Patriots Player Departure Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

The 2 Ints that Brady has this season is because he was favoring Moss. We will be seeing the Patriots spread the ball around more. It is shocking that moss is being traded, but it is what it is. Lets move on and concentrate on Baltimore.

Concur, sir.

It's disappointing, but the fact is that Brady ~ who is without PEER, thank you ~ is still imperfect enough to fall for the allure of Moss's skills, as Coach Bill was, in the first place, when he finally agreed to take Randy on, back in 2007.

Coach Bill's off season intransigence to Randy signaled that he was getting back to basics: Ball Control and Tenacious D.

We're not there, yet, but we're WELL on the way...And jettisoning Moss, REGARDLESS of what we get for him, is an INTEGRAL part of that Process.

Wisely and Boldly DONE, Brother Belichick!! :rocker:

Move on? On this board?

Ok dwell on it a little bit, but if moss is gone he is gone(im not saying you in particular is complaining about this). We won 3 superbowls without Moss and 0 superbowls with him. We got him for a 4th and we are trading him for a 3rd. Thats value there. I still have a feeling there is more to do this trade than just a 3rd. Maybe the Vikings will trade for Vincent Jackson and we trade Moss for Jackson because if the chargers wont trade Jackson to another AFC team then the Vikings can trade for him and give us Jackson and we give them Moss. Worth a thought :confused2:

Those of you who ~ the vast majority, including some smart folks ~ who don't think this move is a step in the right direction...haven't been paying much attention to the last 90 years of NFL History.

Sad to say, but losing Moss makes us a better team.

Any Draft Pick(s) we pick up are just gravy.

There is no way that losing Moss makes us a better team. Sorry.

I really am, man. It feels kinda good and bad all at once. Also, I'm drunk.

sometimes i feel if iam investing too much into the team time and emotionwise...its just sports but...

We could have had that "3 yards and a cloud of dust" mentality while still having the quick strike threat, Moss, on the team. Having Moss on the team certainly hasn't stopped the dink and dunk approach this season..

only in theory. in practice, you will have a brooding WR in his contract year.

Gronk is primarily a blocker, but Hernandez has progressed. I don't think the move has been in the works for a while, personally. If that had been the case, it wouldn't have taken until Week 5 to pull the trigger.

gronk is a also a pass catching option.

what I meant in terms of a move being in the works for awhile is that I think they knew moss was gone after this year and were treating it that way.

Again, this is something we can do (and have done) with Moss on the team..

until his attitude reappears on the TV. until he appears to dog it on another play. the young guys on the team don't need that.

He better get ready to take more, because he's definitely going to be keyed on a lot more now..

not really. he will be keyed on alot more which will open things up for other options.

The dink and dunk attack never disappeared with Moss in there. As for the TE's, we're going to need to use Gronk in more of pass catching role now..

the dink and dunk disappeared the moment he showed up. I think getting all of the young guys more involved benefits this team.

That's one of the biggest reasons why I am against this trade.

brady got what he wanted which was the biggest contract in the history of the NFL (for now anyway). This gives him a chance to earn it rather than counting on lobbing it up to moss which seems to work less and less.

who knows, maybe moss has lost enough to not be the difference maker he once was.

Nah, I think you're thinking too deeply into it. Moss getting traded is Moss getting traded, no more or less. IMHO, if we're going to get Jackson, we do it a couple weeks ago and let him get acclimated. But hey, if we end up with Jackson I'll be happy.

How the **** is this ok?

We have NOBODY to replace Moss. If we trade Moss for a ******* 3rd rounder...I give up on BB, he's an idiot.

How in gods name, do you receive equal value for a 3rd rounder? If we come uip just short this season, due to a lack of playmakers on O, BB is going to be crucified if he costs this team a SB. There is NO reason to release Moss unless it's a steal. Moss gives the team the best chance to win now and better than a 3rd rounder will in the future. If you people think Moss for a 3rd rounder isn't a total joke for NE, then I don't know what to tell you.

We have NO deep threat on this team. Tate has been an absolute joke as a WR this year. He has not been a deep threat like we needed, and he will do NOTHING to make us forget Moss. If we leave our 33 yr old QB out to dry, and cost us ANOTHER championship, than I don't know what else to say.

People thinking Moss gone will make us better are idiots. This team NEEDS him, it's designed for him. No one else is making the same effect on this team without Moss. Unless we find a miracle, our season's ****ed because We'll have no big play threat.

"Oh, Randy!! RAAAANDY!!!

Good observation. PatJew's impeccable composure gets on my nerves sometimes.

Grid, you annoy me most of the time and I guess you're about 15 years old, but that needle of PatJew was right on the mark. Now, no gloating. Just take the compliment.

That's actually pretty funny.

How does losing Moss, make this a better team??? Do you really think that? Welker's sucess can be tied directly to Moss, ditto for Hernandez. Moss gets double covered, Miami was double covering both Moss and Welker at times, rushing 2 guys, that is exactly the defense you are going to see with Moss gone! They will double Welker, and zone up the rest. Now of course, without the deep threat, teams can now blitz Brady at will! This move is puzzling at best. There is no way this team is "Better" without Moss!

Sir, for your answer, I refer you to my Signature:

You guys are the two ends of the spectrum, and the truth lies in between. Belichick SHOULD be questioned, but not run out of town. But saying "This will work out excellent and needed to be done" is also incorrect.

I believe that Moss was never going to get resigned. Based on the current team, the pats simply need to get out of the quick-strike mentality and return to 3 yards and a cloud of dust in order to keep the defense off the field for longer periods of time. There will still be plenty of opportunities for brady to justify his contract.

I think the moss move has been a concept for awhile now. I think the rookie TE's have progressed faster than planned.

I also think this move really completes taking the 'I' out of team. Not that Moss has not been a model citizen as I believe he turned out better than any of us anticipated, but it is time to get back to spreading the ball around.

the other part of this question was 'how much more pounding can welker take with the way the current offense was designed?'

they will have 2 weeks to get back to a dink and dunk offense that will be much more dynamic than the last one given the abilities of our young TE's

By the way, this was an exceptional post.

Hello, Wes Welker!!!

Brady's YPC since after 2001 has been top of the league just behind Manning.

No gloating, sir: As you've seen, Brother Pat took it as it was meant, and with his usual aplomb.

And: thanks.

By the way: you're a bit off in the age estimate, but I certainly take it as a compliment...as I do, the reference to my usually annoying you, though in all honesty, that is not usually my intent!!

Wht has given you the impression that having Moss on the team would have hurt the young guys? I don't discount the possibility that things went south with him and BB, however there have been no reports of him being a negative influence in the locker room with his mouth. Supposedly, he was pretty happy after the Dolphins game.

gronk is a also a pass catching option.

Understood, but he hasn't been used mainly in that capacity yet. With how much more pressure Brady is going to see from opposing defenses, and with how much we're going to need to run the ball, I don't see much if any change in that.

what I meant in terms of a move being in the works for awhile is that I think they knew moss was gone after this year and were treating it that way.

Most fans had a feeling that Moss was going to be gone after 2010. Wendy the ****** from the Howard Stern Show could have told you that. However, having Moss on the team THIS YEAR, with the defense the way it is, and with the offense also being young, without having a potent running game and an offensive line that struggles at times in run blocking, was of the biggest importance. You don't improve over the course of a season by getting rid of the second best player on your team.

until his attitude reappears on the TV. until he appears to dog it on another play. the young guys on the team don't need that.

Again, I haven't seen anything during the games that would lead me to suggest that he had an attitude. It's possible that it happened behind the scenes. If that were the case, I wouldn't necessarily agree with the move, but I would understand it a bit more. However, I didn't see anything during the games (or in footage after the games for that matter) that would suggest Moss dogging it or giving an attitude.

not really. he will be keyed on alot more which will open things up for other options.

Hilariously enough, Moss did the same thing. As a matter of fact, Moss and Welker together drawing double coverage directly opened things up for the Woodhead TD the other night. Now we're trading away one of those guys for a third rounder.

the dink and dunk disappeared the moment he showed up. I think getting all of the young guys more involved benefits this team.

No, it really didn't. I've read your posts and you're normally better than this. But if the dink and dunk disappeared, that would mean that we have been going ONLY for the intermediate and deep routes at all times. That just isn't, and hasn't been, the case.

brady got what he wanted which was the biggest contract in the history of the NFL (for now anyway). This gives him a chance to earn it rather than counting on lobbing it up to moss which seems to work less and less.

He's really going to need to earn it now, what with defenses now keying in on his favorite receiver with their best CB and a safety.

who knows, maybe moss has lost enough to not be the difference maker he once was.

He's lost a step. I won't debate that. But he's still one of the premier deep threats in the league. You should also remember that people in Oakland thought he lost it completely before he came here. How did that turn out?

That's actually pretty funny.

Yeah, then I pace around the room feeling guilty for sayin' it. I go,"What typa jerky am I that I gotta needle my fellow Pats fan today, of all days. One all the way in China, no less. Yeah, after he's been expressing all the same things I'm feeling this morning? I must really be a freakin' meanie."

That said, PatJew, ya are kinda stiff sometimes.

Well, that's it outta me this morning. My keyboard is all screwy & defective. Notice, I AM less longwinded than usual. ima sure yer happy 'bout that. I deserve it sometimes tho.
