Re: OT: Rex Ryan Crying AGAIN!!

When did Rexy become **** Vermeil?

On the future of Sanchez: *Crying* "We will rally around Mark Sanchez, and we WILL play good football."

Re: OT: Rex Ryan Crying AGAIN!!

Love Diehard, never saw any Sex in the City

I DO watch a lot of masterpiece theater chick flicks

You're also allowed a conditional pass for Masterpiece Theater under the guise of cultural sophistication.........but you're 'skirt'-ing a very fine line now.

Re: OT: Rex Ryan Crying AGAIN!!

This guy has gotten some breaks and achieved genius status with the fan base. Gradually they will soon realize that they have a teenager running their club and has no clue how to lead men. He tries stupid stunts and balls bounces here and there and he is praised as if his master plan worked all along.
He is a buffoon and next season will show him for what he is. I am glad they are retaining the core of their offense.

They guy has done nothing but predict success. Talked s**t, boasted about being a rebelious, against the grain hard nosed org...etc. Total fail. The fans are just as much to blame for buying in 110%. Now they want his head on a platter. A good gambler doesnt put all his chips on black or red. You either win it all or lose it all. Rex wrote the checks and just couldn't honor them. The whole Jest image is just pathetic, from the owners to the fans. It really has to be a horrible feeling to get up in the morning knowing your a jest fan.

Re: OT: Rex Ryan Crying AGAIN!!

Think you're onto something w/the "player friendly coach" thing. Maybe I'm crazy, but every time I hear about this "player friendly coach" character, I think "how long's the fuse on this one?"

To wax Patsocentric, we went from "this team hates its coach" (probably a total exaggeration) to the high point, which is all-pro guys on 3-time SB winning teams, saying he doesn't really pal around with you or "like" you. I remember vividly how bitter Colts fans harped on that when we already had either two or three rings... with some theory that he doesn't really know his guys so it's all smoke and mirrors or luck or somesuch (look how many regular season games we win, you guys just get lucky... remember that one?)

Here's the difference between your casual work buddy and your coach -

If your casual work buddy doesn't do his job and the media comes calling, he might throw you under the bus, or maybe (like this time) he's get all weepy and claim incompetence as a defense, and you get pissed off and realize it was always a mistake to accord him a position of authority (or respect the authority granted by the organization.) He's like that middle-management guy from "Office Space" with the coffee cup glued to his hand saying "hey buddy, why don't you just go ahead and sack the quarterback this play? Okay? Okay!"

If the media is looking for your COACH and he's just lost a game, he says "WE might have done this or that better and it all starts with the coaching." He doesn't over-promise, and he doesn't assume success. He succeeds first, and then tells you in the locker room not to get ****y after 3 little super bowls. He tells the media you're never as good as your good games or as bad as your bad games. And he rarely throws individuals under the bus, or praises them as the second coming after a good game.

Short version, part of not being the "Buddy coach" (or "son-of-Buddy" coach) is being the adult in the room, for Christ's sake.

I'm sure Jesters that are pro-Ryan are saying he's really firing everybody up by showing his emotion. Yeah, the boo-hoo school of motivational speaking.

All that said, there are several roads to success. You never know when the Jets will stumble on one of them.

After all, you know the old saying about infinite monkeys with typewriters producing Hamlet.

Re: OT: Rex Ryan Crying AGAIN!!

Pats tried a couple "buddy" style player coaches. **** McPherson and Pete Carroll. Short lifespans.

Re: OT: Rex Ryan Crying AGAIN!!

And, they did better in a couple of years with no cap. When you have to ask a player to take a pay cut, he's not your buddy any longer. Rex just can't blow smoke up their a**and tell them how great they are. He has tough decisions to make with a cap. And, doesn't look like his players coach style is going to work when his guys want to get paid.

Rex is NOT a good HC. He and Sanchez deserve each other...

Wrecks is confused and he's confusing his team -- you can't have things both ways. He boasts and makes predictions, then he tries to be a tough guy, then he babies his players and plays favorites, then he cries in front of the team. The man is a basket case.

My God, just flashed back to McPherson hugging every player after a **** season. I couldn't believe that ****. I was like, why don't we get a big purple dinosaur to coach the damn team, if it's all about the luv anyway?

Dude: It's whether you win or lose. It really, really is.

My favorite part from the NJ.Com report was the last line:

"Linebacker Bart Scott gestured with his middle finger toward a photographer and yelled to get the camera out of his face."

"Can't wait" eh, meathead??????

Oh, the indignity!!!!!

This is the best episode of "Hard Knocks" ...ever!!

Sanchez is still a young QB.

It could be worse - look at Tony Romo - he's now entering into his 30's where skills for a QB will slowly decline, and he still has trouble performing when it counts the most.

I don't think you can make this stuff up.
Today, after his captain quit on the team, Rex the Genius announced he will no longer have captains.
I kid you not.

That team has a lot more problems than Tony Romo.

Mark Sanchez on the other hand is still playing like a rookie

Holmes was yelled at by teammates and told to get off the field during the loss to the Dolphins.

“I don’t see how he can come back,” one Jets veteran told the New York Daily News.

Asked if that was the majority opinion of the locker room, the veteran said “yes.”

Teammate can’t see Holmes returning to Jets | ProFootballTalk

From July:

The New York Jets addressed the No. 1 item on their free-agent list, coming to terms Wednesday morning with wide receiver Santonio Holmes, according to a league source.

The deal is for five years and $50 million, with $24 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. It's one of the biggest guarantees ever given to a wide receiver.
