No surprises or tough cuts yet, IMO

Agreed. Richard is probably the "best" player to be cut so far, but with the number of DL we have his cut was a foregone conclusion. Still waiting for the annual "Wow!" cut (though Sanders might have been that already).

Sanders was definitely a "wow" cut for me, but that may have been a case where people such as myself were misreading the reports that the Patriots were desperate for safety help.

I thought they were desperate for a #4. It seems that they were desperate for a #3, feeling that Sanders was no longer the answer, for whatever reason.

Depending on Ryan Wendell's injury status I wonder if Thomas Austin has shown enough to stick on the initial 53. Possibly a casualty after week 1 of the regular season and eventually ending on the PS.

OK, the easy ones first, the next 18 should have at least 2-4 guys that will excite comment.

Austin started out camp strong but then fizzled, I'm of the opinion that a veteran acquisition is in order for depth purposes because Ohrenberger doesn't seem like anything more than a short-term solution in case of injury.

Re: Announced cuts: countdown to 53

Saw this and thought it was Darius. Not yet I guess... but soon?

Darius has had a very good preseason.

Why everyone expects to see him cut when the Patriots have McCourty, a minorly injured Bodden and no one else...well it boggles the mind.

Also don't forget that the last couple guys to make the roster are quickly cut within days and stuffed on the practice squad.

Definitely was scrolling through the names and saw Butler and had to double check to make sure I wasn't correct.

While I think he is potentially 4th on the CB depth chart (yeah, I might be putting Dowling ahead of him prematurely) I just can't imagine BB cutting him this early. That position is too important and we are too thin at it.

I think Richard may make the PS...unless he has really gone backwards since he was drafted...for some reason I thought BB saw potential in him..maybe he still just needs more practice....think he was injured last year..no?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone grabs Richard. He's acquitted himself well throughout the preseason, just came out on the wrong side of a numbers game. I think he could be a viable backup for somebody, maybe.

I'd say that Arrington and Dowling count as 'someone' although I agree that Butler should make the team. I haven't really doubted that he would at any point this preseason, he's always been on my final 53 and it wasn't even really a tough choice.

How badly is Arrington injured....also is Bodden back to 100% yet?

After all the cuts...my guess is the Pats sit at 52 players and sign or trade for someone...Can't see them sitting on a ton of cap space.....

these cuts r all Mickey Mouse.

haven't seen bubble guys yet

Tate will be gone.... I want to see this:)

Word is that Arrington's injury isn't anything major. Nothing huge to worry about.

You're right about Arrington, though I saw him playing some safety last week and thought Belichick might consider shifting him there. Dowling we haven't seen enough on to make any assessment.
