I was pointing out the value there was at that point in the 2nd, and that we probably could have had Wilson at a later point.

Except that you fail to take into consideration that value is affected by what has already been added to the team. In adding Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower, that took away value from someone like Vinny Curry. And, as I said and you completely ignored, there was clearly something about Reyes and Still that BB felt lowered their value to less than what he felt Wilson brought. Again, only BB can answer that.

I do keep up with the Pats WR depth, and you actually think Chad Johnson is a lock? We brought in guys like Stallworth and Gonzalez but they may not make it past training camp. I'd rather have drafted Randle or Sanu and let them have Chad's spot on the roster.

Yes. Johnson is a lock. Why? Because BB has NEVER cut a player during a season in which said player restructured his deal to stay with the team. Not once. Why? because it's bad business and vets would stop doing it if he did. And before you mention Haynesworth, his deal was restructured to facilitate the trade.. Not so he could stay on the Patriots.

What you would rather have done is beside the point. Just like what I would rather have had is beside the point.

Saying Johnson is a lock and branch is competing for the last spot is a ****** joke. I love ocho but he did nothin last year to suggest he ll be on the team. Him redoin his contract means nothin

No. It's not a joke. Do yourself a favor and go and look at every single veteran who has ever re-done their contract for the Patriots since Bill got here. Not once has he cut any one of them. Doing so is bad business. So, while you have your opinion, I have facts. Just because you don't like the facts doesn't change them.

Just wanted to stop by and say that it looks like the meds wore off and BB is back making our heads hurt. :D

You're hilarious.

Anybody who's existed in the real Universe knows that well-informed people in positions to make decisions constantly make stupid decisions ~ even brilliant men like Coach Bill Belichick, who is the best in ALL the Land, but who has made a LEGION of stupid moves, Tavon Wilson in the 2nd being only his latest.

The notion that BILL DOESN'T MAKE MISTAKES is pure, unprocessed SEWAGE.

He's the BEST.

But he's HUMAN.

LIVE with it.

And stop lecturing the rest of us, if you please.

We DO study this, and we ARE entitled to our opinions, thank you VERY much.

So you watched game tape on Wilson?

OTG, you know I got nothin but love brother, but just because people make mistakes doesn't mean this was a mistake. Plenty of people study the draft but they don't have skin in the game.

Wilson could very well suck but there are guys who fall under the radar all the time. And for the we could have traded back and still gotten him crowd... How do you know?

Mankins was a reach until we heard SF was taking him with the next pick. Vollmer was a reach but the Raiders wanted him in the 2nd as well (if I remember correctly). If it was up to mockers we wouldn't have either of those guys because somebody else 'reached' for them.

Take Dye who you love. If he had been the pick here would you be yelling reach or steal? It's quite possible BB thought Wilson was under-valued just as you think Dye is.

Just saying, somebody hasn't made a mistake until it's a mistake not because anybody here thinks it's a mistake.

And that's just a philosophical argument because I know **** all about Tayvon Wilson.

Well, my Good Brother Scrizz, you seem to be making the point that all I have here is my opinion, and if I'm right, there, then I agree with you 100%.

All I have IS my opinion.

And just because I SAY this was a dumb @$$ move doesn't MAKE it a dumb @$$ move.

But by the same token, I'm quite sure you'll agree: I have every right to go on the record and SAY it's a dumb @$$ move!! :D

One lesson I learned EARLY in life: Just because a guy has earned a reputation as being Brilliant ~ as Coach Bill the Mad (Genius) most emphatically HAS ~ doesn't mean he isn't capable of the most EGREGIOUS of stupid mistakes.

Do I pretend to know all he knows???

Of course not.

Do I pretend to be as well versed in all this as he is???

Absolutely NOT.

But do I then ASSUME that just because he made a move that it was the RIGHT move???

Absolutely...NOT.

To make THAT assumption...would be stupid, INDEED.

Suppose you pick a stock at random, how do you know it won't skyrocket? You don't, so should you invest everything you have in it?

The amazing thing is that some people are better than others at picking stocks, and football players for that matter. With information and some solid, and maybe out of the box thinking, one can make a good judgment. That's no guarantee that it'll work out, but the judgment can be sound.

This pick is absolute garbage and my opinion of BB has definitely dropped a notch because of it. Every scouting report I've seen on this guy indicates that he shouldnt even be in the league and BB trades up to get him in the 2nd?:scream:

Too bad there isn't a vomit smiley, I could use one of those right now

My current problem is that I don't know Wilson from a hole in the wall. Could be Ed Reed. Could be Donna Reed.

So he could bet the safety next door.

Even if we traded #48 back for a 6th Rounder and a bucket of warm spit, we STILL would've been able to pick up Wilson in the 6th...and been UP one bucket of warm spit. :D

Post of the day!

So you watched game tape on Wilson?

Considering your long history of vile attacks on everybody here, and your rich history of unsubstantiated nonsense, What in GOD's name makes you think you warrant a response??

A few things that can give you pause about this pick besides the fact a lot of people study these prospects for a living not just teams, find one that had this guy before the 4th. Find one that fell in love with his potential. BB has not done well drafting CB's. Period. He has not shown a propensity for it, he is an amazing football mind and the best coach of all time for my money, but he hasn't done well in that area......

Enter Tavon Wilson, read all his write-ups, look at his measurables and workouts and compare with the available corners at the time. He isn't head and shoulders above any of them in any measurable statistic. There is always info that we'll never be privy to, but from a fan's perspective there is nothing out there that suggest this guy couldn't be had in the 3rd or later.

This is a true wait and see pick, thats all I'm saying and you can't get upset when fans scratch their heads on this guy.

At least we haven't taken the player with the lowest grade with the best pi ck on NFL.com

That goes to Wolfe and the Bronco's

Has to be said though

If the Pats can get 3 impact players out of this draft Im happy.

Hoping that Hightower and Wilson can help this passing defense.

Oh yeah, the past = the future, I'm glad you cleared that up for me.

Johnson is nothing more than expendable insurance at this point because BB doesnt know what he'll have in the other receivers on the roster. You claim cutting Johnson is bad business, and you might have a point there, do you know what's worse business? Wasting a roster spot on a player who sucks!

I haven't seen a lot of guys go off the board since the traded pick I wish we were getting.

Sorry that the truth hurts. And "wasting a roster spot" on Johnson after he took a paycut to stay here is better business than cutting a guy who took a pay cut. That will have a negative impact down the line and limit what the team can do financially. Because that is what will happen.

OH, and, btw, it's not the first time BB has done it. Troy Brown during his last season. Kevin Faulk last year. Anthony Pleasant during his last season. There are others as well. Players who brought next to nothing to the team, but weren't cut.
