DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION **The official Day 3 Patriots Draft Thread**

Couple things:

1) Ridley won't play gunner. If anyone in this draft will play there it's Dowling.
2) Great pick with the TE. I've watched a bit of him and he is just beastly. He's a big ole ass kickin country boy. Violent, powerful, great hand technique, quick enough to reach LB's and 9 techniques on the outside. With the NE TE's doing a lot of fullback in this scheme he's a perfect fit. There's no doubt in my mind that they'll keep 4 TE's on the roster. Great opponent-specific flexibility when picking the 45 man roster.

Isn't it crazy after seeing these guys being picked that Brady went 199?

I was just thinking that

Every year I am amazed at the disgruntled fans here. First of all none of us knows what the blueprint is for the coming season. We don't know who they have targeted when free agency gets here. We only know what we saw last year. I trust Bill and his crew ... I am 100% certain I could not do a better job.
The same blue print that has given us some of the worst 3rd down defenses in the league the last few years? What exactly was the defensive blue print last year?

You need to make a choice.

-Have Brady put up 4k yards in 500 attempts, 30+ TDs for 2 more years

or....

-Have Brady put up 3k yards in 400 att, 20 TDs for 4-5 more years

You can't have both.

See Denver Broncos 1997-1998. There is nothing wrong with a HoF QB at the end of his career handing the ball off 35 times a game and winning a SB MVP at 38 years old.

Excellent! I love this post!

Sssssssssssh. Blueprint safely stored in the coconut of some guy with initials BB.

One could only hope the boo birds here might relax and think about your posts - they might even learn something.

There are still 4 OLB's on my list to take. Herzlich, Beal, Matthew (SC), and Romeus.

I've added McPhee from my official, "He can convert to the 3-4".

Like I know

BB is getting weird. Swapped 193/194 with Philly.

It was a sarcastic comment about Ridley as a gunner. Someone used his special teams ability as a gunner to justify the pick in the thread yesterday which I thought was humorous

The biggest problem with this draft is that Tom Brady is going to need a Ladder to see over this OL in another year or two.

.... Mallet won't though.

Schefter tweets
"Fact of the day: Pats just traded No. 193 to Eagles for No. 194. Their streak of a draft day trade each year since 2000 lives another year."

LOL

That's actually hilarious if they traded just to keep the streak alive.

What did they pick up. A 4th in 2019?

You sure about that? Pats won Superbowls when their main weapon was the run. Names like Antowain Smith and Corey Dillon ring a bell?

Pats scored prodigious amounts of Points through the Air in 2007 and 2010, yet had zero Superbowl trophies as a result of it.

Pats draft focus this year is clear - Get Big and Nasty on Offense. Pound the football in 2011. An effective running game will also make the Play Action that much more effective for Tom Brady.

I agree with u here on your assumption of BB's mindset on the offense....but let's just hope we have the DEFENSE to keep the other teams O in check.....last year we were 28th I believe in total defense. Since we have made only one addition to the D in the CB added (sorry don't see stroud as being overly explosive) ...what we had last year...is what we get this year. Although our defense made huge strides last year...Cunningham is a ?....ninko....banta Cain are your OLBs...and we have NO TRUE PASS RUSHERS!!...that is the primary issue that concerns me...

Which team has had more success in the last 10 years ...

Hahahahaha, BB just having fun now. He just traded 194 to the Eagles for 193..........

STRAIGHT UP.......

Reiss is tweeting that Lee Smith has ability as a longsnapper. Don't know if he'd be NFL legit in that slot, but if he is good enough that would be a good use of that roster spot: LS & TE.

OT: Sorry I just have to say this...I'm going to go insane if the NFL Network doesn't stop playing the same commercials over and over and over and over and over......................
