After Brady throws a pick, are you upset with his lack of effort to tackle?

It was a disappointing loss, but back away from the ledge people. Sometimes you learn more from losing than you do from winning. Once again this team lost when Brady had an off day. Someone needs to step the hell up besides him. I'm looking at you defense.

I've been saying that every year since the AFC Championship loss to the Colts. I'm sorry, but it's become way too common and I don't have much hope for this team as currently constituted. Tom Brady is on the back end of his most productive years and there isn't any room for this crap anymore. The offense is great, but they can't continually have to outgun other teams because the defense flat out sucks and Albert Haynesworth isn't going to change that.

I have to disagree with you regarding the pass rush. It was there in the 1st half. It drew two holding penalties and forced two interceptions. The problem was that they got tired and the safeties and LBers (outside of Mayo) weren't helping in pass coverage. I'm sorry, but Guyton absolutely sucks there. Fletcher is better than him.

The Pats have no safeties beyond Chung. I disagreed with BB cutting both Sanders and Meriweather and I stand by that disagreement. Barrett and Brown are nothing more than Special Teamers.. That is plainly obvious. Though I'm not sure that Brown is that since he doesn't really attack the ball carrier and can't seem to bring them down properly. He had people wrapped up 3 times and they still got more yardage on him.

Why are you focusing on Guyton? It looked like to me that he was one of the few who actually did his job today.

Good thing we waiting until we were playing catch up to run the ball with Ridley. The sooner Ridley supplants BJGE as the starter and we actually make a meaningful attempt to diversify this offense, the better.

Re: Tired of playing arena ball yet Brady & Belichick

BTW time of possession was 31 to 28 mins for Pats. About the same as it was in last weeks arena ball game against the Chargers. Brady again threw over 40 times for the 3rd game in a row.
Not happenin'!!!!

Re: Ocho's TD drop the last straw for him?

Kinda wondering if Chad goes away like Joey Galloway after that wk 2 loss to the NJY in 2009....where he dropped a key pass late in the game.

My free pass is almost expired. As much as I like Chad and wanted him to suite up in a Pats uniform that drop was huge today. YES WE WENT DOWN AND STILL SCORED 7 POINTS. But how much clock did we lose in the process? Buffalo could of drove down the field and scored in a quick fashion like we were getting used to and the Pats may have had 3 or 4 minutes left to drive the field at the end. The timing of the score would of been perfect. Granted the defense still has make the stop but I'm not giving the freebie to Chad either. All we need is another Rachede Caldwell on this team dropping critical passes at critical moments. The guy is gripping right now which makes him mentally fragile. He's been running that route since he was probably 8 years old, the time he has had in the Patriots system is irrelevant at this point.

Yeah, Moss makes the catch every time with one hand if he had to.

Can't help but think there was another player to be had with some of that $10mil in cap space and 4mil we gave ocho that could have made a difference on defense. Maybe Kraft should get off some of that money

Re: Time to give up on the one gap 43 aggressive D that cant stop anyone

I believe Buffalo caught the ball and declined the "bogus" bodden penalty. So that didn't really come into play. You have a point on the Love penalty though.

The call on Bodden never happens if the call on Love was correct. Because Buffalo call that play since they are at their 5 yard line, not their 20..

Re: Ocho's TD drop the last straw for him?

I don't think Moss is the answer (he'll just tempt B'OB to get even farther away from what is working). But today was the last straw for Ocho in my book.

PS - IMO running the sloppy route that led to an int was a much bigger screw up than the drop.

Gotta agree there. I don't believe that Ocho was supposed to be running a Post. It looked like he was supposed to be running an IN Route and he was sloppy on it.

That being said, i'd rather bench Ocho and give Price a chance if/when Price is healthy. Heck, give Slater more chances.

Re: When/why did Bill Belichick turn into Tony dungy?

How about we run the gd ball just alittle bit. You get a lead and you throw it (literally) away. Defense was terrible as usual. Were turning into Indy east. I have confidence BB will turn it around though.

Fully agree. The Pats have BJGE, Woodhead and Ridley. Go with the hot hand. Ridley was doing well there, and then the Pats stopped using him. I'd have loved to have seen a two back set at the goal line where Brady fakes it to the RB going left and then pitches it to the one to the right who would have, at most, one defender to beat.

no, i'm saying if mccourty didn't try to play hero and tackled the guy at the 1, it would be a bills td with 2 minutes for us to work with. Because it was changed from a td to 1rst and goal at the 1, the bills were able to take some knees and knock out some time.

I mean, did mccourty really think his crappy defense was going to put up a goal line stand at the end when it was sh.it all day long. SHOULDA LET HIM SCORE!

Thats dumb. You cant expect a defender to have that thought on a play that started near midfield. Let them score is a once in a career situation, not something you think about in that situation.

They did it on the drive when the score was tied too. They did the reverse to Welker for 19 the Ridley for 8 and 4. Then they do exactly what I hate. It's not so much that they pass but that they go empty backfield. Why would you not go play action there?

It's time to give Ridley his shot. He just has the burst and size coupled together that the other backs do not. He seems to always get a couple of yards. An effective run game is getting 3-5 yards every time.

Re: Time to give up on the one gap 43 aggressive D that cant stop anyone

When was the last time we signed a free agent who could actually play? Our strategy seems to be to sign 5 jags at 2m a pop instead of actually signing a difference maker. You can even throw in trades too - haven't had a decent trade since 2007 (Moss and Welker)

The past three years or so we have had a revolving door of Jags. Not one of them has come in and been a key player. This year is the same - Ellis, Carter, Idehibego, Ocho etc. Then every year we complain about having no playmakers.

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Sacks do not win games by themselves. Forcing 3 and outs helps to win games. Keeping your opponent from scoring more than your offense is the key.

Actually stopping the other team helps. Playing run defense, rushing the passer, covering receivers all are part of that, and we did none of the 3.

I have to disagree with you regarding the pass rush. It was there in the 1st half. It drew two holding penalties and forced two interceptions.

You must have low standards for pass rushing if you continue to defend it in today's game. The Bills must have a had a great one today. It caused 4 INTS.

Sarcasm, I assume?

JB - I'm not "focusing on Guyton". If you'd read my posts in this thread, you'd see that I hold Guyton (who was horrible in coverage) Barrett, and Brown responsible for much of the issues today. As others have mentioned, neither Barrett nor Brown were in correct places today.

I mention Guyton among the LBers because I feel that Guyton hasn't progressed in 3 years. Guyton was beaten several times today by Chandler and it was either Spikes or Guyton who let Chandler get free in the End Zone for the TD. (Couldn't tell which by the film as the replay camera was too far away).

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Sounds like the Jets fans blaming Schotty, Pathetic. BOB is an ok play caller. This loss goes on Brady. Maybe he had a lot of pressure to perform, but thats nothing new to him.

Then of course there was no pass rush today, and the corners couldn't cover for 3 seconds.

Brady put 31 points on the board nad almost 500 yards of offense. Only 1 of the the Ints hurt the defense more than a punt would.
This loss was all about a defense that was totally incompetent when it mattered.

Because the OC sucks at play calling.

Sorry, I'm not going to read every page of this thread. But, as I said, Guyton was in the bottom third of defensive liabilities today.

Maybe I'm thinking of a different play but I'm pretty sure that was Ninkovich who lost his man?

Actually, the Bills pass rush did NOT force 4 interceptions. It didn't force the one that was tipped off of Woodhead's hands. Nor did it force the one when Brady was trying to throw to Gronkowski. Least you could do is be factual.

And, I did say "the 1st half".

There's plenty of blame to go around for the whole defense. Particular plays aren't really important after a game like that.
