How nice.... one of my first two posts in over a month is responded to with a mindless attack. Gotta love the Stepford posters.

to be fair, the first of your two newest posts that i read was hilariously bad.

I don't understand how offering someone a better contract than the one they took is being "Machiavellian-style stupidity".

How much would you have offered welker if you were the GM. I'm honestly interested in hearing your armchair GM numbers that you would have given him.

Both my posts were fine. The fact that you disagreed with one doesn't make it bad, sorry, and the fact that you still haven't figured out what really happened with the Welker situation certainly doesn't bode well for your takes on other topics and issues.

ok just so we are clear, here is what i've come to understand happened

2011 offseason, welker gets franchised, while franchised he is offered a 2 year 16 million dollar contract full guaranteed, which he declines.

playing through 2012 on the franchise tag, welker is not offered a new deal until the season ends at which point the patriots offer him 2 years 10 million dollars, with incentives to bring it to 2/14, welker knowing he has all the leverage, turns this contract down and shops his services in free agency.

During free agency welker is offered two(2) contracts, 2 years 12 million dollars with 6 million guaranteed from denver, and 2 years 15 million dollars from the tennessee titans. during this time, The new england patriots offered, amendola 5 years 30 million, which was accepted.

Welker upon seeing his incoming offers comes back to new england and says "hey, are you guys willing to match this contract denver offered me?" New england says no, however the 2/$10 with incentives is still available to you. he turns it down a second time.

Is that correct?

Can you answer my question Deus? what would you have offered Welker?

And yet you continue to be "surprised" after tens of thousands of posts that your "aggressive posting style" mysteriously gets you the kind of responses that allows you to then answer back with one of your pet little condescending sheep, clone comments.

How tiring.

How boring.

How predictable.

shh don't scare him away, I think i've got him cornered into a really simple question, i want to see if he is able to answer it, or if he tries to escape through an angry attack post about how i spelled something wrong, or didn't use a semi colon.

How was I surprised? I simply pointed out a basic fact. The boring repetition of posters like yourself are a large part of the reason I took a break in the first place. Now, having pointed that out, off to ignore you go, little sheep.

I hereby accept any punishment and ban the Moderators see fit to give me.

You sir are one major, self-aggrandizing ass-hole.

You are as mindless an idiot as you get off on pretending the rest of us "little sheep" are if you cannot understand why you get the kind of boring repetitious responses you do.

And I take being ignored by you as a compliment and as proof of your incredible, megalomaniac hypocrisy.

I cannot speak for Deus, but this is not in agreement with the facts as I understand them. The key difference is the highlighted phrase. When Welker did not accept the Pats offer, the Pats immediately moved to sign DA. When Welker came back to give the Patriots a chance to match the Denver offer, they declined because they already had reached an agreement with DA. Thus there was not no longer any offer on the table for Welker, at which point he signed with Denver. Some have misconstrued these events to mean the Pats did not want Welker, and that there was a split between Kraft (who said the team wanted him) and Belichick. My interpretation is that both BB and Kraft are on the same page and that they both wanted Welker, but only at their price. Welker would have liked to stay in NE, and had BB not already reached an agreement with DA, he would have.

Can you answer my question Deus? what would you have offered Welker?

"Wednesday, I personally got a call from Wes and he told me about this offer from Denver. He called Bill [Belichick] as well. We met and chatted. We have a lot of people, we've committed a lot of money to this inside position -- you have Gronk [tight end Rob Gronkowski], you have [tight end Aaron] Hernandez, you have Danny [Amendola] now -- it was just unfortunately a little bit too late. If he had called one day earlier, he would have been with us.''

Patriots owner Kraft blames Wes Welker's agent for departure - NFL - Don Banks - SI.com

So, no, you're not correct, at least according to Kraft.

So that Danny Amendola.... quite a stand up guy......................... opcorn:

okay so the only thing i didnt understand is that after welker declined to sign, and the patriots got Amendola, they did not offer to have welker back at the contract value that he had declined previously.

I think my point's been made regarding your posts. Time to move on.

I'm still not understanding how that is "Machiavellian-stupid".

It's not.

It's just Deus' usual Im-so-much-smarter-than-Belichick hyperbole that he spews out with almost every post.

Its not that he's criticizing Belichick (for example I think it was a huge mistake not to pay Welker a 2/17) -it's the insulting rhetoric he uses to get his point across.

99.9% of the "boring repetition of posters" like my posts calling him out for his hyperbole would never been posted in the first place had he simply chosen to use a less insulting approach and tone down what he refers to as his "aggressive posting style".

I wonder if this post will reach a critical mass of call outs that usually sends him scurrying under a rock without posting for a few days.

That would be interesting indeed, given that I don't stop posting because of call outs.

It would be highly unlikely.

Lol. People like you who claim to know all the facts here are just being foolish. No one here knows exactly how it went down. It's still mostly speculation that can't be proven one way or the other at this point.
We might know what happened someday if BB writes an autobiography, but for now, concluding that it was all on Welker and his agent (or vice versa) is simply talking out of one's *****.

I too wish we could just move on, forget about Welker, and support whoever is currently on the team. Thing is, threads like this bring out more Welker haters in the end than people who are concerned about our receiver sitation and want to know the thought process behind allowing Welker walk. My suggestion to the OP is to bear that in mind before starting any more threads that inevitably resurrect the Welker debate.

2013-2017:

Wes Welker - 32-36 years old
Danny Amendola - 27-31 years old

Thanks for everything, Wes - - you were one of the greatest Pats ever.

No he wasn't. Really, really good, yes. But, sorry, those two drops are the difference between the great and the near great.

Yes, I will cheer for him in warm ups and thank him for the effort. I am also glad we have moved on to Amendola, gotta think upside.

This is text book BB - better to move on from a player maybe a year to soon than a year too late.

I would have thought that in your time away to reflect you would have realized that your attitude and manner of positing creates these type of responses.
If you wish to consider Bill Belichick stupid and arrogant, you are certainly entitled to that opinion, but you should be aware enough to recognize that the majority of fans of this team view him as one of the most intelligent and most motivated by winning of his peer, appreciate the job he has done for their team, or both.
If you wish to post in a manner that portrays your opinion and belief as fact, and post critical comments about a very successful leader of the franchise, I would think you would be prepared for criticism of your posts.

Why does everyone call it two drops?
One was critical and SB outcome changing.
The other was a routine drop in a game we wouldn't have won if he caught it.
