Reiss' response re: the dead space amnesty:

@PatsCast Still digesting all the moving parts. Don't have an answer for you on that one

Losing in the AFCCG and the wildcard is essentially the same thing.

Yes, except that they are completely different.

Regarding the dead cap space cutoff date of March 11: that's not a random date; that is the day the lockout began.

However, if the NFL is going to do this, then wouldn't the day the NFL 2010 year ended and CBA expired (I think it was March 1 or 2 if I recall) have been a more appropriate date to use for the dead cap space cutoff?

The other option would have been to give teams a few days to cut people with no repercussion. You could tie it in with the time given to negotiate before you can officially sign free agents this week, for example. Since teams have to spend to 99% this year, doing this would not have hurt the players - it simply would have shifted where actual dollars would have been spent; in this case, on players earning their 2011 pay.

Yes, it's definitely not a random date, but it doesn't really make sense on any level.

jets are currently 7.8 million under the cap, including the david harris franchise tender. there is no way david harris will make 10million a year. so the jets will save 3-5million on him there.

yep, excpet both are NOT winning the superbowl

31 teams experience that every season. That doesn't make 0-16 the same as 14-2.

what does 42 years of NOTHING make?

Damn, guess so. Jets get 1.8 back for Jenkins, 5.8 back for Gholston, and 1 back for Woody, so about $8.6M more space. Still in a pretty bad situation, though.
They didnt eat 5.8 mill on Gholston.
