We are lucky to have Amendola

I would have thought that in your time away to reflect you would have realized that your attitude and manner of positing creates these type of responses.

Given your own posting style, the irony overload in just the one quoted sentence is enough to remind me of why I put you on ignore time and again. There's really no need to read the rest of your post.

Enjoy your weekend.

He's a consolation prize, and a poor one, given that they lost Welker to their own Machiavelli-style stupidity and arrogance. I wish him the best, but why think of any player as anything more than another cog in the machine when the team doesn't?

Lets think about this deus. Welker was here for 6 very productive REGULAR seasons. Spectacular! Playoffs roll around. Yeah he helps move the ball but isn't that monster threat like the regular season. 2011 to me showed why welker isn't the key to winning a championship. Had 2 nice playoff games before the Super Bowl but gronk and ahern were the threats. And in the Super Bowl; yes our D let the giants drive. But welker had the opportunity that Troy brown has had, that Tom Brady has had and deon branch had etc. he had the opportunity to get that ring and show why he is a HOF great player. He had everything right. Open right then, turned around to catch the ball and it bounces off his hands. HE couldn't embrace the role of being one of the greats. He couldn't seize the opportunity like all the greats do. He just can't. So it leads me to say, welker was a awesome player. But he isn't the player you want to have to catch that crucial pass. He drops to many, 2012 AFCCG for example. Wide open and can't catch a pass. Put the dynast branch, Troy brown, heck maybe even gronk, and he catches it. Welker isn't the player for the pats. If you look at how we won SB's it was clutch O that put up the points needed and a D that helped. 07 showed signs of a weak and rebuilding D. We need a D that can gel and the O needs that clutch receiver. Maybe its gronk, who knows. Regardless, welkers gone, probably won't be as productive and playing with the broncos.

You can't have it both ways. If you're going to buy the Patriots side of the argument, you have to buy that Welker was their first choice. That means that your denigration of him in your post doesn't work for the narrative.

But that's not the topic, really. The topic is Amendola, the consolation prize according to Kraft himself:

"Wes Welker, just to be very clear, was our first choice to be with the team,'' Kraft said. "When free agency came and his agents kept on insisting on a very high number that was beyond our number, we had to go to work on alternatives. Our second alternative was Danny Amendola.

Patriots owner Kraft blames Wes Welker's agent for departure - NFL - Don Banks - SI.com

I wish him well, but there's no sense investing yourself in this team's individual players, and the front office has made that clear with its actions. Root for the laundry, but you might as well consider the players as nothing more than numbers on a field.

Nice to see you dismiss a little friendly advice as well.
I consider it a complement to be on your ignore list. As we all know it is only make believe. It is your tactic to pretend you don't see the arguments of posters who call out your arrogance, disinterest in facts, and willingness to twist anything to support whatever agenda you are rallying on.

You really should have read the entire post because you could have learned something. But of course, we all know you did read it, and this is your way of ducking it.

I imagine it is fun for you to alienate people, here as likely everywhere you go.

I should have known better than to make an effort.

Is this where you pretend to put me on ignore so you can post your drivel and pretend you don't read those that see through it?

I think my point's been made regarding your posts. Time to move on.

I see you still have not answered my question despite myself answering yours multiple times. Classic trolling. #slowclap

The irony here is that Deus and Andy are two sides of the same coin.

I did answer your question, and I posted the comments of Kraft in doing so. You were not correct.

Your post was neither friendly nor advice, but a cheap attempt to pile on. You post in the same basic style that I do, and you get many of the same type of responses that I do, even though your a homer, so I noted the hypocritical nature of your attack and moved on. You're now pretending that you were doing something other than piling on, which just makes it more ..... you.

And, as I'm sure you know from back when I could use FFvb and wouldn't even see the quotes of ignored people in another person's post, even you when you were a mod, I don't pretend to put anyone on ignore. I do it. Now, you can keep biting at my ankles in a thread where I did nothing but point out the truth in a manner that offended a few homers, or you can let this drop.

What an enlightening, insightful, thought-provoking exchange all this's been!! GOD, I love FootBall!!

Lost? I think the general consensu league wide is the Patriots had their price and CHOSE to move on. Whether that is the right decision or not remains to be seen.

Welker was asking for a lot more than any team was willing to give. He tested the market, he soon realised his asking price was unrealistic and, by the time he got back to us, we'd moved on. Simple.

But, back on topic, I love the guy. I've admired him for a while and I've watched a lot of Rams games. He's had two unfortunate injuries and one thing I noticed was he got hung out to dry by a lot of Bradford throws; he's very inaccurate.

I tend to reserve the word injury prone for injuries like missing games consistently for minor knocks and pulls...which he hasn't. Freak injuries which I hope won't happen here.

I'm pretty sure you're one of those who knocked the signing of Welker and what we paid for him when we brought him here with your current attitude on Amendola. It's safe to say is first four years in this league were far more productive than Welker's, so lets reserve judgement.

It was in fact both advice and friendly, regardless of your misinterpretation of it.
My posting style is certainly not the same as yours, and my point was clearly not about getting the responses, but your shock that you do, and apparent positioning yourself as a victim. Bring argumentative is not the point, being incredulous that it creates strong responses is.

And, as I'm sure you know from back when I could use FFvb and wouldn't even see the quotes of ignored people in another person's post, even you when you were a mod, I don't pretend to put anyone on ignore. I do it.
Yes you say that. I don't believe it, and history has given me pretty solid proof.

Disagree that there is truth in characterizing the Patriots as ignorant and stupid, otherwise agree, now that I have clarified these points, it would be pointless to continue this discussion.

Why does everyone call it two drops?
One was critical and SB outcome changing.
The other was a routine drop in a game we wouldn't have won if he caught it.

Piling on I guess...........let's just say the ONE that got away is the difference between the great and the near great.

Unfortunately since his Patriot career ended without a ring, that play may be his legacy.

He didn't die a hero, he just lived long enough to see himself become the villain.

I did answer your question, and I posted the comments of Kraft in doing so. You were not correct.

at no point did you answer my initial question of "How much would you have offered welker, since 2/10 with incentives was Stupid"

Instead you deflected, turned the discussion into another direction, which you ended with "nobody REALLY knows what happened" Its a classic strategy i have seen on the internet. Its a very political way of having a discussion, where you refuse to answer the question posed, answer a question you create yourself, and then when that answer doesn't fit with your initial statement you shut it down with a very blanket and hard to argue conversation ender.

Which is fine, I'm not going to begrudge you, however i know that you are one of those people who just isnt to be taken seriously, at all.

I originally posted something how Deus loves to imply other people are small whereas he is somehow much bigger than they are..

But I'm deleting it, because he just isnt worth it anymore and I'm tired of it and him already.

I apologize for my part in helping the self-proclaimed "Wrath of God" make yet another thread all about him.

----

And in one sheep's opinion.

1) It was a mistake not to keep Welker.

2) Amendola is not Wes Welker.

3) If we HAVE to move on from Wes Welker then I am excited to see what Amendola can do with this system and Brady throwing him the ball.

4) I love the Patriots.

5) Belichick is not perfect -far from it, but there is no one I'd rather have coaching this team than him, warts and all.

6) Criticize Belichick all you want, but if you start in with the over the top hyperbole and insults then don't be shocked when this sheep responds in a snarky manner.

7) If all this makes me a sheep, a clone, or a homer.. then **** you and good for me.

Good lord I can't believe how many of these threads end in people arguing semantics, context and language. I cannot wait for this season to start. This offseason has seemed much longer than others.

What are you trying to imply by using the word "semantics" in that kind of context??
