I love this pick.

Tyrone McKenzie, South Florida, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com Football

Football Sense: McKenzie is like a coach on the field. He is generally the first player around the ball due to his keen field vision and instincts. He makes sure everyone is lined up properly and knows all of the position assignments. He has outstanding eyes reading keys and reacts with no hesitation. He shows a good feel for pre-snap movement and frustrates the opposing quarterback, as they can't figure ways to fool him. He gets into position quickly and is very good flowing to the ball. GRADE: 7.5

Are all of the rest of the picks compensatory?

I heard Tyrone McKenzie on Sirius this week. He is very humble. When asked which position and scheme fits him best he said it doesn't matter, he knows he has a lot of learning to do and will do whatever the coaches ask of him. He also pointed out his willingness to participate on special teams.

Are all of the remaining picks compensatory?

Cool - less likely it will break again.

Seriously - that's why we're taking him - 2nd round value in the 3rd.

Yeah, it's just info to show the pattern: we're drafting guys with injury issues (Vollmer's back, Tates' knee, McKenzie's leg) in the hopes that they'll be better than their draft slots.

It's been said, but reading his scouting rports indicates definite inside linebacker on Pats.

And he's from my school!! (graduate school). The USF Bulls program came out of nowhere to a top five ranking then dropped just as quick.

Check that, it was number 2! Of course they lost their next three games lol.

Love the pick at 97....say hello to the new SILB with Guyton....Bru is my favriot player though

so now we should have:

5th round compensatory pick n.170
6th round compensatory pick n. 207

plus 2 7 round picks: 232 and 234

correct ?

McKenzie's the guy with the sick Mom, which is why he went to three schools. Shoot, give him some guaranteed money.

Following in the footsteps of the immortal Kenyatta Jones (hope not)

I think this is the first draft we will not have one starter. Shows how good our team is.

OR

Is Patrick Chung going to start over Sanders?

I know - its awful when a team holds onto its veterans and addresses all its needs with veterans in free agency.

Chung will get some playing time - but more depends on whether Harrison is back or not.

Starting in the Patriots system isn't an accurate test of a player's value - don't look down on a player just because BB has done a good job outfitting his team BEFORE the draft - when the goal is long term contributors - not instant production in Year 1.
