I don't think Slater was a great pick...he is primarily a one trick pony on STs who has kept his job because he is o.k. at it,I think he should be more involved in the passing game since one of Brady's longest pass completions in 2011 fell into the hands of Matt in week 1 against the Phins.

The attempt to turn Matt into a defensive back was a failure.

IMO the 2 greatest late day picks in Belichick's tenure has been of course,Brady and David Givens.

How is a 5th round Pro Bowl special teams ace not a great pick?

Easy: if you remain convinced that special teams themselves are worthless.

Slater is one of the best gunners in the league.

Slater was picked in the 4th round

My reset targets based on areas not addressed so far:

RB Robert Turbin Utah St 5'10", 225 - A bowling ball, complements existing stable

Oh well. How about Brandon Bolden, Ole Miss 5'11", 225. No-nonsense slasher who did well in the SEC but is kind of a butt-head off the field.

Glad you're here. something occurred to me. If I remember rightly, you were quite hign on Brandon Bair last year. He had some success @TEN last year getting sacks on the interior D/Line. Do you see either Bequette or Chandler Jones filling a similar role this year for us?

Nice pick by the Steelers.

watching the draft do you see any possibilty that Belichick is moving to unique scheme. With the league becoming so passing based I can envision something of a light 3-4 or full time 2-5 look. It would look something like this,

LDE - Deaderick, Faraene
NT - Wilfolk, Love, Pryor
RDE/Hybride - Jones, Baquette, Scott
LOLB - Nincovich, Carter
WILB - Mayo, Carpenter
SILB - Spikes, Fletcher
ROLB - Hightower, Cunningham

Seems like the length and spead at RDE/Hybride could be really disruptive. I could be way off but I'd love to hear you're thoughts.

If this is the case I'd love to see them grab JJ Crick for LDE depth.

Unfortunately, I pretty much had to sit out the draft this year because of work deadlines. I'm woefully underinformed!

2 guys I like with slot potential.

Jarius Wright WR Arkansas

Jeremy Ebert Wr Northwestern

Any chance we trade up today or do we just stay where we are?

But Slater was a 5th round pick by a team that had few openings for bottom of the roster types. I'd say he turned out to be a pretty good pick

What a steal for them. He'll be replacing Casey Hampton in no time.

Steelers have got probably the best value in this draft (probably by quite a bit)

Massie finally gets drafted. Fell like a ton of bricks.
