End of an era at Penn State.

Those two things don't belong in the same sentence. It simultaneously magnifies "Cameragate" beyond what it really was, and diminishes one of the ugliest sports-related crimes ever.

How in the world can anyone even think of the two situations together?

Rumor has it that another bombshell is forthcoming. FWIW, money from the Second Mile going to PSU. There will be sanctions from the NCAA.

Also, FWIW, the Feds will go after everyone that has stepped down or been fired to date for child abuse, including JoPa.

LOIC....PSU is screwed.

You know what else?

Sandusky should be in jail right now. F bail.

I'm a huge Patriots fan, but also a PSU alum, staff member and season ticket holder. Two major scandals involving the two programs I love the most in 5 years. This is just depressing. Please pray first and foremost for the victims of these crimes. My mind keeps going back and forth between anger, disgust to betrayal. I want to believe that JoePa did the right thing, but I don't know if I can do so until all of the facts come out. And even then I think I will have a hard time doing so. Remeber that it was not to long ago that BB was vilified by the media for the whole SpyGate mess.

I think what the students did last night was stupid. They had every right to protest, but it should have never turned destructive. That paints all students and others in the PSU community in a negative light.

It's going to take a long time to heal from this, and I hope that PSU can at some point recover from this tragedy.

I don't know if I would compare this to Spygate. JoePa allegedly participated in a cover up for an active child rapist. Belichick had a staff member videotape something 66,000 fans in the season could see sitting in the stands.

I compare this to Bernard Law and the Massachusetts Caltholic Church. Although JoePa didn't go as far as Law did by enabling pedophile priests by moving them by region to region so they wouldn't get caught and by default getting a whole new group of unsuspecting victims, but he did look the other way when he knew something was seriously wrong most likely for the sake of winning football games.

That about does it.

As for Spygate, the poster is hopefully referring to the media and public outcry, not comparing the actual acts. However, in the case of PSU the outcry is completely appropriate whereas Spygate was, is and always will be an overblown mess that was laughable in its hyperbole.

As for PSU, no amount of outrage will ever be enough for those families.

For the Victims and their Mothers.

They had no family and that allowed Sandusky to move in.

That's true, but, OTOH, how does outrage help them?

Well, that's kind of what I'm saying. It can't help them now, no matter how much of it there is.

However, outrage from Paterno, and the school administration might have helped back in 2002 (or perhaps 1998?) and prevented some of this.:(

That's true, isn't it. This whole story just makes me want to puke.

You don't know if you would ??? WTF ???

A legal activity that Roger didn't like vs. the second worst crime (second to murder) that can be committed.

Mike McQueary should be going to jail, he SAW anal i(you finish it off) and did nothing other than tell Daddy the next day a decade ago. And he will be on the sidelines on Saturday.

Penn State should burn in hell.

This doesn't completely absolve him of guilt, but I can't tell you what I would do if I saw something that repellant. Moreover, this was a situation where he could potentially have been committing career suicide by coming forward.

I don't have tons of sympathy for any of the adults in this situation, but I have the least enmity for McQueary.

I have a friend going to Penn State and all the other SPORTS teams are boycotting their next games (like womens volleyball etc) My dad was recruited by this man to play WR (he chose Dartmouth instead PSU had no hockey, just club).

How they treated Joe PA was a DISGRACE. They posted an ENVELOPE on his house's door in it was info to call a phone #... Papa Joe was FIRED by the way of a TELEPHONE Call. He was FIRED right before Senior day and they couldn't allow him to do SR. day and then RETIRE???

this is BULL*HIT and a disgrace.

the kids have flipped over a couple media fans. I know of 1.:):):)

Joe should have done more... What about the AD what aboutthe VP and the President that were informed??? Those ppl are the ones at fault and should take extreme HEAT. PSU allowed Sanphucky to have full previledges on campus, despite him leaving the football realm.

What about the JANITORS that witnessed a different rape and never went to the authorities; these men were FIRED 8 months later (they reported it to their Boss who relayed it to upper channels)

I would have physically intervened between the child and the rapist, subdued him, and then dragged him to the police station. Weighing your career path while watching a rape occur? Really?

JoePa deserved far worse. He knowingly did nothing to stop child rape. Honestly, he should be getting raped in jail right next to Sandusky.

Why am I not surprised you would say this ?

Paterno is the disgrace and if the laws were right he'd be in jail. The only question is whether he lives long enough to answer to the civil lawsuits heading his way.

Unfortunately, nothing but many, many years of counselling will help them and most likely their lives will still never be the same again.

If JoePa knew what Skandusky was doing and looked the other way and helped to cover it up, the only disgrace will be that JoePa doesn't go to jail. I am sorry, but I see nothing wrong with what he did based on the evidence indicates that Joe Pa probably knew a lot more than he was letting on.
