Desi Cullen update - JSOnline
For those of you keeping tabs on UConn punter Desi Cullen who's been keeping his pre-draft diary here at Railbird Central, he has three private workouts scheduled for this week with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots.

I sent Matt a question asking him whether the meeting was on-Campus or whether it was in Foxboro - he hasn't replied.

NE Pats Draft is reporting it as a PW though.
That's how I'd have interpreted it.

He's obviously part of that - thanks for the reminder - but he's also 32. Brace and Grady are going to get a chance to prove themselves in Training Camp, perhaps Brace wasn't adjusting to 0-tech as well as he could. It looks to me like BB and his defensive gurus made a decision to revamp the defense, they took the results of the post-season analysis and started writing new concepts for the D, then plugged it into the available talent pool.

Dan Williams and Brian Price getting invites to Gillette came out about the same time Lewis would have been contacted. Cam would fit at 3-4 NT or DE with his length, most of the later round projections are similar (Woods, Peters, Weston) or pluggers who fit a Pryor-like profile.

Hmmmm. Hmmmm. Go on....

Pair of UConn prospects lining up visits | National Football Post
[cornerback Robert] McClain, who is also getting substantial interest from special teams coaches as a punt returner, will work out for the Indianapolis Colts today. He worked out for the San Francisco 49ers on Monday. On Wednesday, he will work out for special teams coaches from New England and Philadelphia at the same time. The Patriots already had an on-campus visit with McClain.
That's a threefer, APD, MC, & PW

he will work out for special teams coaches from New England

Seems bizarre, I know special teams are important but why send a special teams coach to scout a top 15 pick. He is a ILB, my nature he will play special teams (along with starting at ILB). More bizarre is a team working him out as a returner...

Strange days...

You got the wrong McClain dude

Those McClain boys all look alike.

Robert McClain, not Rolando.

Nah, it's those damned Scots/Irishers running around stirring things up. I can't figure out if McCoy plays TE, DT, or QB the way that squirrel runs around the tree! You just ran into the McClain quandary. 'Tis the curse of the Gaelic, and aren't we lucky the Welsh haven't turned up to give us spelling headaches?

Those aren't the only duplicate surnames. I'm guessing somebody will get the two Graham TE's (Jimmy and Garrett) confused on draft day. Then you have the four Williams WRs: Damian, Jeremy, Mike and Kyle. Put them together with T Trent and DT Dan, and a team could almost limit itself to drafting players named Williams.

OK, let's make it clear right now: zero credit in the draft contest for just writing "Williams."

I had that exact thought last week. The Pats don't need jags in this draft.

Dominique Franks...cb...Oklahoma on NFL Sirius right now. Said he has met with the Pats and had 1 .5 hours in the film room and about a half hour on the field. Sorry if this info has already been posted.

He said the Patriots expected him to transfer everything they talked about in the film room/classroom to transfer righ to his workout.

Another punter: Desi Cullen of Louisville.
I would think the interest would be as an UDFA rather than a draft pick.
It Is What It Is Source: Patriots will work out UConn punter Cullen
The Patriots are going to hold a private workout with Connecticut punter Desi Cullen Wednesday in Hartford, according to a league source.

Cullen, a 23-year-old out of Louisville, averaged 42.8 yards per punt this past season (good 28th in the country). A 6-foot, 201-pounder, he’s best described as a combo guy who can punt (he was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award), handle kickoff duties for the Huskies, as well as hold for field goals and kick some long field goals.

What's the maximum number of workouts and visits again?
I would think the Pats must be close to that number at this point.
