illegal under federal law.

It should be illegal for the copyright holder of a video to demand that infringements of their copyright to be taken down? Really??

Sure, it's slimy for them to only demand takedowns of clips they don't like, but the power to control the dissemination of things you hold the copyright to is the entire point of copyright.

But doesn't ESPN have the rights to the game? Wasn't it shown on ESPN?

That depends on the language of the contract with ESPN. If the contract says the NFL has some copyright interest in the broadcast, then the NFL has some copyright interest in the broadcast.

And even if they didn't, the NFL can certainly tell ESPN "we'd appreciate it if you had those taken down -- and if not, we'll think twice about (whatever) going forward."

Surely people here don't have any problem with implied threats like that, given all the times they've said Kraft should make similar threats to the Herald/Globe/etc. when those outlets say ridiculous things about the Patriots.

I don't know why the NFL can't just admit that the officials blew the call, the patriots got screwed, apologize, and move on. It would be the classy move, rather than all the cover-ups and denials.

That said, it seem as if ever since the 'tuck' call, the NFL has been trying to get even with us.

To be fair, this is pretty standard NFL practice. They tried claiming that the Green Bay/Seattle call was the correct one, too. It's not something that's anti-Patriots. It's just that they're willing to piss away their credibility in order to protect the officiating. They think that a united front pretending they're right is a better overall approach than admitting errors.

Seems like a bad strategy to me, especially with all the video today and the internet where once posted it's always somewhere. Better to assert that their error rate is well under some tenths of a percent and admit that some close calls out of a thousand will be wrong and that refs like great QBs throwing picks will make a few mistakes. That's the game.

Better enforcement of consequences against bad refs would help too. No more special over rides for certain refs to make the SB.

Of course this will never happen.

In other words - they're taking the NBA route.

I think they want to avoid opening the can of worms regarding 'judgment' call type penalties. This Patriots call fits the bill. They have to know that they completely blew the call, because the replay makes it blatantly obvious, but they don't want to open those calls up to replay. Interestingly, the 'defense' of the call is one that could have been challenged, had the officials actually clarified the call. Saying that the ball was tipped (In this case INT) prior to the penalty is actually reviewable.

I could be wrong, of course, but that also helps explain the horrible replay system that they have in place.

No, the NBA is just downright shady. There are NBA games where you pretty much already know the winner just by looking at which officials have the game.

Ignoring the fact that you don't have a shred of evidence to support your claims, fact of the matter is that the NFL can control who can and can't show their games.

Every single game I've ever watched has that little disclaimer than any broadcast, re-broadcast or other use of the events of the game is prohibited.

But doesn't ESPN have the rights to the game? Wasn't it shown on ESPN?
Doesn't matter if ESPN broadcast the game. That doesn't mean they have unlimited use of the footage. For example, ESPN cannot just rebroadcast the game in full on Tuesday night if they wanted to without the NFL's permission (and permission costs money).

what the hell are you talking about? the evidence is the original clip and the thousands of .gifs in Google that showed Seymour being held with an arm from behind by his neck by O'Hara. Are you saying that clip never existed and I'm a liar? Well, big mouth, I'm no liar and I HAVE pics of the offense from that angle as well as the one the NFL DID leave up.....or are you saying THIS isn't O'Hara holding any unidentified Patriots D lineman on that play?

The real MVP of Super Bowl 42 is not Eli or Tyree, it's Shaun O'Hara. On the "miracle play" we clearly see Richard Seymour has a dead-to-rights sack but Shaun O'Hara turns him around and drags him away from behind by the collar bone so he cant sack Eli. We will miss Shaun. I only hope the refs allow other Giant players to do the same thing in this Super Bowl.

I in no way was talking to you personally but YOU have made it personal. Welcome to ignore...SCUMBAG.
