Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Good when we were trying, which it seemed we stopped doing when we went up by two scores.

That was really rather strange, and the conspiracy theorist in me is bursting to get out.

This was a totally meaningless game. So stop crying about it people!!!!!!!

Shades of Miami in 2006.

Like we said we will be one and done in the playoffs.... But the team is too inconsitant to beat a san diego, or indy... Now we will be with out Wes Welker for the playoffs, and your talking about a Bill O Brien scheme of chuck it to moss and see what happens..

We are a choker. We are not a good road team. There is no hope in the playoff. We are lucky to win the first game at home. After that, it's the end of 09 Pats.

they won't...they don't get the concept of meaningless

Belichick is getting stranger and stranger with his thought process.
Absolutely bizarre handling of personnel. Bizarre!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if the Pats went vanilla in the second half not wanting to reveal too much to a team they may be playing in the first round.

I know we were with out wilfork and warren, but that was some awful tackling, and Ive seen enough of Johnathan Whilhite for the year... Other than that it was a great day... Not...

so you'd rather not be in the playoffs at all then? BTW, change your handle...you are an insult to Patriot fans

Well, good luck to your Pats in the postseason. Looks like my Steelers handled their business, but we'll need a BIG TIME miracle now. Oh well. No one owes us anything, and missing the playoffs is all on the Steelers. Sorry about the Welker injury. Hope it's not as bad as you all expect. Once again, good luck.

Barring Welker which is the real story of the game

We have major issue holding onto Q4 leads. The D starts playing 10 yards off every damn play and the vanilla defense thats run is just manna from heaven for guys like Schaub, Manning etc.

Then when the O gets the ball back we seem to panic and try and force it downfield. Just go back to whats been working (screens, slants etc) and use Taylor in the running game

At the moment, Indy, SD and NO will hand us our butts on a plate

Worse case scenario happened to us today:

We lose our second most important player on offense.

Our defense couldn't hold anyone when it counted.

Our OL couldn't protect Brady when it counted.

Brady made a horrendous throw in a critical moment (something he's done more this year than he's ever made in his career).

We choke a 4th quarter lead again. Something we've done quite a bit this year.

EDIT: This was not a meaningless game. We could have wrapped up the 3rd seed today if we won. In 06, Indy hosted the AFCCG because they were the 3rd seed and we were the 4th.

Please, it doesn't matter because teams can pick the Pats apart anyways. So dumb when people come up with these excuses.

You know, there could be a lot of truth to that.

It was very very vanilla after it went 27-13, on both sides of the ball. No stunts, no five and dime defensively, and just standard up the middle running and also pretty vanilla passing routes.

The only thing this Pats team seems to be good at is collapsing during the 4th quarter (They have that down pat). This team may win the first round of the playoffs but that will be the end of it.

Completely agree....we can't win on the road. If not for the stupid Neal holding call we probably tie the game on that last drive with Hoyer as the QB....but things didn't happen that way. I've got tickets for next week and are now debating selling them, because I don't want to witness the loss.

really? if that's the case then maybe YOU should send in your resume to Bob Kraft and ask him to hire YOU....let me know how you make out, genius

Come on guys we are gonna be the #4 seed! If we can win in the first round at home (were we are undefeated might I add) then we most likely go to Indy (a team in a slump going into the playoffs) if we can win there, then we have momentum going into Cincy or San Diego most likely.

Obviously a meaningless game, but let's be honest, even taking that into consideration, if we'd been asked to map out in advance roughly the worst-case scenario for this game, surely that wasn't far off? Huge injury blow with Welker seemingly done for the year and the defense throwing away another double-digit lead, ably assisted by the O drying up late once again.

Meaningless or not, you're crazy if you think confidence won't have taken another big hit after that capitulation. Had no issue with losing that game if we were conserving our starters, and have no issue with maybe ending up with the fourth seed, but not from 14 points up.

P.S. Can people PLEASE stop quoting NEPatriot, it defeats the object of having him on the ignore list. Thanks.
