OT: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

Yah, the Yensen Toilet Bowl. USENET brings back fond memories of the 90s

Funny, in 2007 when the Pats brought in a "washed up" Randy Moss (who many thought would cause trouble in the locker room)..."stupidly" (as was siad by rival teams fans) gave up a second round pick for Wes Welker, brought in a washed up Kyle Brady and gave AD a huge contract, none of you homers were saying the same type of crap about our team winning the "offseason superbowl".

This board has the largest homer concetration on the web.

Give the Jets some credit for doing everything they can to get better. It's going to be funny when half you homers are choking on your own words by mid season.

LT is no good, Shone Green is no good, Cromartie sucks, Holmes stinks and will ruin the locker room, Sanchez is horrid - etc - etc

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

The more rabid Patriots homers are in a sad state right now. They used to be able to ignore the doubters, because the team was so very good. Anything negative could be answered with some variant of "scoreboard!". That's no longer the case. They ignored all signs of problems, so this is a shocking new development for them. They defended every move by BB, so every problem is a player problem (overlooking, of course, that BB was the one acquiring the players). They're still trying to deal with it by just calling out anyone who questions the team, rather than admitting to the problems. Hell, some of them still defend the Burgess trade.

Today, it's not just the lunatic fringe that is questioning the team and pointing out problems. It's rational people, former 'homers', and the team front office itself coming public with admissions of problems. It's team members, and the more accepting reporters (SMY, MR, etc...). Those rabid homers are now sticking their fingers in their ears and singing "La La La! I'm not listening". Everything is overvalued if it's from NE, and completely diminished if it's from anywhere else:

Cromartie's a stiff who can't play, but Lewis is going to make the transition to 3-4 DE and really anchor the line.

Keller is overrated and not that good, but 54 year old and 765 pound Crumpler just might be the best tight end in the history of the universe.

Greene is overrated and LdT is done, but Fred Taylor will be back strong, Morris will be a monster, and BJGE is an All Pro just waiting for his opportunity.

Then, on the flip side, you've got those who've panicked in the opposite direction and are doing things like already predicting the Patriots to go .500 or less for the season.

Welcome to this year's offseason here at Patsfans.com.....

Well the question is (and no fence sitting allowed) what side do you paddle on?

Well the question is, anddon't be a fence sitter here, what side do you lean toward?

It has nothing to do with fence sitting. If you don't think the team's falling apart and heading for near-certain doom, and you don't think everything is all unicorns and singing rainbows, it's possible to not be in either group . In fact, that's where most fans, including myself, fall.

You need to read a few more team forums before making the bolded claim you have.

Re: Steelers ship Santonio to the Jets

...HOMERS. Homles for a fifth is a good move for the Jets.

And a smart move for Steelers to trade Holmes to a rival of either the Pats, Colts or Chargers.

Santonio Holmes
-Current lawsuit against (Throwing glass at woman at nightclub, cutting eye)
-Arrested for disorderly conduct (Paid fine)
-Arrested for domestic violence & assault
-Arrested for marijuana possession
-Self-admitted former drug dealer
-Recent Tweets ("kill urself" & "time to wake n bake)
-Suspended for first 4 games of 2010 season

Antonio Cromartie
-7 children (5 different women)
-Paternity suits (At least 5 in last 2 years)
-$25,000 in arrears in child support.
-Several traffic tickets. (Failed to show up in court more than once)

Braylon Edwards
-Arrested for assault (Suspended jail sentence, fined)

Jets are building a fine locker room of quality men, the character on this team is going to be great.

Whilst it might be up there, it's not the worst.

It's not even 'up there'. There are a host of sites that are of a far more homeristic bent than Patsfans.com.

Thanks for proving my point and telling me what I should think.
I proved a point that illustrated your incorrect opinion? That makes perfect sense doesn't it. Continue in your own bubble if you choose too, but don't blame people who don't.

I don't disagree with that comment Deus Irae. However at times this forum does have the potential to outweigh some of the other forums.

My opinion is not incorrect. See friend, homers like you think all things Pats = perfect, even the web forum, HA-HA.

Hmmm........ given that ausbacker stated

Perhaps a suggestion is in order here, Mr. BostonPatriot:

=======================================================

I agree character does matter, and all 3 that you listed are legitamate concerns. It's a risk reward thing.

And you left out all there good atributes, I have heard nothing about Edwards being a problem since he hit NY, on or off the field.

Cromartie and Holmes I don't know much about before they became Jets other then that Holmes is a Patriot killer and Cromartie picked multiple Farve passes.

But I have been looking into them. And did find that Cromartie does not owe any back child support as of becoming a Jet, but he has obviously been immature idiot in the past x 7.
The risk Vs reward is 50/50 that he becomes the CB the Jets are looking for or soft stupid distracted immature idiot. A Late 3rd round pick for a great #2 or a bust, Dollars do not play in to this the money is reasonable.

Holmes for 12 games and a 5th, we'll see. I can't imagine this guy is going to blow his fresh start and it's his contract year. I expect good things from him, we'll see.

Braylon for a 3rd and a jag and a decent slot receiver, I think the Jets did OK on this deal, he has not lit it up but he really has helped open the running game, and he blocks. Not a bust, but not exceptionally high value either. I like this guy a lot.

Where was any of this said? Do you get off on being a jagoff calling everyone who doesn't ball walsh the rest of the NFL in particular the Jets a homer?

Have you watched football in a while? LT is not any good and hasn't been in a few years. He is done and come November he won't even get up off the bench when playing in the cold, he will have some sort of phantom injury.

Cromartie has done jack **** the past two seasons other than make babies. Hell, I think he has more kids than Int's the past two years. I like Shonne Green loved him coming out of college but he has yet to be the man and with LT in the shadows that won't be an easy task.

And as far as Sanchez goes 53.8% Comp for 2,444 yards 12 TD and 20 Int's is pretty bad! Especially when you consider they were playing 8 man fronts the majority of the time
