Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

We have the ammo to do so. Also, That top 10 first round pick by the raiders we get i am sure that BB is going to trade out of the top 10 to pick up a later 1st and another 2nd.

Agreed. Do it. Do it for me!

Irrelevant. He's, what, 33? Same age as Brady. Today is his "down the line." He's looking for one more big bucks contract and trying to maximize its value.

So how long of an extension are you willing to give this 33 year old receiver? An extra year? He'll be complaining this time next year. An extra two? We'll have a (hopefully still productive) 35 year old feeling unwanted and underpaid.

Why does all of that feel like fiddling while Rome is burning to me? We have possibly the greatest QB ever to lace 'em up playing for us. He's 33. Trading out for picks that will come to value in two or three years isn't what we need at this time, as good a strategy as it might usually be. The Future is now.

I'd leave it to BB to work out the details, but I think three years heavily laden with incentives in years two and three would get it done.

:( :( :( "Moss is going away!! What EVER will we DO???" :( :( :(

I swear: A solid 80% of you are CLUELESS.

I believe that Moss was never going to get resigned. Based on the current team, the pats simply need to get out of the quick-strike mentality and return to 3 yards and a cloud of dust in order to keep the defense off the field for longer periods of time. There will still be plenty of opportunities for brady to justify his contract.

We could have had that "3 yards and a cloud of dust" mentality while still having the quick strike threat, Moss, on the team. Having Moss on the team certainly hasn't stopped the dink and dunk approach this season.

I think the moss move has been a concept for awhile now. I think the rookie TE's have progressed faster than planned.

Gronk is primarily a blocker, but Hernandez has progressed. I don't think the move has been in the works for a while, personally. If that had been the case, it wouldn't have taken until Week 5 to pull the trigger.

I also think this move really completes taking the 'I' out of team. Not that Moss has not been a model citizen as I believe he turned out better than any of us anticipated, but it is time to get back to spreading the ball around.

Again, this is something we can do (and have done) with Moss on the team.

the other part of this question was 'how much more pounding can welker take with the way the current offense was designed?'

He better get ready to take more, because he's definitely going to be keyed on a lot more now.

they will have 2 weeks to get back to a dink and dunk offense that will be much more dynamic than the last one given the abilities of our young TE's

The dink and dunk attack never disappeared with Moss in there. As for the TE's, we're going to need to use Gronk in more of pass catching role now.

Alright. But, i still doubt that Tom Brady is a happy camper with this.

That's one of the biggest reasons why I am against this trade.

It must be great to be the only one with a clue. Sure, when everyone else disagrees with you they must be wrong.

Thank the gods Brady has already signed his new contract.

The 2 Ints that Brady has this season is because he was favoring Moss. We will be seeing the Patriots spread the ball around more. It is shocking that moss is being traded, but it is what it is. Lets move on and concentrate on Baltimore.

I was the one who traded Randy Moss ...right after I bought the Patriots for a stripper I met while circumnavigating the globe in my personal watercraft inside a hot air balloon disguised as a cardboard box..yeah...THAT'S THE TICKET!

Yeah, and how many of the TDs thrown were either to Moss or to others that Moss cleared the way for. Remember Hernandez's huge receptions in week one? That was all Moss.

Anyway, I'm not involved in making the gameplan for Baltimore. I have plenty of time to freak out like an idiot over this.

Those of you who ~ the vast majority, including some smart folks ~ who don't think this move is a step in the right direction...haven't been paying much attention to the last 90 years of NFL History.

Sad to say, but losing Moss makes us a better team.

Any Draft Pick(s) we pick up are just gravy.

Moss' stay here was coming to an end sooner or later. He's 33 and was unlikely to get an extension. Ofcourse we'd be better off with him than without him for the rest of the way (apart from when we try to force it to him) but just like the Seymour deal and others it's clear this team will look to get any value they can.

Makes sense from a business point of view, the only real question his who fills his spot.

How the **** is this ok?

We have NOBODY to replace Moss. If we trade Moss for a ******* 3rd rounder...I give up on BB, he's an idiot.

How in gods name, do you receive equal value for a 3rd rounder? If we come uip just short this season, due to a lack of playmakers on O, BB is going to be crucified if he costs this team a SB. There is NO reason to release Moss unless it's a steal. Moss gives the team the best chance to win now and better than a 3rd rounder will in the future. If you people think Moss for a 3rd rounder isn't a total joke for NE, then I don't know what to tell you.

We have NO deep threat on this team. Tate has been an absolute joke as a WR this year. He has not been a deep threat like we needed, and he will do NOTHING to make us forget Moss. If we leave our 33 yr old QB out to dry, and cost us ANOTHER championship, than I don't know what else to say.

People thinking Moss gone will make us better are idiots. This team NEEDS him, it's designed for him. No one else is making the same effect on this team without Moss. Unless we find a miracle, our season's ****ed because We'll have no big play threat.

Move on? On this board?

Ross for a 3rd? Or could we say Moss for Shawn Crable! Moss for Tyrone Mckenzie! For Brandon Tate! Kevin O'Connell, David Thomas, Nick Kaczur, Ellis Hobbs! I think I am going to get sick.

Yup. The last few seasons we've made bad moves, but this is stupid. I understand getting something for him before he's gone. We have a whole season left. Unless you find a ******* HOF WR, you're not replacing Moss. Moss can bring THIS team a title THIS year, no 3rd rounder is probably ever going to do that for this team. Absolutely devastating move. I don't care whart some of you yes men say about it, this move will hurt this offense so bad.

If BB moves Moss, and this seasons flames out like it probably will, I hope he's run out of town. No coach is immortal. But to continue to make such stupid ******* moves is maddening. Let me put it like this to folks one last time.

BRADY IS 33, 33. I REPEAT, 33. You win NOW, not 3 goddamn years from now, and not without your HOF QB who in 3 years will also be done unless we're very lucky. But hey, Moss for a 3rd rounder? Maybe this 3rd rounder might get on the field? Woohoo!

If I told you people we just traded Moss for Ellis Hobbs, Shawn Crable, what would you say ? We could have very possibly done that. Man. What a way to ruin this team after a great win, this is such a ****ty day to be a Patriot fan.

How does losing Moss, make this a better team??? Do you really think that? Welker's sucess can be tied directly to Moss, ditto for Hernandez. Moss gets double covered, Miami was double covering both Moss and Welker at times, rushing 2 guys, that is exactly the defense you are going to see with Moss gone! They will double Welker, and zone up the rest. Now of course, without the deep threat, teams can now blitz Brady at will! This move is puzzling at best. There is no way this team is "Better" without Moss!

I really am, man. It feels kinda good and bad all at once. Also, I'm drunk.

Good observation. PatJew's impeccable composure gets on my nerves sometimes.

Grid, you annoy me most of the time and I guess you're about 15 years old, but that needle of PatJew was right on the mark. Now, no gloating. Just take the compliment.
