I think taking the connection between Dowling and Belichick's drafting a step further to comparing opinions of Belichick's drafting to opinions of Thompson's drafting despite similar recent failures is completely acceptable, and I especially won't accept any criticism in this regard from the king of thread-derailing.

I think it's appropriate because draft evaluations are relative. What purpose does it serve to inveigh against BB for his egregious draft misfires if we do not also account for those consistently held up as exemplars - e.g. Sherrod, AJ Jenkins, Sergio Kindle. People here tend to dwell on these misses but you look across the league and there isn't a single elite team that hasn't had a number of similar head scratchers.

I really don't understand comments like this. Yes, he failed as a Patriot due to injuries. That makes him "weak ***ed" and gives him nothing but a future in bagging groceries? Even if he never another NFL paycheck again (which would surprise me), he graduated in three and a half years with a degree in sociology, which would seem to open at least a few doors for him in future endeavors.

Plus he has taken courses off campus ... Tub 101 - Tub 201 - Tub 301.

Many people have brought up fine points with fine reasons for doing so in objection to your points today. When multiple posters, often respected, offer opinions that are coherent, well thought out and meaningful, you take notice. What you don't do is stick to your guns because you detest being disproven.

when they're wrong they slowly morph their opinion in the hope that nobody remembers their original opinion ... like it matters that much being right or wrong.

Being a Pats fan only I cant speak to the volume of miss hits those teams have have had. In our case I would say its the quantity of misses in the early rounds that have killed us.

im pretty sure titus young could have gotten a doctorate in college.

Just because a high level football player got a degree does not mean they actually earned it via educational means.
