Asomugha might not line up on the #1 receiver all the time, but that's not exactly up to him. I'm sure he'd do it if he was asked to, the fact that he can do anything with Crazy Al's picks of coaches is incredible.

If Asomugha was thrown at 28 times and Revis was thrown at 111 times, QB ratings can be very deceiving. For example in that scenario, if both only gave up one INT and broke up all other passes thrown their direction, Revis' opposing QBs would have a far lower passer rating than Asomugha's eventhough they had the same amount of INTs and both broke up every other pass because Revis was only intercepted once every 111 passes while Asomugha was intercepted once every 28 passes.

Well, he SHOULD follow the best opposing receiver around the field given his ability. Maybe he feels comfortable on his side of the field.

Revis is 24 years old and he's already had 2 elite seasons. By saying that he has to have had a bunch more elite seasons, you're literally saying "because he's 24, he can't be great". Are you really comfortable with claiming that 24 year olds are incapable of being elite football players, or would you maybe like to rethink your position a little?

Absolutely not. What I am saying is Revis needs to perform over the entirety of his career not just a couple of seasons. He's a marvelous talent who has had a super impressive start to his career but he's hardly Champ Bailey, Deion Sanders, Mel Blount yet! He has time on his side and that's what my comment is directed at.

People sit down and whack themselves at small bodies of work. Champions have large bodies of work. Revis is building himself that large body of work.

Um no he doesnt. Revis had three times the opportunities last season than Asamugha had. And considering the jets D got to the QB quicker than any defense in league last year, opposing QB rating will be down as they are forced to throw the ball before they would like.

I agree with you that he should, but at the same time he may be bottle necked on his match ups via play calling by the geniuses at Oakland. Can't fault him at that really.

I fixed it. I meant TDs given up which weighes the most on QB ratings. It isn't really confusing, when you compare players with two very different sample sizes you can't compare the stats evenly. If you have a RB who averages 8 yards a carry, but only has 100 carries a season and another one who averages 5 yard a carry and rushes 300 times a season; you can't argue the RB with 8 yards per carry is better because he rushes for more yards every carry.

Even if Revis is better, the stats you gave are very misleading because opposing QBs passed at Revis almost four times as often. You need more information to qualify the stat you gave. It's simple statistics that you cannot compare results from two different sample sizes without weighting the results to get a proper comparison.

See, I can't take you seriously when you make statements like the bolded one. The Jets pass rush was NOT good at all. As I said earlier, it was extremely hard for this Jets defense to generate any sort of pass rush without blitzing a lot of men.

And again, Revis had more "opportunities" because QB's are eventually forced to throw to their best target. And even with all those opportunities, he still shut everyone down. < 40 passer rating against. That is awful for a QB.

How much of a homer do you honestly have to be to not recognize the historic season Revis had last year?

The question is how much of a homer do YOU have to be to think that Revis had one of the best 5 seasons a corner ever had.
I can name 5 guys who had MANY seasons better than Revis had last year without even thinking about it, Deion Sanders, Champ Bailey, Mike Haynes, Darrell Green, Lester Hayes, and I havent even scratched the surface of the Hall of Fame.

Not true. If both guys gave up only one TD and were perfect in every other way, Asomugha's opposing QBs would have a much better passer rating.

I will dumb this down for you. You have a coin flip contest between two people and one person is allowed to flip it twice and the other person is allowed to flip it 100 times and the person who gets most heads percentagewise will win. If both persons only flip tails once, the guy who flips 100 times would win by a landslide 99% to 50%. Does that mean the guy who flipped 100 times was far better at not flipping tails or was it that the guy with two flips didn't have the opportunity to prove otherwise. Or say the guy who flips 100 times flips tails 16 times. He still wins 86% to 50%.

Again, you are comparing two very different sample sizes without weighted numbers to compare apples to apples. If you did in this case, Revis could come out on top. But without even knowing how the numbers breakdown in terms of INTs, TDs allowed, and passes complete; there is absolutely no way of knowing it. A weighted measure could even strengthen your point or blow it out of the water.

Revis shut down every receiver he faced, got interceptions, and led the #1 passing defense. It was one of the best ever by a corner back. That has nothing to do with me, its just the facts.
