Official Pats/Texans post-game thread

Wilfork doesn't play because he's banged up but the franchsie Tom Brady is in then out then in then out in a meaningless game.
Just bizarre and flat out stupid to put Brady at risk against a good defensive front like the Texans. Just dumb to risk Brady after risking and losing Welker

they won't...they don't get the concept of meaningless

I should start a list with the names of the people who don't understand what "meaningless" means.

Anything can happen. I'm happy they're in the playoffs. Today's game was meaningless, and Welker's injury could have happened at practice. Plus they get back Warren and Wilfork next week.

I like Edelman (sp?) as a Welker clone, and I think the TE's can get more involved. If Brady can avoid the Bledsoe moments, and just throw to the open man, good stuff will follow.

Keep the faith, baby!

Not crushed by the loss. If we needed that game we could have won it. Wilfork and Warren didn't play. Several others didn't in the 2nd half. Playcalling is a concern if the offense was trying in the 2nd half. Hopefully they were just trying to get Brady in tune with the Welker-less cast. If they really do call games like that and still stick to the same inept CRAP that lost 4 other games, we're going nowhere.

If it was a meaningless game then why the **** did I see Brady, Moss, Welker who we may have lost for the season, and a whole hell of alot of other starters in during the fourth quarter? Its a playoff beat down that will finally wake your dumb ass up but by then it will be too late, a lot of us other posters have seen this crap before and we know that if we cant hold a fourth quarter lead against the Texans we wont be able to hold down the Chargers or Colts if we get that far. Dont you just love having your Franchise QB geting Beat to **** in a meaningless game? I love having my best wideout tear knee ligaments in a meaningless game.

We just lost our season MVP. This is meaningless??!! Are you kidding me?

Except Welker getting hurt (and I don't blame BB, it was a freak play in the first series) the only thing I can really get concerned about was Jonathan Wilhite. The guy is just consistently NOT getting it done. Hopefully Springs, Bodden, and Butler will be good for the playoffs.

The OL didn't dazzle me either...can they be more inconsistent?

Come on guys we are gonna be the #4 seed! If we can win in the first round at home (were we are undefeated might I add) then we most likely go to Indy (a team in a slump going into the playoffs) if we can win there, then we have momentum going into Cincy or San Diego most likely.

Unless things get better, Manning will shred us like he's done already this year

You cant give these guys that much time back there and then play 10 yards off the recievers

Hopefully we were sandbagging

This was a totally meaningless game. So stop crying about it people!!!!!!!

Shades of Miami in 2006.

You can't have it both ways. If it's a meaningless game, Welker didn't belong in the game and Brady should never have been playing in the 4th quarter, because he'd clearly gotten enough work with Edelman in the 3rd quarter. No matter how you try justifying things, you can't cover every decision made today.

Poor decisions were clearly made.

Bill looked pissed at press conferenence. He should be and some of it should be self directed.

Completely agree....we can't win on the road. If not for the stupid Neal holding call we probably tie the game on that last drive with Hoyer as the QB....but things didn't happen that way. I've got tickets for next week and are now debating selling them, because I don't want to witness the loss.

please!!!! sell your tickets.....we need Patriot fans not frontrunning crybabies at this playoff game

BS. If it was so meaningless then why was Brady in the game until the final 2 minutes? We just proved that we can't play in the 4th quarter on the road. I guarantee that's how we'll lose in the playoffs. We could have shown some heart for the first time on the road all season, and completely failed.

You know, there could be a lot of truth to that.

It was very very vanilla after it went 27-13, on both sides of the ball. No stunts, no five and dime defensively, and just standard up the middle running and also pretty vanilla passing routes.
Yeah, because NE's defense can really turn it on when they want to.

Worse case scenario happened to us today:

We lose our second most important player on offense.

Our defense couldn't hold anyone when it counted.

Our OL couldn't protect Brady when it counted.

Brady made a horrendous throw in a critical moment (something he's done more this year than he's ever made in his career).

We choke a 4th quarter lead again. Something we've done quite a bit this year.

EDIT: This was not a meaningless game. We could have wrapped up the 3rd seed today if we won. In 06, Indy hosted the AFCCG because they were the 3rd seed and we were the 4th.

LOL??? You think the Broncos and the Jets are going to knock Indy and San Diego out of the playoffs?

Well, good luck to your Pats in the postseason. Looks like my Steelers handled their business, but we'll need a BIG TIME miracle now. Oh well. No one owes us anything, and missing the playoffs is all on the Steelers. Sorry about the Welker injury. Hope it's not as bad as you all expect. Once again, good luck.

Honestly I hope you guys get in. Of course if we end up playing you we are going to get the piss beaten out of us but good luck anyway.

I don't even care about the loss right now there are more important things going on with this team

"Freak" plays are why you rest the players. Excusing BB because the injury was a 'freak' play just makes no sense.

Brady got cruched on that pick. The oline needs to protect Brady better.

i really dont care much about our defense in the 2nd half but our offense scored 1 TD with its starters minus welker and faulk. that is the biggest concern from this game.

Obviously a meaningless game, but let's be honest, even taking that into consideration, if we'd been asked to map out in advance roughly the worst-case scenario for this game, surely that wasn't far off? Huge injury blow with Welker seemingly done for the year and the defense throwing away another double-digit lead, ably assisted by the O drying up late once again.

Meaningless or not, you're crazy if you think confidence won't have taken another big hit after that capitulation. Had no issue with losing that game if we were conserving our starters, and have no issue with maybe ending up with the fourth seed, but not from 14 points up.

P.S. Can people PLEASE stop quoting NEPatriot, it defeats the object of having him on the ignore list. Thanks.

That means nothing for the OL and DL, not when Wilhite, Brace, Alexander etc. are out there.

And the OL was mix and match as well.

These are not the guys you are counting on next week.

Please.
