Broncos: Easiest path to the #1 seed ever?

We will see. We won every one of our games during our 11 game win streak by at least 7 points, beating the teams we were supposed to beat, and quite soundly by that. Unlike some other teams... *COUGH*cardinals*COUGH*

I'll take a week 2 loss and beating the 1,3, and 5 seeds while losing to the 4 seed by 1 point on the road over losing to both the 2 and 3 seeds and beating the 4 and 6 seeds lol

You're being just as obnoxious

Hardly. A reasoned, balanced post with a couple of dubious claims isn't obnoxious.

Note to newcomers: To say that Deus Irae doesn't speak for the rest of us as to what is or isn't obnoxious is ... an understatement.

In response to us not being as good as our record, I'm just going to quote myself. Getting to the playoffs is the first step, winning games in the playoffs is almost like a totally different football season. Historically Manning has struggled coming off a bye...neither of us have actually won a Super Bowl in some time now.

We're a good team. The pats are a good, possibly better team. Being home helps us, but when it comes time to play the game, who knows what will happen. I really can't see a team other than the pats or broncos representing the afc in the Super Bowl though.

a fair and reasonable post

It's more of a guarantee than yours, our QB is 16-6 in the post season Manning is 9-10. I know its the NFL we lost to the fricken Jets coming off a bye. Patriots are the best team in the AFC so go troll somewhere else
Maybe. There are no promises in this game no matter how good the fans think a team is. Believe it or not I doubt the no 1 power ranking and 1st division spot as well even though I'm a Denver fan. The best team will win power rankings and speculation will not influence that.
holy krist...Professor Football!...we are the luckiest fans in the world!!!! we're going to learn from a true master of NFL common knowledge!

so blessed we are...can't believe it...thrill us with your acumen agent Starlin...er...Lite...

Nice spam you got there. Congratz on being one post closer.

You should either read all of his posts or feel free to have a nice cup of, you know. If you hadn't figured out he's trolling (no surprise, given your general level of awareness), his "Cardinals" comment should have enlightened you.

Also remember the Cardinals game he is coughing about had a Pats TD called back by a phantom PI call due to rent-a-ref's

Finally. A level-headed Pats fan. Thank you.

I admit the reason I'm here is not the most valiant of reasons but really, a bunch of posters in this thread are no better than I am.

It will be a good game, Denver is easily the 2nd best team in the conference I just think in the end the Patriots match up better with the Broncos than the Broncos do with the Patriots

closer to what??...slicing my wrists from your sheer ignorance?

I was going to mention everything that went wrong with that game (phantom holding, missed FG, losing Hernandez the first play of the game thus totally throwing off our game plan) but realized he's a troll and that's what he wanted so I just stated the facts its better to lose to a team you're not supposed to lose to and beat the good teams than to beat weaklings and lose to everyone good. The latter is how you go one and done in the playoffs :D

This is the exact same type of argument people were making against the Pats last year.

Bingo. It was a bit easier to overlook the Broncos with Tim Tebow last year, but not with Peyton Manning. No freaking way.

Your goal of ultimate internet thug and being respected from every one on this forum of course!

Going back to the original point of the thread, the ease of Broncos path to their seed, one interesting stat that doesnt get enough play.

record against teams in the top 10 defenses

0-1

record against teams in the top 16 defenses

1-2

If you extend that to top 17

1-3

Now, I am not saying that means anything going forward, but that's a disproportionate amount of games againsts the leagues dregs on defense.

I believe a poster on this forum pointed out that the Broncos have played 5 bottom 10 defenses this year

You complain about the calls in the cardinal game (note: game result - L)
You complain about the calls in the ravens game (note: game result - L)
You complain about the refs robbing NE in a Den/NE matchup just cause he is Manning (note: HYPOTHETICAL result - L)

Notice a trend?

Here let me state the "facts." New England lost against the Cardinals and the Ravens. Get over it.

Also, while I'm sure you could pile up some equally impressive patriots stats...I stumbled upon this tweet that gives some credence to the Broncos being kind of good ;)

"@MoveTheSticks: DEN top 5 ranking: points, points allowed, sacks, sacks allowed, yards, yards allowed, 3rd down offense, 3rd down defense, passing yards"

We're a pretty balanced team. Not mentioned in that tweet, we were 14 points shy of the largest second half point differential in NFL history, at +150 something.

So perhaps we're not as good as our record indicates, but I certainly wouldn't take us lightly. We've come a long way since our last match up.

as a counter point, the pats records are

top 10
5-3

top 16
7-3

I swear you guys talk about the broncos here more than the pats I should really come here more often! You would think this was a serious rivalry instead of the true stomping of the broncos it has been in the past. Well I'm done arguing with homers night all!

I am over it, I was stating the circumstances regardless they lost no shame losing by 1 point on the road to a Ravens team with Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Ngata, and Webb fully healthy. (You guys played them with a hobbled Reed and Ngata + no Lewis or Webb). Cardinals loss was a total failure, should've won but they didn't. Do you have anything to add or are you going to ignore every statistic that stats the Broncos are not as impressive as they seem?

Anyhow, suppose Denver really "deserves" to be 11-5 or 12-4, on the theory that 13-3 took some luck.

Umm -- so what?

Also, I'm not sure that they've benefited from inordinate luck. Yes, the schedule has been easy, which is lucky. But with those solid wins, perhaps they haven't relied on that much in-game luck to go with it.
