OT: Brandon Marshall to Miami for 2010 2nd and 2011 2nd

Except Boldin wanted a long term deal and someone was willing to give it to him. The Pats had no shot at him without a long term deal and you didn't even want the guy.

I know that, I was saying that if Boldin was willing to take a one year deal I would have wanted to see the Pats give him a shot.

It'll be interesting to see if Marshall can control himself in a city like Miami.. Denver's night scene doesn't even compare. But if he works out, grade trade for Miami. He's quite the talent.

Also: I think Miami is scarier than the Jets.

Well, you are acting like its a bad thing that he plays the game so hard. Because of the way Tebow plays the game does that decrease his value because he is more likely to get a season or career ending injury than someone that doesnt play the game as hard? If a player that plays the game hard suffers a season/career ending injury then so be it, it happens, its football. Rodney Harrison perfect example. It isnt going to necessarily effect the way a team views a player, normally teams what a player that plays the game with emotion and heart.

Actually Galloway got a one year deal. Bodden got a one year deal. Burgess was a one year deal. Like I said there are exceptions where FA do get multi year deals, but as a general principal and rule of thumb the Pats FO usually signs FA's to one year deals in order for them to prove themselves

Yeah the season is still 5 months away but still Patriots fans and the FO need to recognize how much better the Jets and the Dolphins have gotten this off season and the Pats have a lot of ground to make up. I am not saying it isnt possible, but many signings and impact draft picks need to be made.
I dont want to jump in the middle, but apparently I am.
But would you want Bob Sanders? The way he plays the game is what keeps him from being able to play it.
I get your point but if you play like you are 250lbs when you are 195, you aren't going to be very valuable in the long run.

His Rodney Harrison comparison wipes out your argument.

We want guys that play like that.

Exactly. You want guys that play like that, that is something you cant teach. These kinds of players are actually very hard to come by in today's day in age and I think the Patriots have a good amount of them on their roster. This is something BB and staff value very high.

How does Rodney Harrison wipe out the fact that some players play in a manner that makes them injured all the time?
Are you saying you want Bob Sanders?

Not reckless players that are always injured.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing, isn't it?

Are you saying you wouldn't have taken Bob Sanders before he was injured because he was an injury waiting to happen?

I disagree. And to answer your question about if I'd want Bob Sanders of course I would. How couldnt you want arguably one of the best safeties in the game? I dont think the people that are saying Boldin and Sanders play "reckless" have ever played sports before. That's how the way they play the game, the way it is meant to be played. Why would you want to change that?

Agreed - its Golden Tate in the second...I have a big feeling about that kid

I expect a DT in round 1

but I don't know, Jack says we have Damione Lewis to carry us to the SB and he looked up all this hoopla and good things about him at the Panthers Messageboard so maybe we don't need one so bad

Why Tate?
Slot WR who runs weak routes. It's mind boggling the WR picks are all flawed.

I have said this before and I will say it again. Steve Smith of the Panthers for #53. If BB and Cesario are busy, I can call and find out?

Good night life in Miami, hope he partakes to the max.

Same here. I don't condone violence against women, but I sure do hope that he slaps the taste out of his wife/baby mama's mouth as soon as the plane lands in Miami.

Re: Brandon Marshall to Miami

"The Fish can't win the pennant this late in the game, it's still the Jest's pennant," said Greg Aiello from the League offices in New York.

I doubt they could pay him past 2010, unless you bank on the moss departure, and you can get a pretty good 5 yr guy at 53.

also, what makes you think the panthers would cut him loose for just the 53rd?

I'm surprised that in the 270+ posts in this thread, there's been no mention (I could find) of the $47.5 million dollar mega-contract Marshall got from Miami, with $24 of it guaranteed, and $29 over the first three years.

Having to shell out that much on top of the two 2nd rounders makes this deal look less appealing from the Miami side.

That's a lot of guaranteed money for a receiver who so far seems to have seen T.O.'s diva attitude, and raised him a dozen incidents of domestic violence.

Madden 2010.

I'm saying I don't want injury prone players who miss half the season no matter how good they are.
That is what the discussion is about, right?Players who's style of play leads to being injured often?

So we can land the next great Receiver to our arsenal, in RD 2, just like um Bethel Johnson, Chad Jackson, or get us another rental TE who can run 4.3 40 but will never be used, Ben Watson....or get another LoMo RB clone....or find the next stout DL like um Marquise Hill, Ron Brace. Yea, those Rd 1-2 picks last few years have really panned out well !

Better yet, Pats can trade the 2 Rd's for a 2012 Rd #1 pick, and then in 2012 can trade that Rd #1 for 2 Rd 2's in 2013.

Yawn......Obviously the "Win Now" mentality has left Foxboro FO, and in 3 yrs so will the fans once Brady and crew are history.

yeah big time busts like vollmer and butler and chung but yeah skip all the picks that worked out to suit your theory. Maybe we'll land a receiver in the 2nd like jackson of philly or a rb like ray rice in the 2nd... mate all we can do is put the team in a possition for future success. Only move that i have not been happy with has been not getting boldin after seeing the price they payed for him. Other than that i am sure you were a peppers, dansby guy hey? don't worry about the cap or the teams future... you have to succeed now

I'm saying I woldn't want Bob Sanders because he is good for about 6 games a year.
I agree with your comment about reckless, it was a poor choice of words. But those players just can't hold up to the demands of their positions.
Yes, I'd want players to play with Sanders attitude, but I would not want Sanders because he is fragile.
